Cape May Crab Legs

Here now, went to Cape May last night. The crab legs were hot, full, and delicious. Also, contrary to what I had heard before, the crab legs were on both sides of the buffet area - 'not' served by your waiter at your table. Had a wonderful meal and service as usual. Have ressies again for next week!
Yummy!

Also, our waiter brought us out steaming bowls of 'clam' chowder, 'not' the seafood chowder that is on the buffet. The only difference is minus the crab and corn that they add. I don't personally like the corn in it, so every trip we just ask for the clam chowder - no problem!

I'm actually happy to hear this.

I read somewhere that the Cape May buffet was comparable to Golden Corral. For that reason, I've shot down dining there whenever a family member recommended it... but maybe we'll book it next year.

I know what you mean. I always hesitate to book somewhere when I read negative reviews. We ate dinner at Cape May last year and I loved the crab legs, but that was about it. Don't get me wrong - I "liked" other stuff too, but the crab legs made the meal for me. We aren't rushing back there, but we wouldn't recommend against it.

Thanks, OP, for posting the update!

I have always enjoyed Cape May Cafe, especially the crab legs! I will miss going there on our next vacation, but we are just doing a short stay before our cruise.

Actually Golden Corral is a notch BETTER than Cape May Café, imo!
But I always recommend that people try Cape May at least once if they've never been and make their own judgment. We've tried it 3 times over the last 11 years and have been disappointed/underwhelmed each time. We WANT to like it as we love seafood but we just can't. I will say we've never had a problem with the service and our servers had been delightful! We won't be going back in the foreseeable future.

I'm glad the op had some good crab legs at Cape May. The two times I have been there they were not very good at all. I had the experience where they were not very full, rather stringy and not all that hot. The rest of the food was average at best. Would I call it Golden Coral quality? No, but it wasn't that much more of an improvement. I've done it twice and doubt other than breakfast (which I love) will I return for dinner.

This was the one adr I was worried about before our trip in November and boy did the place prove me wrong. It was fantastic and clean and the food was awesome. Nothing like a Golden Corral. I'd compare Chef Mickeys dinner buffet to some places like that before Cape May. I am glad we went because all of my expectations were way off!

It is!! Ick!!

To each their own!!! Nice not to have your competition!! :)

Well, glad it's just your opinion - a restaurant full of people there last night would have proved you wrong from all the 'chowing down' we saw!! Didn't see any complainers - the crabs, chowder, and shrimp flowed fast! :-)

I wonder if the people who really like it primarily live in areas where they do not have easy access to seafood like FL natives or those who live in coastal states.

We love it there. I hadn't planned on it for our next trip in order to try someplace else. I have two teenage boys that nearly cried when they heard that. They didn't have to twist my arm too hard and my husband was happy too when it made the rotation.

Well, actually I'm a south LA gal who loves her seafood and can cook it too!! ;)
And, we 'love' Cape May Clambake!

But, no problems! Everyone has their own opinions about every restaurant at Disney! :goodvibes

Every time I drive past the Golden Coral during dinner time the parking lot is packed. Doesn't mean the food is good inside. :rotfl2: I'm just kidding (not about the parking lot though). I'm truly glad you enjoy Cape May. You are so correct though, everyone is going to have an opinion. Like any restaurant, some are going to love the place and others are going to hate the place. With me, I'm of the latter concerning Cape May. But then again, I just am not a big fan of buffets.

To paraphrase what many on this board use as an excuse to defend their favorite WDW eatery, maybe Cape May Café was having an "on" night when you were there. My three experiences have certainly been "off" nights.

I'm sooo glad to hear some positives for a change...I currently have an ADR for 14 there in August, & have been hearing so many bad reviews...I know I have to try it for myself, but hearing what you ( OP ) said, makes me a bit more positive...Will be licking my chops in a few months...Thanks again!:thumbsup2

I love Cape May Breakfast.
I did the seafood buffet last year.
Loved the crab legs! They are my fave.
I have an ADR there on the 8th.
