Seating changes with BOG lunch?

I realize BOG has traditionally been open seating. However when making reservations today, I can't reserve a party of 6, but I could do a party of 4 and many parties of 2 or 1. I suppose this is plausible since we can all just sit together anyway, but do you think this is changing based on the fact that tables are available based on party numbers? They have no way of knowing who is going to sit where; a party of 2 could sit at a table for 6 for example. If they are just doing body counts, why not allow parties of whatever size until capacity is reached?

I am also in the same boat and cobbled together adrs of small groups to make up our party. I am really hoping we will be able to sit together but it sounds like they will be seating folks now (they told me multiple times on the phone they are not taking room requests but I could do so at the podium).

I made a lunch reservation for 7 this afternoon (had no trouble whatsoever using the MDE app on my phone at about 3:30 pm eastern).

I was able to make ADRs for 7.

I would maybe check again to see if you can make an ADR to include your whole party.

Not all dates I checked were available, but many dates were with multiple time options. May be worth a look. You don't have to cancel your existing to look, but only if something is available and you choose to book to alternate selection.

Just to let you know that this happened to us at Tusker House a few months ago. There were 6 of us, we couldn't get an ADR for 6, but got 4 and 2. We figured that when we got there we'd ask if the 2 groups could at least be close together (grandparents, DS &DDIL, and DGDs). They just sat us at a table for 6 without question. Also, the 2 ADRs were 5 minutes apart, and we all just checked in at the earlier time.

following....want to see if can choose room. really want west wing, ballroon even would be nice, really not feeling the music box room. Made a ressie for 6 yesterday @ 5pm eastern time...

Nothing has changed except you now need ressies - still seat yourself wherever you want - help is still available, if desired. Any number of people can be seated together.

This was our experience when we had lunch there today. Nothing has changed. Once you have ordered and paid, you choose what room you want to eat in and seat yourself at whatever table you want. If your party had to be split up to get ADRs for everyone, you can still all sit together, provided your ADR times are similar.

So are ADR's mandatory for lunch now?

I would say so. It has always been hard to get in there, and the FP for lunch just proved that Disney neded to do something about the problem. I woudl say try to get an ADR, becasue walking up is not really successful.

Ate there yesterday for lunch, was able to get ressies day before, but there was a 'long' line of standby and seems like all (or most) were able to get in, so yes, walking up 'is' still successful. Was even able to get ressies for next Tuesday, yesterday!

I am glad it worked for you, and hope I did nto imply it was impossible, but realistically, standby is not something to be relied on. I think that now ADR's are in place, along with the CC charge if you are a noshow, standby will be very hard to get.

Are there smaller two person tables there? I worry that it'll be hard to find somewhere to sit.

That place is massive! You will find a place to sit. I sat at a 4 top with my DGD.I cannot remember if there were 2 tops. I usually choose them if possible anywhere we dine if there are just two of us.

Thanks for all of your responses. I am happy to see that the seating policy has not changed. I was able to get an ADR for 4 and then 2 ADR's of 1 each for our party of 6, all at the same lunch time. Isn't that silly? I had to create 2 new MDE accounts to get the parties of 1. I guess my original question was not if you could book big parties, but if there was clearly enough room for more people, why couldn't I just book a party of 6 to begin with? And why could I book 2 parties of 1 and not one party of 2? There aren't any single tables. I'm sure there is an answer, but clearly I don't know it! I foresee a lot of tables for 1 as another way to get around the dilemma of eating here with a big party at lunch. Just one more Disney glitch!:sad2:

There are 2 tops. Plenty of them.

I've also seen tables just pushed together to accommodate larger groups. ( Not hard to do, considering how close together many of these tables are, anyway).
