Sorry, don't know how to start a new post. My question is about finding campgrounds near Disney, other than Fort Wilderness. I know I should try to find a forum pertaining to that but don't see one. Can anyone tell me how to ask a new question please and thank you?

I would suggest the Camping forum:

http://www.disboards.com/forums/camping-at-disney-world.24/

It is mostly about camping at Ft Wilderness, but I'm sure there are posters there who are familiar with other campgrounds in the area. Near the top of every page of every forum on the right is a button labeled Post New Thread.

HI DWB! And welcome to the Camping forum. :welcome:

This question comes up fairly often. If you don't want to wait for everyone to jump in with their suggestions, you can scroll down a little bit and you'll find some topics from a week or two ago.

The only non Fort place I have camped close to WDW is Tropical Palms. It is just across the highway in Kissimmee. It is an OK place to stay. Being really close to WDW is it's biggest advantage. I know others have stayed at some public CGs that aren't far.

Give them a few minutes and they will be along to tell you about them.

Howdy, DWB.

I stayed one night at Lake Louisa State Park in January which is a 30 minute drive to WDW. It's south of Clermont on Hwy 27 to the west of Disney and was about $25 per night. It's a basic campground but I liked the price.

Here is its website: https://www.floridastateparks.org/park/Lake-Louisa It was a reservations link that works through ReserveAmerica. You pick a specific campsite number.

Here is the Tropical Palms website: http://www.tropicalpalmsresortfl.com/

The KOA Kissimmee has gotten some love here recently: http://koa.com/campgrounds/kissimmee/

Remember to factor in having to pay to park when you come into the Disney theme parks if you are not staying at Disney's Fort Wilderness campground. I think the daily rate is like $17 per day now.

PS - when were you looking to go?

We usually stay at Thousand Trails, you don't have to be a member. Try rvonthego.com there are lots of campgrounds there.
