Hello. I'm trying to decide between the preferred and premium campsites and I'm wondering why loops 100 - 300 are preferred, aside from the size of them. Wouldn't it be preferable to be closer to the boat launch? I was told that the boat is how you get to the parks. Is that not the case? Are the premium loop locations that much more preferable? Also, is it difficult to get your request for loops at the end of May? We'll be there May 22 thru June 2.

The premium loops are more preferred if you want an all paved site with no sand pad and you want to be close to the Fort'so activities like the pool and campfire sing-a-long/movie. The preferred loops are great if you are planning to spend a lot of your time at MK definitely. The boats take you to MK and Wilderness Lodge or the Contemporary. You can use the Monorail from MK to TTC and then from TTC to EPCOT but otherwise you will have to take the bus from the Fort to the other parks. As for getting your requested loop, the best thing I can tell you is get there early on your check in day and if they don't have you assigned to the loop you requested you can ask then if anything is available where you want to be.

Coop,

I stayed in loop 400 last year which is a Premium loop near the 100-300 Preferred loops and close to the boat dock. 700 loop, also Premium, is a long skinny loop with one end (the higher numbers) nearest the boat dock. Of course, being a Disney resort there are bus options to all the Disney parks or you can drive your own car and park for free because of your FW resort parking pass. The boat is convenient to the MK naturally and you can boat to the Contemp or MK and monorail to Epcot.

As far as getting a requested loop, it depends on a number of factors. But do specify your choice in MDE when the Early Check-in option becomes available at 60 days before arrival.

The Preferred loops 'are' closer to the boat launch! We are in loop 100 (site 114) which is right next to the path to the Settlement - can see the boat launch, the restaurant, and the trading post from our campsite. I did online check in 3 days before arriving, asked for 10am check in on Tues. and got everything requested easy-peasy!!

Yes, you do catch the boat to MK, then 'any' (internal) bus to the Outpost which has connections to the other parks. With just a 'very' few exceptions, have been able to get our preferred selection of loops, which is 100! We almost always check in early in the week which makes our chances greater than the later part of the week, plus 100-200 loops are pet free, which helps our chances.

I was also going to add that the Premium sites don't have anywhere to stake a tent, so if you're camping that way or you're bringing a small tent along with your RV, there isn't the sandy area to set it up that the preferred sites have. Preferred are for tent or RV campers, Premium is just for RVs/Popups, etc.

thanks, kat. I just thought of another question. We have three slideouts on our 5th wheel that, when opened, measure about 12 ft across, I think. I'm guessing that it's just the gravel pad that's 10 feet across and plenty of room for the slideouts in preferred sites but now I'm thinking I probably shouldn't risk it. Too many decisions :) Thanks for the info.

Coop,

Sometimes a pic is worth a thousand... you get it.

Below are pics of my site (103) in loop 100, a preferred loop. This one was pretty typical of many of the preferred sites. I have one slide that is almost 4 ft wide. That makes my total width close to 12 ft without the awning. If you have slides on both sides of you're camper, it might be tight, but 12 ft does fit. My trailer is at the edge of the site on the street side. There is plenty of pavement to sit under on the curb side. The awning did extend off the pavement by a little.
