We are planning a Disney cruise on the Magic in April and thinking about adding an Epcot day at the end to do Flower and Garden festival. We have not stayed at YC/BC in the past but we are considering it for this trip because I've always wanted to and it's just one night. We would plan to get off the boat, drive to Orlando, check in at YC, spend the day in Epcot, but my question is about the next day. We would like to spend some time at Stormalong Bay before we leave. Can we get our things out of our room and nominally "check out" and still be able to use the pool for a few hours? I'd like to stay until mid afternoon and then change at the pool and head home. Doable or not?

You'll be able to use all the resort amenities, including Storm Along Bay, until midnight on check out day.

Somebody asked about the difference between a room at the Beach Club and a studio at Beach Club Villas.

Here's the info on the BCV studios:

A studio will have 1 queen size bed and 1 double size sleeper sofa. They sleep 4.

If you want more beds, they will not bring you a cot. So if, for example, your son and daughter will not share the sleeper sofa, Disney won't help you. You could try bringing an air mattress from home.

I think I read somewhere that after the refurb, the studios will also have a sleep chair. That means they will sleep 5. But I don't have that in writing.

A studio will have a kitchenette which means wet bar (kitchen sink), small fridge, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker and small counter. There will be paper plates, paper bowls and plastic utensils in the kitchenette cupboards. I think they have real coffee mugs, but I'm not positive.

I think all BCV villas have full balconies (none of the "Juliet" balconies). Unless, of course, you are on the ground floor.

As for views, they're not great at BCV. I just saw a post on this somewhere, so I will edit this if I find more info.

If you book a studio through Disney's Central Reservations Office or online, you will get daily housekeeping. If you book on points, you will not get daily housekeeping.

If you book on points and you are staying for less than 8 nights, you get Trash & Towel Service on Day 4. This includes:
- emptying the trash & replacing the trash bags
- clean towels
- bathroom amenities replaced as needed
- tissues, paper towels & toilet paper replaced
- coffee, sugar, creamers and sweeteners replaced.

If you are staying on points for 8 nights or more, you get a full cleaning on day 4, and Trash & Towel Service on day 8. Full cleaning involves everything you would get for Trash & Towel Service plus:
- changing the sheets
- vacuuming
- dusting
- cleaning the bathroom
- cleaning the kitchen/kitchenette
- washing the dishes

If you are staying on points and you want additional housekeeping services, you have to pay for it.

There's the BCV info for you. I've never stayed in the Beach Club itself, but Dee probably has the info on that to do a comparison.

The Villas do have real coffee cups. Also if you are on points they do not replenish the coffee or plates daily. We always bring our own coffee and filters but if you don't want to do this you can buy more coffee there. We restocked the paper plates and plastic silverware at the quick service location.

Thank you so much!!! This is great info and I will add a link to the review section (BCV studio vs. standard resort room)

I forgot about the balconies. D'OH!!!

Most of the resort rooms have 2 Queen beds. A few have a single King Bed and possibly a daybed or sleeper chair. Some rooms have daybeds, not sure how many.

The coffee maker in the studio is a 4 cup Mr. Coffee (filter) type machine. The ones in the resort rooms are Cuisinart "Pod" machines (not filter, not Kuerig)

:thumbsup2

Does any one know the space comparison/size for the villas vs. resort room?

I could look it up, I suppose, but I am off to the high school library in a few minutes for my volunteer shift.

In October, we were in Room 3049. As per Touring Plans, we requested upper floor for views, SE facing (faces the lake), and this was the room they assigned us, on the third floor. It has a full balcony, as all YC rooms do, and a great view:

Thanks for the great pictures! I quoted your post and added it to the View Thread. Hope you don't mind.

:goodvibes:

I was checking yesterday, and for the long weekend in October that we're going, there was no availability at all at the YC, so we booked the BC. The same thing happened this past summer when I tried to book the BC for late October, many rooms were taken out of inventory because of the refurb. So, I'm assuming that this October, the YC will be undergoing refurb as well. I'm pretty sure that's what has been reported, so it makes sense to me. We've never stayed at the BC, so I'm excited...this seems like it'll be a new tradition for us - a F&WF long weekend at the YC or BC. Love it, and love this super-helpful, super-friendly thread!

:sunny:

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for October.

:cool1:

Hi all, I haven't been very active on this board since I introduced myself but wanted to pop in and say we have a change for our reservation. I called on Saturday to book a BC garden view room for my sister and they did not have any GV rooms for our stay. So we all switched over to YC. If you don't mind changing us on the BOG list, that would be great. Jacqui and family 10/9-17 at YC (celebrating DH's 50th). Thanks!!

I've looked all over the first post and I'm not seeing anything about refurbs at YC. I know they are still working on BC but come October, do you think they will be at YC?

I'm just glad we were able to stay at an Epcot resort during F&W. It's been a while since I've been to F&W and I am really looking forward to it!

Thank you,
Jacqui

:wave2:

I'll make the revisions to your info on the list.

:)

WOOO HOOO...just was able to move our POFQ ressie to BC Deluxe Studio for 10/16 - 10/23...wanted a GV room, but apparently you all were there ahead of me, and there wasn't any availability - but there WAS a Studio Villa...a few steps further to EPCOT, but hey....it's the BEACH CLUB!!! Hoping that the renovations will not be an issue...and that we'll get a "new" room....

We'll be celebrating our 40th Anniversary while we are there - a year after the fact, but better late than never!

We LOVE BC...it's the first WDW experience we had, way back in 1986 - and have stayed here a few times since then (never in the villas!), but mostly the moderates....this event is going to be worth the extra cost, and if a discount happens - well, that's just gravy!!!

Can you add me to the BOG list??? Thanks so much to everyone who has posted, and continues to post, info about this fantastic resort!! Can't tell you how much we are looking forward to this trip!

Here's an official :welcome:

I'll add you to the list.

:cheer2:

Just booked a father/daughter trip for 4/29-5/3 at BC! So excited. By then, maybe two floors will have been refurb'd?

I noticed when I try to book Beaches & Cream, available times are shown but it doesn't let me book. The site does, however, let me book other restaurants. Does anybody have reservations for B&C between 4/29-5/3? I wonder if this is a sign they'll be doing some refurb work on the restaurant and they haven't fully updated the system yet? Or just a glitch in the system for now?

:welcome: back!!!

Your trip sounds awesome!

:woohoo:

Hi everyone!! Booked for our first Yacht Club stay in September for Halloween and Food and Wine!! We've even booked a Club Level stay! (spoiled after our first club level stay in December) After seeing the gorgeous pics of the new rooms at the Beach Club, we're considering swapping over to Beach Club! But either way, we're very excited! Can we be added to the Be Our Guest list please? Thanks!! Love all the great info!

Courtney

:welcome:

I'll get you onto the list next time I do an update.

The pictures for the secret door show a card entry. We no longer get cards since the switch to magic bands, unless we ask for one I think. Did they install an RFID reader to the outside of these secret doors?

I don't know, but I have never been there late enough to need to use a card or my Magic Band for late night access.

Anyone know???

:thumbsup2

:welcome: to this thread.

As dansdad explained, yes you can use SAB that day after you have checked out of your room. There are free lockers near Beaches & Cream for the things you don't give to bell services and rest rooms near by to change. There are poolside outdoor showers located in a few places around the pool as well.

Let us know if you book and I will add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

You may want to consider going to BC in September if you are staying CL (if you can). The YC should be starting their renovations in September and CL is the first to be getting done. Just a thought.

Yes, they did install RFID readers to the exit doors. The Magic Bands will open them. Usually these doors are open until 11pm, but you may encounter a door that is locked all day, like the door near the Wedding Gazebo at the YC. :)

Just called CRO to switch our res from YC garden view standard room to BC lagoon /pool view Club Level( very excited about that, it's been a while since we have stayed there).
We arrive this Thursday, and I did ask the reservation cm whether Stormalong Bay work is complete. She said "no notes saying under refurb, so that means they have completed work."
If any one else can confirm this chime in!

I'll be there in a couple of hours, waiting at DFW for my connection so I can confirm if SAB refurbs is done or not when I get there at around noon or so :)

According to the graphic layouts at **************.net, the Studio is slightly smaller, 356 square compared to the Standard BC rooms which are 381 square feet. Looks like a slightly wider bathroom area in the graphic

Yes, the BCV studios are narrower than a regular room at the BC. :)

Perfect! If they do not change hours/magic hours, there will be at least one night a park closes at midnight. Now I can walk to the best entry with confidence.

Just under a month until we'll be there! I remember seeing a thread that had photos of what some of the views looked like from certain rooms. Was that this thread or another one? I figured I ask before I go searching through 179 pages worth of posts. haha

Can't remember if you have posted here before- just in case...

:welcome:

Here are a couple more threads where guests have posted pictures of views from their Beach Club and Yacht Club rooms.

I started up three View Threads in the Resort Photo Subforum:

Beach Club Room Views

Yacht Club Room Views

Beach Club Villas Room View

The purpose of these threads is to give some samples of rooms in various view categories (standard, garden, lagoon/pool) at the Yacht and Beach Clubs.

Please note that we generally do not recommend that you request a particular room number for your stay at the resort, but instead let the room assigner know what is most important to you

This usually works really well for us, although my latest request reads, "full balcony and nice view, please." I went on to explain that I know this description isn't very clear, but it would be great if we could have a view on the better end of standard. :) I'm guessing we'll spend most of the time in that great new lounge anyway!

Newspaper alert!
The Newspapers (USA Today) are in fact still available. I saw them in the Beach Club on the second floor, stacked on a dresser very near the stairs that you take to walk down into the main lobby. Over in the Yacht Club I saw the paper on the coffee tables in the lobby where the sofas are.

Hi NM
I think the question was about the resort specific "newspapers" they used to publish weekly and give to guests at checkin - not the USA Today. I have some copies of these from trips long ago, but I haven't seen one in quite a while.

Thanks for the advice on the water parks / SAB dilemma we were having. I took Disney before Sally's advice and we had a family vote. It was 4-1...guess who the "1" was? Last trip we did Blizzard Beach and the kids really want to experience Typhoon Lagoon (thanks Crushin Gusher...or whatever it's called...waterslide coaster). It was only $25 to add on the option so looks like we'll squeeze some Miniature Golf in and possibly DisneyQuest if we get a really rainy day...but I'd like to avoid DTD this trip since I heard it's a mess with the Disney Springs construction...but I know I will get talked into going down there at least for an ice cream at Ghirardelli...which isn't a bad thing! I grew up near San Francisco and a trip to the "city" was never complete unless we stopped at the Ghirardelli soda fountain!

BTW...I've played all the Mini Golf courses and we prefer the Fantasia Gardens course...plus it's walking distance from BC!!

I booked a water view room since it was the only category left and I normally don't pay for view but decided it was worth the extra but my first room, 1521 had this view - http://i.imgur.com/mnj7VDo.jpg

Didn't want to stare at a towel box for the entire week so we went back to the front desk and got changed to a room on the 4th floor with this view - http://i.imgur.com/hDFoqW6.jpg

I normally don't complain about views but damn, look at the difference between the views! You could see a little of the pool and maybe lagoon if you squinted but yech, they really shouldn't sell the first room as a water view if they don't move the box.
