Wine and Dine 2015

Aww...now I kinda want to do the 5K also. Hubby said that he'll run whatever I sign him up for, so it's all up to me. I'm just a little nervous that getting up so early for the 5K will mean I have a tough time running the 13.1 that night. If I do it, I suppose I'll have to build a nap into the schedule, so that means park time will be drastically cut back. Decisions, decisions...

Doooo it! Doooo it! Doooo it!

@AThrillingChase you need to log into the Passholders section of the Disney website. There's an Events and Special Offers section, and in there is a runDisney section.

Close to March 3 a special runDisney.com link will pop up there and if you go to that page (which I think only works when you are signed into the Disney AP site) on early registration day, links will be there for each event. They are Active.com links. You sign up using those.

Yes, spots go quickly. I read that the AP/DVC spots make up about 10% of all early registration slots, but I don't know if that's true.

For 2014 both the half and the 5K sold out very quickly (in hours or less, I forget)...possibly because it was the 5-year anniversary but that caught everyone by surprise. Both races were definitely full in less than 24 hours.

I just finished my first half at PHM a few days ago and it went well so now I'm onto wine and dine! I ran the jingle jungle 5k a couple of years ago as my first race, and have been itching to work up to the half. I stayed at the yacht club and loved watching the runners on the boardwalk from my first floor patio, I think that is what got me. I love this course - especially running through the Osborne lights (hoping they make it back!) and the boardwalk area. Can't wait!!

I'm curious about the course changes with all the construction going on at DHS. During the Full Marathon in January, we partially ran through the back lot tour area around and through the Osborne lights (or what was left of them as they were coming down at the time), then around to the construction walls around the hat (which will be completely gone and construction fences down by November) and down Hollywood Blvd then left turn and out the side.

Did I mention I'm ecstatic the Sorcerer's Hat is GONE as of this morning!!

I seem to recall in 2013 the W&D had a similar route, but there was much more backstage course prior to Backlot Tour. With that area under construction as well, I'm curious how they modify the course. We shall see.

I was excited to see last night that the first night of MVMCP is November 8th. Since we're staying until Monday, we can actually go! My husband thinks it's weird because it's "too soon for Christmas stuff" but I don't care. I've never done MVMCP, and I won't pass up the chance to go when I'm going to be there anyway!

This is exactly the internal debate I am having with the 5K! DBF says he is onboard for the 5K, which makes me think I have to take advantage of him being willing to run with me. I'm thinking maybe we will take it really slow and then hopefully go back to the resort to relax before the half later that night.

I have a little time to decide, but I think being on the boards and on FB will end up pushing me towards registering.

After discussion with my husband last night, we've decided to pass on the 5K this year. The half will be our first RunDisney event, and we just don't know what to expect in terms of our energy level. I also want to be sure to have enough energy to enjoy the after-party (assuming it's not raining this year). Plus, for some reason hubby has gotten it into his head that he'll PR in the half. I told him that was insanity, but he thinks I'm crazy because I plan to stop for character pictures. Different styles, I guess. I have no plans to stress about my time other than not getting swept!

@Keels @Ariel484 Thanks for the help! So glad I won't have to fight with active on registration day like I did with PHM. Such a disaster!

Since I haven't heard anything, I am assuming they won't do the Disney visa discount either. But, it also seems like they have just done away with those entirely because they haven't popped up in awhile from what I've been seeing, at least.

Very valid points! I had to skip the party in 2013 because I wasn't feeling too great, so I really would like to enjoy it this year, as well. Good for your hubby! I think the morale at Disney races is huge in getting a PR. Different styles, same medal. By the way, Wine and Dine was my first runDisney event, too!

I'm having the same internal debate about the 5k too. My husband is willing to do it with me and he's never been into running before so I think it would be a good opportunity to run together. He won't be doing the half but I am and I'm worried it might make me too tired for the half and the party later that night. But maybe if I nap and take it easy after the 5k... Decisions, decisions :)

Oh wow! I was sad earlier because I couldn't make MNSSHP work with our schedule, but this makes everything all better! I haven't been to MVMCP since I worked at MK!

i am signing up for the W&D this year! I'm also signing my husband and daughter up to run the Jingle Jungle with me.

Joining in!! Hubby and I haven't completely decided if we are going yet, but I'm convinced...just gotta get him on board! We did Dopey in January, and I just got back from PHM on a girls trip. We are doing Dumbo for our C2C, so I may have a hard time convincing him. If I do, I'm definitely doing the 5K and Half. I just want to run a Christmas-themed race! How fun!!

This just helped me decide my travel dates! (if we go) I want to do the MVMCP so badly! I love everything Christmas!!

What is the crowds like for a MVMCP? is it worth it to even go? What do they offer anything that isn't offered on any other evening? (total WDW newbie here)

I picked my dates and have now realised I could come a day earlier and do the Halloween party, or stay an extra day and go to my very first WDW christmas party! Or I could go all out and do both ;)

The more I read this thread the more I want to do the 5K as well (the half will be for my C2C). But that depends a LOT on whether I get up in the ballot for the NYC marathon this week (as that is the weekend before). I think if I get that then two races in one day a week later might be a little over the top. What do others think? I should also add I am keen to do RnR Las Vegas the following weekend as well...

Too many awesome races!!! :dogdance:

Has anyone ever done the pre-race taste? If we go, this will probably be a non-park trip other than the Christmas party. Wondering if the pre-race taste is worth the money and if we would have time to do a couple of rides prior.

I posted this in the early registration thread too and I'm hoping someone can help me out. I'm looking for some info on how exactly the early registration works. I'm not an actual DVC member, but my dad is, so the account belongs to him. If I log in to his account and register, will it question me at all, or is all I need access to the link? I just don't want any problems to arise later. And I also assume you have to have an active annual pass to use that option. I have an annual pass purchased for an upcoming trip in April, but it won't be activated until we get there. So I'm figuring I can't do that one.

If anybody who knows anything could let me know, that would be great! I've never registered for a RunDisney event and don't want to mess anything up.

I'll be there! I'm super excited since I haven't done the Wine and Dine half before. Getting anxious and hoping early registration opens on Tuesday March 3rd! I think we're going to stay at Caribbean Beach, stayed at PO Riverside last weekend for the Princess half and the Bus transportation wasn't ideal for a run event.

I did not have an annual pass last year but one of my friends did, it would not let her register anyone but herself. One of the many reasons I went from a seasonal pass holder to an Annual pass holder. Until you activate your annual pass and receive your card (which will have your account number on it) it unfortunately won't work. If you do find another way to register early let me know, if not good luck and make sure to register the minute registration opens :)
