We are SO excited to spend a day at Discovery Cove in April - just wondering if anyone can help me out with a few food questions...
1- my son has multiple food allergies (peanut, fish, egg), are they well versed at DC in dealing with food allergies (ie, being able to accommodate him?)
2- will we be able to bring any of our own snacks there?
3- and, are the lockers (where I will have to get his epipens when we eat) far from where we eat?

Thank you!!

I also found this in the FAQ's:

What do I need to bring with me to Discovery Cove?

Discovery Cove provides a mask and snorkel, towels and beach chairs. Guests may use their own masks and snorkels if they prefer, but may not bring any other diving or swimming equipment into the park. Discovery Cove will also provide guests with a sample of specially formulated sunscreen that is safe for use in the animal habitats. Since meals, snacks and drinks are provided with admission to Discovery Cove, no other food, beverages or coolers are permitted. Guests may wish to bring books and magazines, a CD or mp3 player with headset or similar items to help them relax on the beach, and a camera to catch all of their special moments.

I would definitely reach out to DC via email in advance of your trip to get the proper answers to your questions ::yes:: .

Thank you, Gina! Do you know if the lockers are located far from where the restaurant?

The whole park is reasonably small and easy to navigate, and the lockers aren't super far from the restaurant....but of course, in the event of an emergency, a "reasonable distance" is certainly subjective.

Could you grab it from your locker before you eat, then put it back after you're done....just to be on the safe side?

Yes, that was my plan so I was wondering how long would I have to walk back to the lockers to get it for meal times....thanks, good to know that lockers aren't super far. Thanks for your great advice/expertise!

Its not too far at all. And its a beautiful stroll there and back.....lots of lush, gorgeous foliage.

So I hope this doesn't sound like a strange or stupid question but your sons allergy to fish - is that just if he eats it? A full experience day at DC includes snorkelling with the fish, or at least being in water that fish are in? I have a friend who is super sensitive to sea food like shrimp and can't come in contact with it on her hands etc. or her allergies are quick to react. How will this affect your son if he is in the water with fish?

1. DD14 has allergies to dairy, egg, tree nuts, and peanuts. We went to DC in 2011, 2012, 2013 (maybe 2010?). We just went and talked to a cashier at the dining facility and the last couple times we talked to someone from the kitchen helped us select a meal for DD14 and brought it out from the kitchen. Also, in 2013 we were traveling with a friend's DS8 who is allergic to egg, fish, and peanut. I cannot remember what they had for breakfast, but for lunch, they had grilled chicken and french fries. I would think being able to have dairy may make it easier for your DS. No guaranty that they still have them, but they also were generous with giving us snack packs that contained items that did not have the top 8 allergens. This was also quite a treat for the kids. I can't remember exactly what was in it, but I think it had some cookies, cracker, chips, and a sucker or other hard candy. They also have a decent selections of ordinary chips, some of which our kids could have.
2. I believe we were allowed to bring in a small amount of snacks for the kids, but it's hard to remember because the kids enjoyed being able to get their snacks at the park. It is worth asking.
3. There are lockers in a couple areas, but I would think it would be at most a leisurely 10 minute walk to the lockers and back. If you are coming from the dolphin or snorkel area, you could just pick up the epipens on the way to the meal.
I hope you guys have a great time. We are going to make our reservations tomorrow for our next visit.

There are no stupid questions when it comes to informing yourself with food allergies... he has to consume the fish to have a reaction, or touch the fish and touch his face, not worried about that in the water. (My mom was anaphylactic allergic to shrimp too and she could not touch shrimp either.)
