2 double beds or 1 king bed?

i'm going solo in april and i'm just curious as to whether disney tries to put solo travelers in a room with 1 king size bed since they will not need 2 beds or do they not care that you will only need one bed and put you in a room with two beds anyways?

i'm sure there are not too many rooms that only have one bed as they expect mostly families so i'm expecting that i will be put in a room with two beds.

i just wanted to know what other solo travelers have experienced.

btw i'm staying at POP.
and i requested the 50's section so obviously that also limits the chance of getting a king bed since i'm limiting disney's options of where to put me in the resort.

with Pop you will generally get a room with 2 beds - these are double beds not queens.
the king beds at Pop are generally used for HC guests.

Stayed at the pop for my first DW vacation and was solo. I first asked for 80s or 90s; and as it was my first time they moved me to the 60s (boy am I glad for that now) and had 2 double beds. Felt kinda silly but what can I say? I probably should have asked if I could have gotten a room with one king bed (I roll around in my sleep and that go tricky on a double)
When you check in just ask if your room is 2 doubles and if so; can they move you.

I've done two solo Pop stays and each time my room had two beds. Personally, I LOVE having two beds...one for sleeping and the other to spread all my stuff on!

Never thought about that! I am planning a few years down the line by myself, do you put like your stuff for the next day there? or just random stuff you throw on the bed?

Lol you just put pretty much whatever you just had in you hand and no longer need on there. The spare beds are great when storage space is limited!

Great idea!! I will be staying at our villa, but I can use the couch for that fo shizzle!!!

If you ask me, Disney tries to put solo and party of 2 in single bed rooms. DD and I go a lot just the two of us and even though Disney knows the ages of it's travelers, we are constantly getting put in rooms with only a king bed! Just b/c we're a party of two doesn't automatically mean you're a couple. It's to the point, where I literally have to formally request 2 beds. It's something that makes staying CL nice, b/c I can just e-mail IPO with my request for 2 beds. Doing it at check-in, non-CL, sucks. It takes time for them to search for a new room (if their are any!), call 8 people, and once we had to move rooms a day later, putting our luggage into storage and waiting for a new room to be become available (not until after 5 pm the next day!)

I will find out in November when I go solo, at the Wilderness Lodge. I do have a note on my reservation for a king bed, non-HC room, but I am fine with the king or 2 queens. Like someone else said, having the 2nd bed is nice to put your things on. I did that while staying at POFQ in November, in a room with just myself.

I've been staying at POFQ where "King Bed" is something you specifically book, so I've always had the 2 Queens. I'm another who likes having the 2nd bed for "dumping things." I put my suitcase there to get things in and out, lay out clothes for the day, toss bags there when I come into the room, etc.

I would have thought POP would not have a lot of King rooms so they wouldn't usually hand them out willy-nilly unless you requested one, but obviously I don't know.

I've had the opposite experience. On both solo trips and the trip where it was a couple we were put in rooms with two beds. In fact on my solo I had specific requested a single bed and didn't get it. Maybe it's a case of I tend stay at Values or Mods instead of Deluxes

I have been going to the World for 30 something years now and have never had a room with a king bed. When my son was younger we would share a room and there was always two double or queen beds (we always stayed in deluxe) after he got older and traveled with his finace/wife we get separate rooms and my room always has a double bed. The last two times I have been totally solo and have stayed once at Pop and once at Port Orleans, I've had two beds. I even had two beds when I rented DVC points and stayed in studios at Boardwalk and Old Key West.

strange I have been going to WDW since 1972 and have never had a king bed. since 2007 being going solo. of course I generally stay at DVC resorts - OKW is the only one with 2 beds in the studio. the others have a queen bed and a double sleeper sofa - but that is DVC not the WDW resort part

I've been going to Disney about 15 years--when I traveled with my daughter, we always were given two beds (at any resort level) without asking. I've done a couple of short solo trips in the past year and on the one at Pop they "upgraded" me to a King bed in the 50s section. (I usually like the back by the lake.) At first, I was thrilled when I saw it because there was a lot of room to move around, stretch, etc. plus I was just steps away from the food court.
Unfortunately, it ended up being one of the worst stays I have ever experienced at Disney (and not Disney's fault)--the connecting room next to mine had a family with small children where the parents fought very loudly every time they were in the room--early morning, very late, etc. (I would cough or turn the tv up loudly lol. I was only there for two days, so I didn't bother asking to be moved; I did however, let the CM at the desk know.) My couple of days there was supposed to be a "resort stay" without the parks before my daughter arrived for a cruise, but it ended up being stressful from all the noise and being awakened/unable to relax in the room. I'd never experienced that in any prior visits to Disney, and being alone, it was very unnerving to hear that much yelling at the "happiest place on earth."

So I guess a king room can sound like a great thing, but in this case it actually wasn't.

I'm going solo later in the year and I was just thinking the same thing about having an extra bed. I personally don't care.

I've always gotten 2 doubles, except for one time at All Stars (can't remember-Sports or Music). I checked in late at night, and all they had left, they said, was a HA room with a king bed.
