i hope they don't redirect you to the guest services line...that thing is a huge snake and would waste at least 30-45 min of time

Well, one thing is looking pretty certain. 2017 is gearing up to be maybe the best year in awhile for Orlando Theme Park fans.

Universal will have Kong already open from 2016, Sapphire Falls 2017, plus Volcano Island - the new Water Park 2017, and the rumors about a Jurassic World expansion with a couple of new rides 2017.

Add in Avatar at AK, that all adds up to an expansive slate for that year we haven't seen in awhile.

Plus, that new vertical 'coaster (which looks really intriguing) in the I-Drive area may be in the mix, as well.....

Im wondering myself when would be the best time to go back and visit orlando. Im in the UK so a trip is expensive and i only visit every few years. Im thinking 2017 would be a good time because a big bulk of things will be finished at Universal and Disney otherwise im probably going to be looking at 2020 for EVERYTHING currently happening to be done like Star Wars land/Pixar Land.

The good news is - we've some time to figure it out. Lot's could still change - including when in 2017. But later in that year should have a lot going for it.

Except, of course, the 2 cycles of ticket price increases between now and then......;)

If your going in 2020 I would post pone for 2021 that is WDWs 50th anniversary.

If avatar will bring something new to this park. Night life. To me that will make me for sure want to spend a full day there. AK is just so well done and well detailed. They have plenty of shows and animal related things to do such as th jungle treks.

I've never been in AK at night time, but I recently saw some photos of the park after dark -- and it is stunning! This is a park that can really come alive after the sun sets. If they continue to add attractions and keep guests around after dinner then I think park go'ers are going to see AK in a whole new way.

New security measures regarding ticket media and entry to the parks being tested at AK next week. If your ticket fails you will be taken to guest services asked a couple questions and a photo will be attached to the ticket for future use.

This is all a cascading effect of having steeply discounted additional days on multi-day passes in order to lock people in and keep them away from other parks. Once you're practically giving away extra days, you have to literally get in the face of your customers to prevent them from swapping or selling their unused days.

Maybe this is also why they have become attached to the policies of steeply raising prices for single-day tickets/APs and also with rationing rides. By essentially giving away the last 3 days of a 7-day vacation, you've distorted your price structure and you're bound to look for more and more complicated and unintuitive ways of getting a return on investment.

Well this is part of that but disneyland has actually had this procedure in place for a long time now so they are just bringing it to WDW. I don't think this has to do with price increases its just a security measure in case tickets are stolen or lost etc.

If my band fails to scan and they make me wait in the customer service line I will be irate. It's not my technology......

This was me last August. Band would work to get into hotel room and for charging but not for the parks. Wife's band would only work for parks not for the other stuff. Both set up at the same time each with an AP. Thankfully I carried around my AP all the time.

Whoa, that's bad. Well there goes all that nice scrim. Are we thinking it may take a little extra time to get that facade stuff finished?:rolleyes1
I would think so. It was actually almost completed so back to work on that one.

That scrim has been down for a couple days now.
Really? The last Dateline Disneyland had it still up. Hmm, it must have happened just a couple days ago. How is it looking?

@rteetz As of 3 days ago it was still up. http://m.ocregister.com/articles/castle-652257-disney-sleeping.html

Finally found it on Instagram. Looks pretty great!

Also of note according to the article "It’s a Small World", also being refurbished, has a giant photo of the actual facade of the ride on the fabric covering the real thing. The fabric is 50 feet high and 185 feet wide."
