We leave four weeks from tomorrow. One week at BWV garden/pool view. I can get our first two days switched to the Poly (our first full day is at MK anyhow). HELP!
1) Magic bands have shipped or are close to shipping as last the day to modify them was Sunday. Will it screw that up?
2) We already have ME luggage tags for BWV too-will they send new ones?
3) Is the construction pretty much over or is the pool still a wreck?
4) any feedback on the views? We will be eating into our 2015 point allotment--but only 10 or 22 points depending on view, and we are cruising on cash in 2016 anyway and may not make it to WDW.
My husband loves the Poly and this would be an awesome surprise for him but I don't know about the logistics!

1. MB - not a problem. You can use the same one at both resorts. Or pick new ones to pickup at Poly.
2. Make a new ME reservation and they'll mail you new tags. I booked our ME for Feb 3 weeks out (completely forgot!) and they mailed them right away.
3. Pool is scheduled to be done April 1. Not sure I'd count on it.
4. Lake view would be nice, except you'd have a big chance of getting one of the rooms on the right side near the MK Ferry :) Standard would be garden view or parking lot (+ monorail) views.

If it's your DH's fav, I'd switch over and risk the pool and construction.

Personally, I would not make any changes but put it down for planning the next trip.

It's sooooo tempting. We ate at Kona in June and he sure loves that place. We are milking the last drops out of some APs and our next trip may not be for two years (we are cruising in 2016 for spring break). The pool is not a deal breaker although it would be cool.Keep the opinions coming.

Another thought is, if you're going for Lake view, it's not going to change. If you go for Standard view, I'd wait till all the rooms are open and construction/landscaping is done.

And is it possible to book the last 2 days of your trip to Poly? BWV might look worn and small after 2 days in the new studios....

I did it. My former CP daughter egged me on! It is a lake view studio for opening day! Hot damn! I didn't know it was opening day. I guess the room will be ready when we get there!
I have to say I had one call to change the reservation and a second call because I was so excited I forgot to ask for a higher floor. The first CM was Leigh and the second was Chase. No wait either time, and both were so friendly it sounded like they were smiling the whole time. I wonder what is in the water in Orlando today? I left good surveys for both.
naiajms I did think about the contrast between it and the BWV, but there is no way it would work the last two days. I have all my FPs and dining set. We can still go to Epcot on our arrival day by monorail, but I think I'll switch the Rose and Crown dinner to Kona so we can just come back and kick it on the beach or at whatever pool is open (fingers crossed it's the new one). Our first full day is MK so the Poly will be great for that. On our checkout day we have DHS planned so that will work for our BWV check in. He loves the BWV too so I'm sure it won't be too bad! I don't care where we are as long as we are out of this frozen tundra in Ohio!
The Poly was our first WDW trip ever in 2000 and it holds a special place, so it's cool we will be there again.

Congrats!

There's a file upload link now so you can upload pics directly from your phone on APR 1st.

We want pics.

Congratulations!

Tikiman posted that Disney is mailing out letters. Poly main pool will be open by April. Enjoy being one of the first guests!

Do you think they will do anything for the first day? It's not like the the Poly is new.

They did on the first day they opened the Villas at Grand Californian. We were there and we got to go to a reception in a Grand Villa. Mickey was there for pictures and they gave out sling bags. And I think there was cake and other snacks.

That would be very cool. And our flight gets to MCO at 11:05 so we should be there by 12:30ish.

Oh I will! If my husband takes his ipad mini I will share them before I get home!
