He's with the Band! a DL Performing Arts TR- 7/13/15 A little Tiki Tiki Tiki Rum!

It's nice that overall your day was good. I love the Aladdin show! I hope they don't change it out because the genie always makes it worthwhile with his topical jokes.

Still have not eaten at Flo's so I can't say what you missed, but the Broccoli Cheddar is a regular soup as is the clam chowder. We've enjoyed tacos from Cucina Cucamonga but only the special F&W offering they had 5 years ago at the Asian place. Sounds like everything you had was winners with the various partakers!

Woo from anywhere but the park is never as good, but it's always better than nothing!

Is it tomorrow we get to meet up?

The BEST Disney show of any park or ship, in my experience, to date.

They have a version of Aladdin on the Disney Fantasy and I really liked it there. Michael says that the DCA version is still slightly better. I would love to see the Broadway version they recently started!!

That left us headed to the Pacific Wharf where there were multiple options.

I think that area was such a smart idea for just that reason. It is a food court without feeling like a food court at all.

I honestly don't know if this was a special soup, or if Eric got this.

Broccoli and Cheese $9.99
Rich and Cheesy Soup made with Cheddar Cheese, fresh Broccoli Florets and Diced Onions

I don't bebelieve your picture is of the broccoli soup. Michael had that and it was white with green specks in it, not bright orange.

I had been debating between 3 different things, asked the CM and wow, they did not steer me wrong. I have to admit, this wildly exceeded my expectations.

Looks so delicious!!

Silly jellyfish complete we headed up to meet my folks at the villa WoC viewing area. Which honestly, I didn't take a single picture of while at! It was pretty crowded so the view was marginal and my phone just wasn't cutting it so I gave up trying. I will say though, it's kind of a neat, albeit very different view as you are kind of on top of the water coming up. You really get to see the colors more than anything and that was quite pretty.

We never got to see WoC from there, so it is interestig to hear your views on it. I think I will try to get there on my next VGC stay!

In the world of park touring, not a lot was accomplished this day. However, in the world of quality family time, relaxation and entertainment? You know what, it was a darn good day!

And that is all that counts!! :goodvibes

Sounds like a fantastic afternoon/evening in the park.

You pretty much summed up my review of Aladdin! AWESOME show!!! The Genie was hilarious with his topical comments but I can't remember any of them either.

We didn't do the jellyfish thing.

I'm glad you all were able to find something to satisfy your hunger at the Wharf. It really is a pretty decent set up. We liked the things we got from Lucky Fortune.

Ending the night at World of Color is never a bad thing.

:goodvibes:

The Genie was fabulous!

The burrito was surprisingly good. That soup is SO orange I have to think it's something else lol.

Woo from anywhere but the park is never as good, but it's always better than nothing!

Definitely better than nothing!

YES!!!

They have a version of Aladdin on the Disney Fantasy and I really liked it there. Michael says that the DCA version is still slightly better. I would love to see the Broadway version they recently started!!

I would love to see the Broadway version as well, it's going to be fabulous I am sure.

I think that area was such a smart idea for just that reason. It is a food court without feeling like a food court at all.

I agree, I'd eaten at the Wharf Cafe before but that was it. I was pleasantly surprised.

I don't bebelieve your picture is of the broccoli soup. Michael had that and it was white with green specks in it, not bright orange.

I don't think it is either, it is just too orange. It very well could be squash soup, that is something Eric would pick.

Looks so delicious!!

It really was

We never got to see WoC from there, so it is interestig to hear your views on it. I think I will try to get there on my next VGC stay!

It is a nice alternative to the crowds, a very different vantage point and then a lovely short stroll to your villa so it definitely has some positives!

Not to mention you can take a glass of wine up there. Although I guess now, you can walk around DCA with an adult beverage it appears which did not used to be the case at all.

And that is all that counts!! :goodvibes

It really really is

Cynthia, it sounds like a perfect day to me with family time and relaxation. I've heard absolutely wonderful things about the Aladdin show and hope it is still there when I get there in two years.

My folks were standing in line saving spots for us for a very special must do never done.
Can you guess?

Here's a hint
Oh... I know, I know!!!!

I felt like I was in a downtown city theater, or maybe on a cruise ship. NOT in a park that's for sure.
::yes:: It is huge... and spectacular. Nothing at all like what you expect from something that just looks like a soundstage from the outside.

The BEST Disney show of any park or ship, in my experience, to date. So much fun. We had the best Genie and he really made the jokes/ad lib incredibly current.
I totally agree. I was blown away by it! Genie even sounded like Robin Williams and his material was all timely and relevant. I'm like you, I don't remember many specifics that he said, but it was fantastic!

Good family time always makes for a nice day! I always have a hard time with those days where you have to slow down in the parks, but sometimes it is just nice to have some relaxing time like that too.

I'm sure it was especially nice for your mom to ease back into things that way too.

That theatre looks amazing and I can't wait until we can make it out there to see Aladdin! And the Pacific Wharf are looks like a great place for dinner where you can please everyone. Can't wait to hear more!

Aladdin is always a fun show. I love that they keep the jokes current and topical.
The food looks great at the Wharf.

The Aladdin show sounds great! I can't wait to see it this summer! I've seen the version on the Fantasy, and that was good, but I've heard that the DLR version is better. We're also planning a trip to NYC and hope to see the Broadway version!

I can't imagine them changing it, that would be crazy but I guess you never know. You will love it!

It really does look like a soundstage from the outside, so unexpected!

Too funny that it seems to be the same for everyone where no one can recall the specifics but loved him!

I am always skeptical of CS locations, more often than not I am dissapointed but it really did work out well for us that night.

Aladdin is always a fun show. I love that they keep the jokes current and topical.
The food looks great at the Wharf.

The food was surprisingly good. Then again, anything would have been better than my meal at Flo's. LOL!

I would LOVE to see the Broadway version. It's been far too long since I've been to NYC.

Aladdin is seriously the best show and the genie is so funny and is always updating his jokes!

Wow you guys hit up literally every restaurant on the Wharf, that is cool! Your burrito looks really big, DH would be interested in this definitely.

Side Note - any suggestions on fun places to visit in Oregon?? We're planning a road trip up to Seattle this Summer and would like to make a few stops along the way. :flower3:

I can't imagine them changing it, that would be crazy but I guess you never know. You will love it!
they were at one point going to change it out for the toy story show that's on the disney wonder. However it got some really negative comments on the disney parks blog so they backed off on it, plus the toy story show is apparently not the highest rated show on the Disney cruise ships.

Lots of fun places in OR! Are you driving up the Coast or 5? If the coast, some of my favorites are Florence in the South, then Lincoln City and Canon Beach. We also love Tillamook and do the cheese factory tour and eat ice cream. If coming up 5 there is a ton of neat things in Portland, just kind of depends what you want to do. OMSI is one of the best museums around and the Rose Garden is stunning. Great eats downtown and the best bookstore in the world (Powells). Some gorgeous hiking too, a super fabulous but a little out of the way spot is Skamania Lodge. It's just on the WA side of the Bridge of the Gods. If you saw the movie Wild, that is where she ends her hike, at that bridge. Tons of great hiking around there, Stevenson, a town pretty close is right on the gorge and you can watch all kinds of crazy windsurfing and one of the best brew pubs I've ever been to. Defintiely on the slower and outdoorsy side but I absolutely loved it there. If Liesa pops by I am sure she could weigh in with more.

Plus, do kids clothes shopping in OR...no sales tax :)

I am so used to CS Mexican being pretty lame that I was really surprised at the size and quality of that Burrito. Jeff would have been happy with it and he ALWAYS complains about servings being too small..

I am not a big fan of the Toy Story show on the ships, it is not nearly at the level of the Aladdin production. Disney Dreams is but in terms of mass appeal they would be crazy to get rid of Aladdin.

Great day all around :) rides aren't required for a fabulous day at Disney, there's so much else too!

Loved Aladdin, that was such a treat.

I missed WoC from the roof, that was on my list.

What are the Aulani dates again? I was thinking it was far away it maybe not too far now.

I totally agree about Aladdin best show around. Now I have pictures from my first trip since I think it was no flash but I remember last time I *may* have been yelled at about no photography.

Also went up to the viewing area and while it is nice and private I don't think it offers a great view. But then again, I am not too sure there is that fabulous spot to view WoC. I came pretty close the first time but even then some of the water screens were hard to see. I guess you just have to always try different spots to get a different perspective.

I am back from PHM and would love to get this TR wrapped up before I head to Aulani

This just screams "First World Problems". :lmao::rotfl:

The BEST Disney show of any park or ship, in my experience, to date. So much fun.

I wish I could have seen it! I've heard so many great things about the Aladdin show. Maybe they'll bring it to other parks someday...

And....couldn't agree on what anyone wanted. Sigh. I tell you.

ESPN Zone! :woohoo::banana:

Glad it was a nice day to be together. I hope the villa WoC viewing area was less crowded than the regular one!

I love Mexican food but DH does not, so I rarely have it...your looks tasty!

Nope, rides are not required. It seems I make it on less and less rides each trip! Aladdin was outstanding, I really hope I can see it next month when I am there. It is super short trip but my fingers are crossed!

I missed WoC from the roof, that was on my list.

my list is always longer than what actually gets done!

What are the Aulani dates again? I was thinking it was far away it maybe not too far now.

We leave in 40 days!!!! Just talking about it all weekend with the boys and firming up some of our plans.

I am actually headed to Hawaii tonight for work on the red eye. Or at least it will feel like that to me, I'll land at 1am my time, easily 2am before I'm in a bed.

I totally agree about Aladdin best show around. Now I have pictures from my first trip since I think it was no flash but I remember last time I *may* have been yelled at about no photography.

Shocker!
:lmao:

I agree. I think I was really spoiled by the Universal show and held WoC up to the same standards. That said, I may just have a super special view on my April getaway, very excited to see that!!!!

The Aladdin show is brilliant, wish they had it in Orlando.

I do too, I can't understand why they don't. Seems like a huge miss. Obviously it's a large set and but certainly not out of the realm of possibilities to duplicate rather easily I'd think and there are likely sites that could be converted.

This just screams "First World Problems". :lmao::rotfl:

Doesn't it though? Man. We were talking about this last night. Our kids have NO clue really how good they have it. I mean they "know"....but not really. Not at all.

I wish I could have seen it! I've heard so many great things about the Aladdin show. Maybe they'll bring it to other parks someday...

And maybe you will be back some day!

ESPN Zone! :woohoo::banana:

SPOILER ALERT!

I actually went into WDW ESPN on the Feb trip.

And was surprised and delighted by what I found

You'll have to wait a while to find out more though.

:rotfl:

Glad it was a nice day to be together. I hope the villa WoC viewing area was less crowded than the regular one!

It was pretty crowded actually for the size of the space but nothing near the "main floor" for sure and it was so lovely to be able to just stroll back to the villa and not be freezing.

which is why it didn't happen it was one of the first post on the disney parks blog where the negative outweighed the positive comments if there were any.

I'm a bit surprrised that they've not tweaked that show since then as it has potential.

My kids were just creeped out by the adult female playing Andy and Sid as much as anything. Honestly I think if they'd stuck to just the toys it would have been better. It has a lot of good and a lot of potential but needs adjusting I think.

It sounds like a wonderful park day!
I love the Aladdin show, too!!
I love Mexican food but DH does not, so I rarely have it...your looks tasty!

It really was surprisingly good. Generally counter service mexican can be pretty average at best so this vastly exceeded my expectations. It really was a lovely day all around.
