Awesome! Thanks so much! That actually sounds great. Even 8 minutes isn't bad, I guess I was expecting the worst.Well I walk slowly and it took me 8 minutes to walk from Ranchos to El Centro. I'm sure you could do it in 5 minutes being in your 20's and being a runner.
Hi all, will be at CSR for first time in 43 days! Trying to nail down which building I want to request. I want to be somewhat equal distance to the dig site (for my kids), and the food court (for my parents). What do you experts think about Cabanas 9A - is that a good choice? We booked a standard room. And what should I pick for my 2nd choice - Cabanas 8B? Or is that getting too far from the food court? Would Casitas 4 be better for my 2nd choice as far as being equal?
Does anyone know if Garden Grocer deliveries are charged delivery fee as shipping something via Fedex/UPS does at CSR?
Cabanas are a good choice for what you want. I wouldn't request Casitas as they are not guaranteed due to being convention rooms, and also pretty far from dig site pool. Just so you know, you really can't be close to both dig site and the food court with any room, although the business class rooms in cabanas 9B are the best location because they have a short cut bridge across to the dig site and are very close to El Centro. 8A is really close to the dig site pool and about the same distance to el centro as 8B or 9A because of the way the paths are laid out. Although the cabanas area is pretty small, so not a big difference between buildings.
http://www.geodistance.comHi all! My GF and I are planning a September trip to stay at a moderate. From pictures, I love Coronado and POR, with a slight bias to Coronado. My only concern is the Ranchos distance to El Centro after reading reviews.. While the Ranchos buildings/theme/landscape looks amazing and most appealing, is the walk from Ranchos really THAT bad? We both run frequently and are certainly capable of walking to and from, but how long does it really take for a mid-20 year old?
personally I wouldn't pay extra, at that time of yr anyway, the S American tour groups are just as bad if not worse and they stay at deluxe often times. Had a great one at contemporary few yrs backHow much do things like cheerleading or dance competitions impact the bus situation/main building/pool crowds? I'm considering switching from a deluxe down to CSR for our June 29-July 5 trip and see there's going to be a dance competition there and heard there might be a cheer competition around the same time. I'm considering paying for the preferred room to make sure we're close to the main building but don't necessarily want it if there's going to be crowds of loud kids and teenagers running around where I'm trying to rest and feel secluded from the business of the parks.
They are definitely both really nice resorts for relaxing down time. I can tell you that we stayed at POR the first week in November 2 years ago, and also visited CSR while we were there. CSR was remarkably quieter and less crowded than POR. For example, the main pool at POR was quite crowded while at CSR only had a few people swimming! I just stayed at CSR last week in January and even though the resort was heavily booked with a convention, it seemed deserted to me. The POR food court was always so crowded at meal times and the CSR food court was almost empty. Some new things that might affect your decision are:Hello all!
Soooo, DH and I are looking for a moderate resort for this November. Due to the price of luxury resorts and some decisions regarding financing we have decided to go back to a moderate. The problem is deciding which one. Obviously, we are looking at my two favourites - CSR and POR! I have stayed at both but it's been a while. I keep waffling between the two. POR has the great boat to Downtown Disney and carriage rides, but CSR has an awesome pool, fitness centre and beautiful theming complete with hammocks on the beach!
It's just DH and me, retired seniors, taking it slow and easy with a lot of relaxing down time at the resort.
Please help me decide! Is there anything that I should know about in November such as cheerleader competitions that would be housed at either of these two resorts?
Thanks for any help. I love to hear everyone's opinions and experiences.

1-construction at Downtown Dis makes going there less appealing right now-but you would want to check to see how it will be in November
2-CSR has added a new table service restaurant for BK and lunch called Las Ventanas which is excellent and reasonably priced- in the $12 to $15 range. I thought the food was a lot better at CSR than POR.
3-CSR no longer has any kind of bike or boat rentals.
Overall I thought POR had more fun things to do but CSR was better for a quiet, relaxing chill time.
I would suggest not staying right by a pool at either resort, as even without cheerleaders, they can be quite noisy at night with children as I discovered.
Maya Grill is still there for dinner only. Las Ventanas is breakfast and lunch. Its only a few dollars more than the food court for much better food and atmosphere. Also café rix has nice grab and go items you can take into the rix bar and eat for nice ambiance also. Also you can take the food court in there as well if you want.Thank you for the information! Excellent point about Downtown Disney. I had read that there was a lot going on at present. I will try to look into what the status is expected for November.
Too bad about the boat rentals. The bikes probably wouldn't be something that we would use, anyway.
Also, I didn't know that there was now a new restaurant at CSR. I remember liking the one that was there before, the Mayan Grille, was it?
Anyway, it will be nice to try something new if we stay here. I'm still considering both options, but you are starting to sway me towards CSR!!
