Parking at DTD Marketplace

Is there any parking at all at DTD Marketplace? I see cars in the lot, but can't find a way to get in that area. I know I can park in the garage and take the water taxi, but I can't walk for any appreciable distance and the walk from the garage to the water taxi would exhaust me for the day. I just want to pop into E of S for some take-away sandwiches, so even time-restricted parking would work. I also have a handicapped paring placard. Any info is appreciated.

I haven't been in 2 years but there has always been parking at DTD Marketplace. Finding a parking spot can sometimes be a challenge though. I have heard or read on the boards that there is construction work being done there and this might be restricting access to the parking lots.

Please update if you find out things have changed as we are heading back in August this year and would like to visit DTD again.

There is construction in the parking lots. I would rethink this if you just want Earl of Sandwich. If you are going on a weekday it might be feasible. But I really wouldn't suggest it. The Parking right now is still a bit of a mess. You're going to end up a distance away even with a handicapped parking The Closest parking is a Garage near Planet Hollywood.

They are doing constuction in the parking lot that is closest to the marketplace. I was there a few weeks ago and watched as they teared down a building in that area.

We parked in the handicapp section in the WestSide by Cirque and took the water taxi behind the
House of Blues. We had a scooter and we were also going to Earl of Sandwich. We also took the
water taxi back. I don't know if you want to go thru that just for take-away. It will take
some time to get back and forth.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I think I'm just going to have to keep my E of S cravings in check until the parking situation is better. Or maybe I could send one of my minions....

Since I do not know if they changed the construction or not, but when I was there at the end of November, once I turned into the parking lot, I turned right (facing DTD) and just drove as far to the right as I could. I ended up right behind WoD, next to the valet parking. I was just hoping for something in that area since my mom and sister both have mobility issues and lucked out.

You were one of the last to use that lot. It closed for Disney Springs construction around the end of November.

I believe that valet parking also closed, with the valet location by Cirque the only one still open.

Thanks, I thought it was closing, but I was not sure if it had already happened.

We have an 11am reservation at T-Rex on a Tuesday, mid-March. We will be coming from RPR at Universal. We will be switching to POR that day. I was thinking it would be quickest to park at DTD, eat lunch, and then drive to POR to checkin. However, I am wondering if it would be quicker to go to POR and take the boat to DTD. If we went to POR first, would we have to checkin to park there? I don't want to waste too much time at POR. Thanks

Wow, we're in a similar situation as you are! We have 11 am lunch at T-Rex on 3/17, and arrive to POR that day (coming from Universal or elsewhere in the Orlando area the day before).

The boats start running at 10 am, so try to check in much earlier and hop on the first boat out. The POR parking lots are never super crowded, so you'll find a spot. (and the lots near the guest rooms are even less crowded than the main building lot)

I think we're checking in before we head to lunch so we can make our FPs at HS later in the afternoon.

Wow:eek: 3/17 is when we are going too. We have never stayed at POR. Do you have to be checked in to park there long term?

We want to get lunch and checking in done as quickly as possible, because I have a massage at GF at 2pm and then DH and I have dinner at V&A at 6pm. Depending upon the weather, DH and DS will either swim or do some FP+ at MK. I guess we should try to get out of RPR ASAP. Google shows 15 min from RPR to POR right now, which is 8am EST. Is 15-30 min normal?

Thanks. Maybe we will see you there:wave2:

So does anyone know who long construction at DTD is going to take? We go in August and whilst I shall watch the board for updates I am already having cold sweats at not getting my fix of the place!

The construction at DTD is tied to a name change to Disney Springs

Works continues on Downtown Disney's transformation to Disney Springs, the expanded and refurbished shopping and entertainment district scheduled for a spring 2016 opening.
