I sure lucked out this morning with Southwest check in

That's awesome!! I get such anxiety trying to get all 6 of us checked in at exactly 24 hours before.

This happened to us at the end of Jan. I am always crazy about checking in, but somehow it got past me. When I remember about two hours later, the four of us were A40's! I was shocked and convinced before checking in that we were going to be sitting all over and in the middle seats. Sometimes it just works out!

Our flight is at 6:25am and I work at 7am the day before. I typically leave for work by 6:30 so I'm going to lay out our phones and tablets at 6:20. I'll open the app and load up our info and check in right before I head to work. Last time, I tried the multiple windows on one computer method and it managed to check in DH 3 times and skipped DD9 completely. She ended up in the B's by herself. As it worked out, she boarded with my sister and niece who boarded during family boarding.

This is stressing me out. We are buying EBCI for departure flight but arrival flight we are undecided.

What information is needed for check in? Is it better to have a SW account? Does it matter if I create one now for check in even though flights were purchase over the phone not online?

All you need to check in is the confirmation number and first and last name of the traveler. It does not matter if you have an account. Just go to southwest.com and click on the 'checkin' tab.

We were heading home from WDW on 3/2 and were at Uno's during our check in time. I loaded our info and then sat staring at my phone waiting for the minute to change. When it did I tapped the check in button and got B 50, 53! Didn't see any two seats together, but we got across the aisle, which was fine.

It happened to us once, I totally forgot to check in. I finally remembered about 6 hours after I should have done it. We got A30s. I couldn't believe it until we got to the airport and found out there were only 48 people on our flight. We were so lucky. I always purchase EBCI for the ride home but still do the 24hr check in for the flight down (I like torture I guess or I am just cheap)

I think what worked in your favor, OP, is that people would have needed to get up at 5:55am on a Sunday to check-in... I may have been ok with a C boarding position as the alternative ;)
