Ok I know I am going to get slammed for this but I was let down by the Mickey bars. I had heard so much hype on here about them and when I finnally got one I was like what's the big deal it is just vanilla icecream with a chocolate shell. What was I missing?

No offense, but are you over 10? Then you probably have more evolved tastes than their target audience. My 4 and 5 year olds were blown away by them, mainly because they were actually allowed to have dessert, but I wouldn't have thought of ordering one myself.

Same things go for Mickey waffels (just waffels in a certain shape), Mickey dolls (just an expensive pluche toy). The thing is the Mickey shape and the fact that you can only get them while enjoying Disney atmosphere (Parks or Cruiseships). If that doesn't give you any good feelings you are definately missing something.
Just try one more and see if you feel better :mickeybar

No offense taken its just There were a lot of adults on here talking about how "you must try" and give to club staff as gifts because their not allowed to get them, and so on just made me think it was more than just a plain icecream bar. Was expecting something different than vanilla, unusual flavor, or chocolate filled, something special. But hey I get the whole Mickey shape thing, I love Disney don't get me wrong.

I actually thought they were better than the desserts in the MDR!! They are definitely a lot bigger than a regular ice cream bar.

That's what they are. Simple goodness.

My wife and I love them, get a few on the cruise, but I found them originally in the park.

Trust me, when you can get a treat from Disney that normally goes for about $5 for FREE, it takes on a whole different flavor!

A Mickey Bar is average ice cream, covered in average chocolate and soaked in Disney marketing. Based on taste, you can get as good or better cream at your local gas station but those ice cream bars don't have Disney marketing behind them. A trip to any Disney Park or the cruises is not a complete trip for me without a Mickey Bar. However, I understand people who could careless about them.

When I was a kid, popcorn was a special treat since we only got it when we went to the movies. Now it is everywhere, have it at home all the time, and while fun it has lost its magic. Mickey bars have a cool shape, and ice cream, melt and get messy, and you only get them when you go to Disney. Special comfort food, and on the list of "secrets" to know about when you sail. Maybe as we get older our palate is more sophisticated, and we lose the wonder of childhood. Like being a kid again!

My husband LOVES Mickey bars! As PP mentioned - "a trip to any Disney Park or the cruises is not a complete trip...without a Mickey Bar.." If we go to WDW, I'll bet my husband buys at least 3 of these a day at a ridiculous price (Seems like they are $5-6 a piece??) Basically, they aren't any different than a Dove bar, but what makes them special to us is that they solidify the fact that we are on vacation, since we can't get them any other time. :dog2:

They're unique to DCL because of their shape and they're free. They taste really good after a hot day in port!

Deep into a cruise after my 131st specialty cheesecake/tart/whatever dessert, asking for a simple Mickey bar instead was a nice change of pace. Despite how full I was, I had no trouble eating it.

It was my favourite dessert of the whole trip. The kids had them every day. After two days of desserts that should have been really flavourful tasting like nothing, I ordered a Mickey bar. Love them, get them in the park when we are there too.

My wife almost always had a Mickey Bar for dessert in the MDRs. I guess we are children at heart!

The first night in the MDR I ask for the Mickey Bar with a different desert also. After night 2, I get a Mickey Bar every night. One of the my top 5 desert treats on the ship, and yes they are included in the price I pay for the cruise, they are not FREE, LOL.

:mickeybarto us a must do for every Disney trip is to have a Mickey Bar. It is more part of our tradition then anything else. We were so disappointed with the Mickey Bars at DLR! They flash freeze them or something and the chocolate and ice cream didn't meld together like they do in FL. Maybe you need the humidity of the FL parks to make it exactly right. LOL Sorry you were disappointed. I don't like Turkey Legs or Dole Whip

As others have mentioned, I think theyre probably labelled as "amazing" because theyre mickey shaped. I honestly wasnt blown away by it either. I personally like the "cookie sandwich" mickey bar waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better! :goodvibes. Sadly, DCL only carries the bars, not the sandwich. :(

I like ice cream, and it is kind of fun when doing something Disney to get ice cream in the shape of Mickey. For me, the joy of Mickey Bars on the ship is that I have already paid for them, and can order as many as I want, which is usually one or two throughout the cruise. When I am in Walt Disney World, I don't get any, because I can't justify the cost. So I guess it is the opportunity to eat something that in other settings I want but "can't" have.

I only eat ice cream bars when on the Disney ships. That makes it special for me. theyre smooth and creamy and Disney! otherwise I can compare them to Dove or Klondike because I normally dont eat ice cream bars. I think its the Disney thing to do which makes it special
