Are you eligible for this money?

Found a few more class action claims. Trying to find one we saw on TV the other day, not having luck with that.

The Red Bull one just ended, but the Arm & Hammer deodorant could net you $20 without a receipt and the Giradelli Chocolate $24 also without a receipt

http://www.classactionrebates.com/

This link has many others as well, well worth checking out

The thermos one is $8.50 for insulated $4.50 for regular, also no receipt required

So what is this? Free money for anyone?

No, if you purchased the products in the class action suites you can fill out a claim form. You must have purchased the products in question, while many of these do not require proof of purchase via receipts you are signing a document stating you did purchase the products and you would be committing fraud to state otherwise.

Remember you are sending the signed claim document to a lawyer or a company representing a law firm. Just saying...

Lol so yep pretty much! ;)
Kidding

Well ya, that what it sounds like. Those that don't require proof of purchase? Really?

Who would troll the internet for class action lawsuits that don't require receipts? Really?

I wasn't trolling the internet looking for them, There is a huge one in Canada right now that I ( and most people I know ) qualify for, and while researching it I found these.

I am not suggesting anyone fill it out if they did not buy the product, but if they did buy the product why not ( as is the case with the $20 coming to me because of a price fixing class action suit here in Canada for computer RAM in the early 2000's).

If someone chooses to embellish what they bought that's their prerogative, but if you re-check the title of my thread it says " Are you Eligible for this Money?"
"Eligible" implies I am not suggesting anyone cheat. So again I am wondering why you are accusing me of "Trolling the internet" If you are not eligible, skip this thread and move along. I don't think posting information, that for the record I can't even use because I am Canadian, but hopefully is useful to someone else, makes me a bad person or a troll.

GRRRRRR! No wonder the disboards has the reputation of being the unfriendliest board around!

And for the record even though you don't require proof of purchase ( because really who has deodorant receipts from months or even years ago and the courts recognize that) you are still declaring you bought that product on a legal form.

Thank you for posting. I have bought tons of giradelli through the years. And also saw the Verizon one which we are eligible for as well. (Needs proof)

Another reason prices are so high. The millions companies have to shell out for some pretty petty issues plus legal fees is ridiculous. And of course all these costs are just added onto what we pay for merchandise and the middle class pays again while the lawyers get richer and richer.

But in some cases these are justified. One of the propane tank swap companies was deliberately under filling their tanks thus ripping off their customers. People / lawyers sued and they had to refund the cost of the propane exchanges. Other class actions are for false advertising and what not.

Sure the lawyers get the big bucks, but then again they are the one spending time on the cases, hiring the professionals investigate and to testify on the cases. I believe you almost always have the option to opt out of the class action law suit and file your own against the company.

I hardly ever post - because yep - most people on the boards are just too mean for me. BUT I am going to post & say thank you - There were a couple of big ones that we actually qualified for...Like no one told us there was a problem with Certainteed siding...that explains a lot here at my house. So thank you for posting, I appreciate it.

Not very magical to call someone out for posting helpful information for anyone that has purchased products that are listed. Really? If you can't say something nice then don't say nothing at all. :tinker:

I really appreciate all the helpful information here and on other threads. Thank you everyone for posting/answering questions and a huge thank you to DU for sponsoring these boards.

You are correct that some of the responses came off as snarky. I believe people are just fed up with ambulance chasing lawyers who really are leeches on society. I'm sure you just caught in the crossfire. You got bloodied and battered but hopefully you didn't take a direct hit.

HA HA thanks to everyone that posted after I got called out and replied.
You brought a smile to my face and made me realize that it was worth taking my time to post this and hopefully help someone!

Kind words really do go a long way, I appreciate it!

Thank you for posting this, I saw the Honda one and we qualify for it (it requires proof of brake pad replacement, which we have!) and hopefully we'll be getting reimbursed for it.

But then again the companies need to be held accountable. If they were not penalized for making false claims or causing injury or damage then they would continue to do so. I think if you were to read through the list you would see most are not frivolous.

Would you feel the same if you drove a Honda that had to get it's brake pads replaced pre-maturely (to prevent injury or worse) or had siding on your house that did not hold up to it's claims. What about all the people injured by Sketchers Shape up shoes?

If companies are making false claims or selling faulty products then you are 'paying again' with or without lawyers getting a cut.
