Canoeing Question

I was looking on the Disney website and it says that to rent a canoe, it costs $11 per adult (and an adult is age 11 and up). It doesn't specify if you MUST be 11 or older to ride in a canoe though. My 6 year old would really enjoy this activity, but I can't figure out if he's too young to do this. So, what's the age limit on canoeing?

Thank you!

Small children can ride with adults but they have to be able to sit in a seat by themselves, so your 6 year old will be fine. The canoe ride is fun and you never know what you may see along the way( deer, eagle, hawk, osprey, armadillo, turkey and alligators. Remember also only 3 per canoe so if you have more children you may have to rent more than one canoe.

Thanks guys! That answers my question. I'm building our trip itinerary and my son keeps saying he's always wanted to ride in a canoe, so I thought it would be a neat experience for him. I was just confused by their website. :)

The canoe's do hold 3 people, there are 2 seats one in the front and one in the back. There is also a place in the middle of the canoe where a 3rd person or child can sit, you would sit on the floor of the canoe on a cushion that the Bike Barn supplies. The middle brace of the canoe is curved for the comfort of the back for that passenger. Have a great time on your trip.

2 people to canoe only.
Did they change the rules recently. A prior trip, the 3 of us (me, DW and DS) all took a canoe out. My DS was in the front, with my DW sitting in the middle taking pics.

They must have changed the rules cause they told us 2 people per canoe, 3 was not an option. Originally, hubby was just going to go and take both kids but they said rules are 2 per canoe.

There were two CM working though, Dean working the counter at the bike barn and the other gentleman helping us in. Dean told me when I was up there checking us in and the other CM told hubby while he was down at the water checking things out. Hubby was on his way up to tell me, two per canoe, just as I was coming to tell him the same.

Yep, three seats but only allowed two riders.

I went down to the Bike Barn today as I am here now and was informed that it has always been 3 per canoe, so you (lovedisneymm) must have gotten some bad information from Dean who works at the water parks and was there helping out that day, not sure about the other gentleman. I spoke to the manager of the Bike Barn as was informed this has always been the rule. You should ask for a free canoe ride next time you are there for the misinformation. Hope this helps.

Well ok then.

Not sure my info is really bad or not. We were there for 3 weeks and seen Dean working that area often so I'm going out on a limb and saying the man is familiar with his job. The only reason why I remember his name in the first place is because of how knowledgable he was on the time we chatted with him.

I think it depends on who you ask. There are lots of "managers" and just like everything now of days, it all depends on who is working, how they were trained, etc. etc.

Not going to ask for a free canoe ride, it was worth the $8 per canoe or whatever small price it was.

I'm with you. Absolutely worth the small fee. We had a great time. I didn't post the pics of the turtles, ducks, fish and all the campers we got to see. Well worth an afternoon. The "2" rule would have been a little frustrating for us. My DW and DS have no idea how to paddle, much less steer a canoe.
