Bed Rails

Do I need to request/reserve a bed rail in advance for my 2.5yo, or do I just ask someone on board? Also, we will be in a family verandah stateroom... Does anyone have an opinion as to whether murphy bed or sofa bed are better for a toddler? I'm sure we can figure out - I'm just curious. Thanks!

No, just ask on the ship. Your stateroom host will help. Either bed fine. But Murphy bed may be easier to fix rails to.

Both the sofa bed and the murphy bed are twin sized beds. If you have concerns (and want to add bed rails), I'd suggest the sofa bed, as it will only require rails on one side (the opposite side is against the wall. The murphy bed is open on both sides (albeit the side next to the verandah door is quite close, but there's still a gap).

Thanks so much for the photo, Princess Shmoo, with all of the beds made up. We have a family verandah room so I am fairly certain it's five beds, but my mom is next door and one child (of our 3) will likely sleep with her. I have had bad dreams about a child falling overboard - irrational or not, I get you, Tiffylv!

I would have him sleep on the sofa bed. The murphy bed will block your access to the verandah and it may be nice to go out there while he is sleeping.

Just a note, not all Deluxe Family Oceanview with Verandahs sleep 5. Some sleep 4. They don't have the Murphy bed. You aren't guaranteed that you'll have a murphy bed, unless you have 5 people booked in the room.

You can request the bedrails on your reservation under special requests. You can do it once you are on the ship, too, but it's very easy to add to your reservation.

We didn't even know the ship offered bed rails on our first cruise - the stateroom host took one look at our toddler twins and immediately got bed rails and a diaper genie out for us LOL!

I would strongly suggest requesting it ahead of time. We waited until onboard once and our steward said there were not any available.
