The One Where I Go To Disney World for the Tenth Time: Aug '14 TR - COMPLETE 5/21 LIFE U/D 7/7

Episode 28
The One Where I Don't Understand German

IMG_9649.jpg

When we first got into our ride vehice, I was busy trying to get all four of us into a selfie. (Like my disguise for M so I could post this picture?) :lmao:
IMG_9650.jpg

While I was looking down at my camera to see how the selfie came out, it suddenly occurred to me that I had missed the ride photo. DH confirmed that I had, and also informed me that I missed the language selection. I then realized that M and S were hysterical laughing behind us. I turned around to see what was going on and M told me that DH chose German for our language.

I was like,
no%20you%20didnt.gif

And DH was like,
stanleyyes.gif

And then right on cue, the narration started in German and I did not understand a single word of what was being said.

And then I was like,
almad.gif

And DH was like,
donaldlaugh.gif

And I was like,
dontcareforit.gif

After initially being actually mad, I calmly told DH (who isn’t a fan of the ride to begin with) that his punishment would be another ride later in the trip… this time in English! He, still laughing, agreed and said it was worth it. And eventually I decided it actually was kind of funny. So I paid more attention to the visuals since I had no clue what was being babbled in my ear throughout the entire ride. I can honestly say that the ride is much less enjoyable when you can’t understand a word of what’s being said.

However, when it was time to create our future, it was pretty amusing that we had no clue what was going on. Trying to build your future in another language is actually kind of exciting and suspenseful, since we had no clue what would happen based on our choices.

IMG_9661.jpg

Then the video started and there was the proof that I was not paying attention at all at the beginning of the ride. I was totally looking down at my camera. But DH was also looking down, probably at the language selection thinking, "Hmm... what language should I pick that's NOT English?" :smooth:

IMG_9664.jpg

We might as well both have cell phones in our hands in this picture :rotfl:

After the ride we found ourselves on the big screen and then my and DH’s heads flew off to Germany, our homeland :upsidedow

IMG_9669.jpg

Okay… it was actually all really funny…

One of my favorite things on this entire planet is the fiber optics in the pavement here (and the colorful ones nearby too).
IMG_9593.jpg

I have very few memories of my early trips to WDW, but these lights are one of them, and few things make me happier in my life than standing here and watching them glow. If/when DH and I win the lottery, we will be installing these in our sidewalk and driveway. And you will all be invited to come and see. We’ll also buy DVC and take at least 3 Disney trips a year and writing TRs will become my new full time job :woohoo:
Hmmm....that scenario sounds VERY familiar....oh yeah, it's what I want to do too!!!

Great update....more please?

Well, I totally jinxed it and I apologize to the entire Northeast for the neverending cascade of snowstorms and absolutely frigid weather I have brought to the area since then.

Hmmmm so I supposed we have you to blame now, you're saying? I cannot wait until we finally don't have to pop out of the snow....

.... It's burning cold out!

What a great vantage point for frozen fireworks you all had. And then fantastic to boot. SCORE!

I can't believe you all took a 2 hour trip just for tonga toast. That takes some serious devotion there, but it sounds like it was worth it.

Who wouldn't want fiber optics in their sidewalks? Cement is just so boring and non-magical otherwise :goodvibes
More coming soon!

:rotfl2: Yup, I take full responsibility for the weather in NJ. Boston isn't my fault though. What's going on there is CRAZY!
We got more snow today. Did you?

Yup, serious devotion :thumbsup2 I had been waiting YEARS to have it, so what's a two hour ride? :rotfl:
Okay, so at first I had no clue what you wrote at the bottom. I thought it was a case of crazy autocorrect. Eventually I realized it was German and I should pop that bad boy into google translate. And yes, we enjoyed Spaceship Earth :cool1:

Sorry, got way behind on my comments...

I had just seen fireworks at DHS for the first time, experienced snow in Disney, and was on my way to Fantasmic – my fave :cloud9:
Not a bad evening at all! The fireworks and snow at DHS were really cool when I saw them in August. And I'm excited to hopefully see Fantasmic again in May, as it's been years!

Yes, we trekked across property by foot, bus, and monorail to have TONGA TOAST!
Yummy! Though it is weird to see it without the strawberry sauce, as I've mostly had it at Kona Cafe. Still acceptable, though! :thumbsup2

It’s hard to believe it was 3:00 and we were first getting to a park. I’d never done this on a trip before.
That is pretty crazy!

Also, I have a special place in my heart for the smell of Rome Burning, one of my favorite Disney smells :p
Okay, so this reminds me of an interesting tidbit I found on the DIS a couple years ago: Trader Joe's sells/sold a Smoked Sea Salt grinder that smelled like Rome burning! We bought it a couple times and, sure enough, it's just like taking a big whiff of Spaceship Earth! Last time, they didn't have it, though, so not sure if they don't sell it anymore or were out. Just FYI. :goodvibes Also, the building next to my work sometimes smells like that when I walk through (no idea why), and it always makes me think I'm in Spaceship Earth.

I turned around to see what was going on and M told me that DH chose German for our language.
That's awesome! :lmao: (Also, I took 4 years of German in high school, so I can at least get the gist of it. Loved the video!)

We might as well both have cell phones in our hands in this picture :rotfl:
So true! Hilarious! :rotfl2:

Yes oh yes too much and it's coated with a nice layer of ice in case you may have wanted to remove it. I had to sleep over at work last night into today. I'll go home eventually.........

I will definitely be looking into that! Thanks for sharing!!! :hyper: I hope they still sell it!

Yikes! I hope you're home by now. What a sacrifice you make so that you can be there to help others. Thank you! :thumbsup2

It's supposed to be 40 degrees here today! I can't wait to go outside in a little bit. It will probably feel like spring :rotfl:
Of course, tomorrow's high temp is 17 and low is -2...

The One with Nursery Photos
It’s time for a quick real-life update. I’m wrapping up my second trimester  and realizing that I’m running out of time to finish this TR! I would like it to be finished (if not aaaalllmooossstttt finished) before baby comes. Last weekend I was pretty productive with the updates. This weekend… not so much. I’m going to be out most of the day today but perhaps tonight I’ll have some time to write.

In the meantime, I wanted to share some photos of the baby’s room. We decided a long time ago to decorate the nursery with a Winnie the Pooh theme. I really love the original book illustrations and my very artistic mother designed and painted the walls based on that. She actually did all this in a day! I can’t believe how talented she is (and I didn’t get any of those genes!)

I love it so much! Not to mention…she’ll be exposed to Disney from Day 1. Muah ha ha….

I’ll be back soon with TR updates! Thanks to everyone who’s following along :goodvibes

The nursery is absolutely adorable and gorgeous! Very talented mom :worship: Hope you're feeling well!

LOVE your nursery paintings! :lovestruc Just beautiful! What an amazingly talented mom you have! pooh: And welcome to the third trimester! Getting close now! :goodvibes

I just finished getting caught up on ALL of your TR's and have really enjoyed reading them! I too have a DH who is not a Disney lover and 'puts up' with my Disney obsession:rolleyes:

We are actually having a snow day here in Alabama, so I'll be getting in plenty of time on the Dis!

Congratulations on your baby girl you are expecting-- love the nursery! That was actually the theme of my nursery when I was a baby many moons ago. Maybe that's where my love of Disney started:earboy2:

Can't wait to hear more about your trip! We are going early September so I'm trying to prepare for heat and rain and hopefully no hurricanes!!

What a great spot to view just the fireworks! I wouldn't be inetersted in what's happening on stage either, so great idea.

Sigh, I do love Fantastmic! Especially at DHS. More than Disneyland that's for sure!

I TOTALLY would have made that trek with you to get Tonga Toast! I mean, it's heaven! :cloud9: Like you, i've attempted to make it at home, but it's just a million times better at WDW.

Breakfast in bed?! What a lucky man :worship:

I'm shocked you didn't jump at that extra piece of TT.

:rotfl2: POOR M! No swimming that day.

Wow, I just can't fathom showing up at my first park of the day at 3. I bet that was killing you!

Love those light up boxes! My mom is always wanting to buy me one, but I'm not sure where to put it where DS won't get a hold of it.

That cat and Stanley gif! PERFECT!:rotfl:

Okay I know you were mad, but I laughed the WHOLE way through your pictures! :rotfl: I'm sorry! But seeing both of your heads down on the big screen would have made me crack up if I was there in person! :lmao::rotfl2:

Absolutely love the nursery! It will be complete when the baby's in there :goodvibes

Loving your trip report! Quick question -- what is the Kiss Goodnight at the MK? Also, you mentioned a FastPass que earlier to obtain a HM FastPass; was that que out in front the HM ride or do they have independent FastPass quest located throughout the park now?

The One Where I Don't Understand German

Oh my gosh, I was cracking up after reading this post and the gifs you uploaded with it! Next time we ride Spaceship Earth, I'm totally going to be thinking of this post :) Haha!

Hi! Thanks for the compliment. The "kiss goodnight" is the castle changing colors at the very end of the night at the time of official park close. There is some music and an announcement too. Here's a video from YouTube:

To obtain a FP, you can use the My Disney Experience App or go to a kiosk in the park. They're not located at specific rides anymore, you can book any attraction at any kiosk. There are a bunch in each park. I hope that helps!

Thank you! I'm feeling great. I'm trying to enjoy every last minute of that while I still can because I'm sure that the third trimester is just going to get more and more uncomfortable. But for now, I just love feeling her kick me all day long and that makes all the other little discomforts worth it :goodvibes

LOVE your nursery paintings! :lovestruc Just beautiful! What an amazingly talented mom you have! pooh: And welcome to the third trimester! Getting close now! :goodvibes

Thank you! Love the Pooh emoji! I did not even know that was there! Yup, getting close... but not TOO close. I hope the third trimester goes nice and slow (until I'm too big and miserable to deal anymore, then it can speed up and go fast ;) )

I just finished getting caught up on ALL of your TR's and have really enjoyed reading them! I too have a DH who is not a Disney lover and 'puts up' with my Disney obsession:rolleyes:

Hi and welcome! :wave2: I'm so flattered that you've been reading my reports. Thank you so much for the compliment.

It's always nice to commiserate with people who don't have Disney-obsessed spouses. I'm so jealous of the people on here whose husbands want to go Disney as much as they do. Of course, if DH actually agreed to go every time I asked, we'd be broke. But happy!

A snow day in Alabama! How much snow did you get?

I hope your Winnie the Pooh Nursery is what started your Disney Love, because I need this baby to be Team Disney so we can gang up on DH. He may be able to resist saying no to me, but I doubt he'll be able to resist her :rotfl2:

So your trip is 6 months away! Lucky! Are you ready to book your ADRs and FP+? I'm sure it will be hot but hopefully you won't have to deal with any hurricanes. Unless it comes on the very last day of your trip and forces you to spend an extra week in WDW. Then it would be okay right? Disney has special hurricane rates on their rooms for people who get stranded, so no worries there :thumbsup2 Will you be writing a TR?

What a great spot to view just the fireworks! I wouldn't be inetersted in what's happening on stage either, so great idea.

I'll admit the SE incident was pretty funny after the fact. DH sure knows how to get under my skin

I think I was okay with first getting to a park at 3 because my breakfast was like a drug that kept me happy. :Pinkbounc But don't worry, I won't let things continue on like this forever. I do get to a point where I can't take it anymore and I must get more Disney into my days! And speaking of Tonga Toast, what do you say we make that trek right now? If I leave now in my car, I can definitely make it for breakfast tomorrow morning. And that's including the pee breaks I'll need to take every half hour or so with my squished bladder... You'd have to fly in order to make it by tomorrow morning, are you okay with that? :rotfl:

Wow, your nursery looks beautiful. What a lucky little girl.

Episode 29
The One Where I Try to Give My Husband Away

After our educational ride through space and time, we exited SE and I realized I was now fluent in German! Als nächstes haben wir uns entschlossen zu gehen...
Oh, sorry, just because I speak German doesn't mean that you do... I'll go back to English :rotfl:
Next we decided to visit Innoventions West to take advantage of the Disney Visa cardholders character meet. There was a little bit of a line, maybe 4 other families in front of us. M and I started talking to the CM working the line while DH and S spotted video games nearby so they were gone in a flash. We asked the CM which character(s) were in the meet but he would only say that it was a surprise. We talked about his job and some of the other roles he has. He seemed to really like working for Disney. I wish I could work for Disney. Sigh.

Meanwhile, here’s what the boys were up to.
IMG_9670.jpg

Of course S was playing Cars, his fave
IMG_9672.jpg

When it was our turn for the meet, we called to them to come over and join us. Both of their responses? They said, “In a minute!” like we were their moms calling them for dinner. Meanwhile, there were other people on line behind us waiting and the boys were being totally unfair to them so we were like okay bye, we’re going without you. Then of course they joined us. So, who did we meet?
wd010wdw2014223107943574_7033969898_18.jpeg

Minnie and Pluto! I think I met Minnie more times on this trip than I ever have

IMG_9673.jpg

This greet must have made us thirsty because our next stop was Club Cool. Unfortunately, my evil plans to get M and S to drink Beverly were thwarted by the movie on the Magical Express which totally gave it away. Boo Magical Express! Shame on you! And if you don’t know what I’m talking about, you MUST try the Beverly – it’s delicious! :thumbsup2

DH was dancing, which you can’t really tell in this picture. But he was having a grand ole time clubbin’ at Club Cool.
IMG_9675.jpg

All of that drinking must have made us have to pee, because our next stop was the bathroom in Innoventions. It’s no Tangled Bathroom, but it would do. And on our way we spotted a character I had never seen before: Maleficent!
IMG_9679.jpg

She looked awesome! Not totally evil and villainous but I was enthralled by the way she was moving and talking. I didn’t see the movie but I wonder if she acts like Angelina Jolie’s character in the film. She was done meeting but it was cool to watch her for a minute before she left. And then we continued on our way to the bathroom.

We then made our way to the Imagination Pavilion to see if we could say hi to Figment. This is another ride that DH really doesn’t like. On our way over, we bumped into more characters: Anastasia and Drizella. Oh my gosh, I was like freaking out because I had just recently discovered how stinkin hilarious these two are thanks to other TRs and YouTube. So I was really excited and HAD to meet them. And I dragged DH with me because it wouldn’t have been any fun without him!
IMG_9680.jpg

So naturally, after seeing some of the hysterical interactions others have had with the sisters, the first thing I did was offer DH up as a potential husband.

And DH went
huh.gif

And then the sisters fought over him for just a few moments before Drizella, being older and apparently a little bit wiser, noticed our wedding rings. At that point I assured her that no, he was not my husband, but that my husband was actually S who was taking pictures of us.
IMG_9681.jpg

Drizella didn’t fall for it, and Anastasia just didn’t seem to care. She was happy to take DH all for herself, despite Drizella telling her he was already married.
IMG_9683.jpg

They were too funny and it was a really great time meeting them. If you see them around you must stop and talk to them, especially if you are a man or have one in your group!

IMG_9684.jpg

IMG_9686.jpg

IMG_9688.jpg

When we made it to the Imagination Pavilion the wait time was posted as 15 minutes. I went inside to find out if that was accurate because I just couldn’t justify waiting that long for this ride. I found a very friendly CM from NJ and after discussing our home state for a bit he told me it was probably more like a 10 minute wait, but there was no way I was getting DH to wait in a 10 minute line for this so we decided to just hang out and play with the fun fountains. We had fun watching the jumping water and getting just wet enough to cool down. There were a bunch of unsupervised kids climbing up on the fountains which didn’t seem very safe, not to mention they were blocking the water from jumping anywhere which sort of annoyed me because grown-ups like the jumping water too :guilty:

There were some dark clouds rolling in and it was time for our Test Track FP+ so we began to trek all the way across the park to the other side of Future World.
