hi all... Here is what I am trying to do....

I currently have 200 points at the Beach club... It's not enough lol

So I want to buy more - but...

I want to buy at the Boardwalk so that we have the option to rent a villa (combining my BC points w my newly acquired BW points).

My dilemma: my use year for the BC is June... If I buy at Boardwalk - what use year should I aim for so that my BC club points are available to use when my BW points are ready to be used?

I know this is a really basic question - my brain always screws this up.
As always - any help is appreciated!

That is a confusing question.

Use year really has nothing to do with when you can use the points except that it says when you receive the next year's points. Your question about what use year to have to make sure the BWV points are available to be used when your BCV points are available is really a non sequitur.

You will like life much better if you have your BWV points be June use year points and you ensure that your deed is titled exactly as your BCV deed. This will ensure that you can see both contracts in one login for the dvcmembers.com site. If you want to combine your points you can only do that at the 7 month mark, no matter what use year the contracts are.

Hope this helps..

My Suggestion is that you buy an MK resort and stay one year at BCV and the next, say at VGF. You would bank your BCV points when staying at VGF and bank your points at VGF when staying at BCV. That way you can buy a smaller VGF contract and affectively double your available points by banking.

I agree with others. Keep your exact same use year so all your points are in one membership. I have 8 contracts with 3 homes all under one membership because they all have the same use year. At 7 months I can easily combine points to make a reservation. If you have 2 use years you will have 2 memberships and will have to do a once a year transfer or make two different reservations. I'm not sure if you an even link two reservations from different accounts together so you don't have to check out and check in. Keep your planning easy by keeping the same use year. Jmho

What months do you visit WDW? If your current UY is not the best for you then you may want to switch to another UY that will serve you better.

Yes you can link the two different reservations together.

The only way you can use them out of the same account together directly is by having them all combined under one master. That means buying the same UY and have them titled the exact same way. There are ways to work it otherwise but unless you have a pressing need for a different UY, I'd stick with June even if it takes a little longer or you see other contracts that are better in other ways.

BWV and BCV points can never be combined together during home resort time for reservations, regardless of UY. If you want to be able to use BCV and BWV seemlessly at 7 months, then get a June UY as they will be part of the same membership and thus act as one big pool of points from 7 months on. Remember, if you own at both, each set of points can be used on their own prior to the 7 month window...ie: BWV points at BWV and BCV at BCV. Getting another UY means an entirely new membership. So, to combine points for a single night, you would have to transfer between the two which means they would not show up online. Or, make individual nights in each membership and then ask MS to link the two by noting that on your reservations.

Easiest way is to have the same UY, unless, as mentioned, your June UY isn't ideal for certain types of trips and you want more flexibility. I have a June and Dec UY now. It works because it allows me to book my Memorial Day trips with my Dec UY points, my fall trips with my June UY points, and my summer trips with either. This way, I am always traveling within the banking window for points should I have to cancel more than 31 days out.

Yes you can link the two different reservations together.
We have "linked" a few times and still needed to check in and check out. Stayed in the same room, and received 2 separate hotel bills. The last time (Feb), the CM guaranteed that we would not even have to go down to check out/check in because he linked it and VGF would see it as one reservation. Well, they were wrong. I freaked out because they left a voicemail at the end of the first reservation saying "hope you had a nice stay".

In November I didn't have any problems linking 2 (SSR) reservations together, didn't have to check in check out. I will see in a couple of weeks, I linked another two (BC) reservations together. I know Vero beach requires you to check in/checkout.

I linked for the first time last March at BWV. We had the same room and I did not have to check out and I only got one bill.

Thanks everybody - this helped a lot! Now I just have to save the rest of the $$$$ to buy! lol
