Provins Day Trip from DLRP?

Hi All, I was thinking to suggest to our group that Provins might be worth a day trip. I know Disney used to do organised trips but now I think it's just a local bus service and you organise it yourself. The feast of Saint Ayoul looks like fun, as does the banquet of the troubadours and the town looks really interesting. So have any of you been? Have you seen any of the medieval shows, and would it be worth booking and spending a whole day there? I was thinking Saturday 18th July [which just happens to be feast of Saint-Ayoul] when I imagine the parks will be majorly busy as we're not that keen when it's very crowded :]

Thank you for any input Kx

Yes, Provins is definitely worth a visit.

We've drove there a couple of time from the DCR, and watched the Legend of the Nights show one Summer which was excellent.

We went here for the day back in 2008 - we didn't do the organised tour through Disney because we wanted to see the equestrian show they didn't include in their tour and not the show that they did - however we were VERY glad we didn't as all Disney did was give you a ticket and plonk you on the same bus that we were already sat on!

If I remember rightly you catch a Procars bus no.50 from where the pink no.54 bus to the offsite hotels go (just make sure you don't catch the pink no.50!) I can't remember exactly how much it was but it was only a few euro each for a return and I think it was hourly. When you get to Provins there's a very modern tourist information centre where they speak most languages and you can purchase passes to any shows or attractions that you want to see or else just wander round and not spend a penny. I remember going in Caesar's tower, the tithe barn and museum and walking the ramparts (access to ramparts is free), we also watched the equestrian show. It was a really good day out and one I'd really recommend :) I love medieval sites, we spent a few days staying in Carcassonne in the south of France last summer and that was amazing.

Thanks you two, I really like the sound of this. I especially like the idea of the banquet and dressing up [never thought I would say that :] ]. Might take some persuading with the rest though! I suggested it today to my daughter and she said "we're only in DLRP for 5 days, if it's really busy we can do a cocktail day or go on the lake!" . I work on them and tell them what you both said....thank you :] Kx

Hi Carrie, yes long time no see :] Partly work pre Christmas and then complete loss of internet and phone for nearly two months :sad2: I am so glad to see you back...and as helpful as ever! Although scanning through all the hundreds of posts on here, I understand you have been dealing with a great deal, may I just wish you all my very best thoughts and hopes that things are now on the up and that this message finds you well? So chuffed you're back :cloud9:
