Official Disney Cake Chatter - Part IV! (2012-2016)

I just got an email back from Donald at the Contemporary. Does that mean he will be doing the cake? Or is it possible I could still get Brian? Any advice about Donald? Also they asked for my budget. The one tier Splash mountain cake on this site was $80 about a month ago from boardwalk bakery and there's no price on the two tiered one post back in December. I'd like to spend no more than $100 but could go up to $125. But $80 would be great. If you say your budget is $125 do they keep going until you hit $125 or is it possible to get a cake for $80 or $90?

I don't think who answers the emails has anything to do with who ends up doing the cake. We didn't correspond with Brian before our first cake order, but his name was on the cake boxes. The next time we corresponded with Donald but I don't have a clue who made them because there was no name on the box that time. I would think the timing of your cake delivery and who is working the days it would need to be made is more a factor than who emails you but that's a total guess.

Yes and yes!

Thanks. I think we'll pick it up at the Wave then! We've got a two bedroom and I think we're going to pick up deep dish pizzas from Giordanos (they love Chicago pizza). We can surprise them with the cake in the room!

When you get a fondant cake, it has buttercream underneath. You just peel off the fondant. But if the design you want doesn't require fondant, then, yeah, I say go allllll buttercream!

I'm going to try for no fondant since it will save some money too!

If you only want to spend $80, tell them you want to spend $80. They can modify the design. I know both Chef Donald and Chef Brian answer emails at the Contemporary, but I don't think that determines who'll make the cake. Maybe @CakeManBri will come along and let us know. :)

Thanks! I know whoever makes it will do a great job!

Somehow I messed up they way you quote people. I'm sorry, but thanks for all the help!

Thanks. The cake is for a Sunday so it could be Brian. Someone mentioned he works Thursday to Monday! I'm so excited for this cake!

Anyone know how long it could take for Pat to call back? I left her a message today but need the cake for March 12th....nothing fancy just a mini cake but it's a surprise for my DD's 16th b-day.

You need to call Fulton's directly to see what your options are. And if you don't like those, you can try working with a local cake baker like It's Tasty Too or Party Flavors to get a cake made and delivered. You'd just need to meet them somewhere to take delivery of the cake.

I did email Fulton's and got a reply. The manager was very nice and said that if i had Disney make the cake they would gladly serve it at our dinner. My only problem is first, seeing if Disney will make the cake and second, getting it delivered somewhere/sometime in a way so that DH doesn't know about it! lol...Any advice, greatly appreciated!!

That's the thing—none of Disney's pastry teams deliver cakes to Downtown Disney. You would have to either pick it up from the resort where it was made or, if you are staying at a Disney resort, have it delivered to your room. That's why I suggested using and outside vendor who can actually meet you at Downtown Disney.

DD is turning 3 on our trip. I've seen some pictures of minnie-face-shaped tarts at Boardwalk Bakery for like $6.49 or something, but I don't know how old those pictures were. Can anyone confirm that these are still available? That would be perfect as a Bday "cake" for just the 4 of us.

I just called Pat at GF again and still no response. I'm getting a little nervous....I need a cake in less than 2 weeks. I've now left 3 messages.

I took this pic 3 minutes ago! The Mickey and Minnie tarts are both standard offerings they have every day.

Call Private Dining instead of Pat and tell them what you're trying to do. (407) 824-2474
Thanks....I did call Private dining yesterday and they advised my to call Pat. LOL. Anyway, Pat called back later last night. In fact she called twice, not realizing she had called me an hour before. So the cake is ordered. She asked me what colour icing I wanted and I said that I really didn't care what they did with it but to make it special for my DD.

Is it odd that she didn't ask for anything other than name/date/time info? No credit card or anything?

Will they still customize the two tier mini cakes, or can you only get them in white and chocolate nowadays with plain outsides?

It was $55! Sorry I forgot to include that. I just looked back at my past emails.
Hope you don't mind me asking this, was the price before taxes and gratuity? This is ideally what I am looking for or a simple mini two tier one in chocolate with buttercream filling and sugar Mickey heads evenly scattered like confetti.

Glad you finally connected! The cost of the cake will be on your bill at the restaurant.

Where are you looking to have the cake delivered? It depends on the location.

We are planning on ordering a cake to celebrate my in-laws' 50th anniversary. We're looking at adding a painted Minnie and Mickey to the top of the cake, either individually or using the anniversary mold. Does anyone know what the prices for these currently are if we ordered it for delivery to either Cape May or Kona? Thank you!

Also, does anyone have pictures of the painted Anniversary Mickey and Minnie? I can't seem to find pictures of it other than with gold accents.

So I just called to order a cake for my daughters 4th birthday on April 29th to be delivered to 1900 Park Fare. I ordered a 2 tier mini cake and I asked what flavor I could get and the lady informed me vanilla or chocolate. I'm sad, my daughter really likes lemon cakes, I was hoping I could get her a lemon cake.

Ohhh! Ok. understand what ur saying! Lol..took me a minute but I got it! Lol...guess I have some decisions to make....

I heard from Brian at the contemporary twice. We are doing an 8 inch chocolate cake with peanut butter butter cream and chocolate ganache for the filling and chocolate buttercream icing. No fondant. Single layer speak sh mountain design. Quoted at $106. I'm assuming it's that high even though we aren't getting fondant icing because of the special fillings. The cake in the photo I sent was $80 from the Boardwalk Bakery and it had fondant.

Brian said I need to call and order the cake now that we have discussed the details. I did send some photos.
When you order the cake do they take all your information down again? And then do you get any sort of a confirmation? Do the chefs at the Contemporary then remember that you've emailed them when they see the order or do you just hope for the best?
