hi all we stayed at POR on our last trip in feb and we LOVED it -- had a preferred room and were close to everything.....

now planning our trip for oct -- we are a family of 5 me, hubby and 3 boys 12, 8 and 4.

so the only 2 moderates we can even stay at are POR and CBR...and I kind of would like to try a new resort -- but I just looked at CBR doesn't offer preferred rooms for 5 -- so since its so big im nervous all we would be doing would be walking!

also hoping to get free dining for last week in oct and I noticed last year POR was not included?

so what do u think go with a preferred room at riverside or try the new rooms at carribean?
thanks for any tips, ideas or thoughts!

Hello! I know that when I was a kid, I definitely LOVED the theming of the Caribbean Beach Resort and of the Port Orleans French Quarter. The theming and landscaping of POR MAY be a little more bland to kids, if your kids care about things like that in a resort (although I'm guessing they don't find it bland since you've stayed there before!) The Carribean beach resort also has an awesome pool. I can't remember any cons since I was a kid the last time that I stayed there. Wherever you decide to go, have fun planning :)

I like POR, though I haven't stayed in the Bayou rooms that sleep 5. Bonus, you can use the pools at POR and POFQ.

CBR will have preferred rooms for 5 in the Fall. They are doing refurbs, and the preferred rooms are being done last. They are about half way through the preferred rooms. Check out the CBR page for more info. I have a preferred booked for the end of March and am keeping my fingers crossed for a room with a day bed. They aren't letting you book them for 5 now because they are not all done yet. Before the refurb, CBR only slept 4.

I've stayed at both CBR and POR, and I wouldn't book CBR without a preferred room. I'd rather have one at POR too, but to me it is a necessity at CBR. CBR is just that massive!

We've stayed at both :) CBR twice and POR once (Royal room). Forst time at CBR was our honeymoon, so it was awesome. But the second time was our last experience at WDW and we just weren't as impressed as we were with POR (or the port Orleans resorts in general). We even got a preferred upgrade (free) and adorable anniversary decor (free). It wasn't from the resort lack of trying, I think we just enjoyed the scenery from POR and the theming (we aren't huge beach people actually).

Granted, we don't have kids.
CBR has a better themed pool though!

We just enjoy POR more, in fact we are booked with them for our trip in May!

thanks for all your thoughts -- I think we will do port Orleans riverside again -- I just hope its not excluded from free dining this year!!!
