Hello. Long time lurker, first time poster. Not sure if I should post this here-I also posted on the Universal board....My husband and I will be in Osaka in a few weeks and are planning on spending a day at Universal. Does anyone have any tips, must sees, must dos, or must eats while we are there? I am a huge Harry Potter fan, so I look forward to seeing that area. We are both "pooh" sized as well-if anyone has any tips about what we will/will not be able to ride, that would be great! Thanks!

We went to USJ in December and really enjoyed it. I would recommend arriving an hour to an hour and a half before park opening so you can purchase your ticket and get in line. Nearly everyone heads for Harry Potter land so I would recommend you do the same. We arrived one hour before opening and were able to walk right on the Harry Potter ride and experience the land during the first two hours of park time without too many people...it will get crowded though! I'd recommend purchasing the "fast pass" ticket there if you can swing it. For us it was pretty affordable since the dollar to yen rate was favorable. The ticket lets you skip the lines and ride with minimal wait time.

As for being "pooh" sized that might present a challenge, but a lot of attractions have a ride vehicle out in front that you can sit in to make sure you can ride it. The workers at the beginning of each queue will direct you to that area if they feel you might not fit. I'm pretty tall and I had to do that for two of the coasters, but I was able to ride. Hopefully you can ride the Hollywood coaster...that's not to be missed!

As for food...eat at the restaurant in Harry Potter world (Hog's Head) and try the butter beer at the cart outside. We also ate at Finnegan's which was OK, but wished we had eaten at Louie's NY Pizza and Pasta just down the street. There were other places that looked good in Amity Village, too.

Osaka is wonderful! You're in for a treat. If you can go to the park during the week, you'll have a better time and it'll be less crowded. March is the end of the Japanese school year, so it might be more crowded in general with kids not in school. I think they go back to school the first full week of April. Yes, I agree…buy the express pass and get to the park EARLY. I am a type-A amusement park goer, which is great in the US, but in Japan EVERYONE is a type-A park goer so you have to plan accordingly!

There is so much fun stuff to do in Osaka and the Kansai region. I adore it there! However, if you are a super Disney fan and have never been to Tokyo Disney, you can get dirt cheap flights from Kansai to Tokyo if you will have the time. Bullet Trains also go through Osaka, so you can take that, but honestly, it's probably cheaper to fly on one of the low cost carrier airlines (Peach, Vanilla, Jetstar, etc.).

Enjoy your trip!
