Disney movie digital download

I don't understand soemthing.... If I buy a bluray DVD and it comes with a "digital download" --- i go to whatever website the DVD points me to (or in some cases, insert disc into computer), enter the code and the file downloads to my iTunes. I sync it to my iPad or iphone. The sync has finished, The next day, i go to watch it on the portable device, press PLAY, it still seems to be downloading...it plays, but the circular icon is spinning. Is it streaming?? I turn the wi-fi off and now I can't play the movie. NOTE: i turned the wifi off because it seems that when i want to let my kids watch a movie on a plane or in the car, where there is no wifi, i can't play the movie.

So the question is --- is the digital download a streaming privilege?? Does that mean the digital download isn't mine to keep.....i"m dependent on a wifi connection to allow streaming??

Yes, I'm pretty sure that you have to have internet to access and watch your digital library - unless you can download the movie(s) directly onto your device.

If I'm wrong (and I may be), I'm sure someone else will be along shortly to correct me - lol! :D

You should be able to watch the movie with the WiFi turned off. Most of the major Disney releases come with a digital copy that, like you said, downloads to iTunes. Once you sync it up (and transfer it) to a device, the movie is essentially a file on the iPad, iPhone, etc. If you're getting a spinning circle, then something is thinking. Either your device just needed a little longer than normal, or it needs to be restarted, or something else is going on. We ran into a problem with the original Muppet Movie a while back as it included a digital copy that couldn't be downloaded in iTunes; it was essentially just a cloud copy. So for that movie, Robin Hood, and I assume others, you'd need to watch them with your WiFi on.

Hopefully that helps...

It's gotten a little more complicated since they introduced the Disney Movie's Anywhere site and app. If you use that site, you can stream your movies through that site. You can also set up to link through your iTunes, Google Play or VUDU account to stream the movies through them. However, through iTunes or their supported Windows Media Formats, you can download a copy to watch offline. I'm not sure what Windows Media Formats are used for downloading since I use iTunes. If you are linking your iTunes account to your Disney Movies Anywhere account, please be aware that the streaming versions are the only versions being put out there. You'll have to initiate the downloaded version yourself. I hope that helps.

I got kind of confused since I wanted a copy completely downloaded to iTunes that I could copy over to my iPad Mini. I entered the code in DisneyMoviesAnywhere.com and it was available but didn't connect to iTunes. I thought that maybe I blew my chance to download.

Then I tried via the other website listed on the redemption code page and it then connected to iTunes when I entered the code even though I had already redeemed it on DisneyMoviesAnywhere.com.

I just wish there was a less ambiguous way of doing this.
