Hi all!

I have a super short planning window (eek! 1 month and 1 week away already!) but I thought I'd start a planning journal anyway.

My boo (Sky) and I (Teukie) - nicknamed "The Wallaroos" - are having an Escape Wedding April 3 at WDW. Because our families live far apart and have really different...personalities, shall we say?...we opted to have 3 separate family gatherings (my family, Sky's family and our friends) to celebrate our wedding. The Disney trip has been on the books for months for my family (parents, brother, sister and their families) so we decided to turn spring break into our wedding! My brother is officiating and his two sons (ages 8 and 11) will be our attendants, and my sister's two boys (ages 2 and 5) will be jointly doing flower petal & ring carrying duties.

I'm not too sure how these things are supposed to work, but I am excited to share more details about our planning with you! Our families know, but we don't plan to tell our friends until after we are married, so we don't have a ton of spaces to share our excitement with.

Wedding: April 3, 2015
Venue: Sea Breeze Point
Photographer: Live Happy Studio

Sky and I met in college in 2009. We were instantly smitten with each other but we both had a lot of -ish- to work through before dating became a possibility for us. It took 7 months but we finally made it "official" in April of 2010. I moved to Seattle a month later after graduation with my cat, Cinnamon, and Sky joined us that July. We adopted a new kitty (Nimbus) a year ago and still live in Seattle. I am a jack of many trades (mixed media artist, burlesque performer, costumer/jewelry designer, to name a few) but I mostly work as a nanny. Sky manages a local ice cream shop. Our dream is to run a small farm/stead guesthouse with our two best friends...complete with goats, ducks and tons of fantastic food. Look forward to it!
We are both big nerds who love dinosaurs, Harry Potter, board games, K-pop and making things! Our favorite date nights are Korean BBQ and paint-your-own-pottery, or maybe just homemade popcorn and a 1500 piece jigsaw puzzle. We are both Cancers (actually, our cats are too!) so we are very, very, VERY nested. we also love to cook and enjoy all the delicious bounty that the PNW has to offer.

I love paint your own pottery! You should do a wedding plate or something of the sort when everything is all said and done.
Your wedding is coming so close! YAY! Can't wait to see all your ideas & plans fold out!

@Doodlebug25413 we are planning to paint a pair of wedding ducks as a decoration! i don't have time to get a set from Korea, and some of the ways the ducks are gendered is uncomfortable for us. but we can definitely paint our own :)

it's coming up SO QUICKLY! i just got off the phone with kristin and she is working on our BEO. it was great to talk to her about the details and how the day will go. and our annual passes arrived! i don't know when we will be activating them but we are excited to get back to disney (perhaps a disney-moon?).

here are the details at the moment!

venue: Sea Breeze Point

floral:
2 contemporary calla lily bouquets in orange and dark pink, wrapped with turquoise ribbon
5 coordinating boutonnieres for our officiant, flower boy, ring boy and attendants
aisle petals, toss petals and flower boy petals in orange and pink
white chair covers with sashes in alternative turquoise and orange
2 bunches of balloons on the stairs outside the gazebo entrance
2 smaller bunches of balloons next to the guestbook table

music:
processional - "he's a pirate" from pirates of the Caribbean
recessional - she's checking on "seize the day" from newsies for us :)

cake:
mickey's delight with silver mickeys and sugar floral topper (white orchids with orange and purple centers)
chocolate cake with dark chocolate mousse and fresh raspberries

no reception or DP, but we plan to relax on the boardwalk with some scoops and slices after!

Welcome!! I'm excited to follow along as you plan. :) I'm getting married at SBP too. It's a beautiful venue.

Also, your cats are so adorable!

I've been working on a few diy projects! 1) rhinestone iron-on transfers for our shirts. they will say "the wallaroo wedding" on the front and the number 1 or 2 on the back. since i am a burlesque performer i have plenty of rhinestones on hand and just had to get the special transfer paper. it is reaaaaally tedious to trace letters but i think it will look OK.

a little "Up" mailbox! we will have fuji instax (polaroid) cameras on hand and the finished photos will go in the mailbox. also pictured - ribbon wands! we are going with a petal toss exit but thought these might be fun as favors (we already had the supplies) or maybe in photos.

i just ordered a set of "Up" photo booth props (and have asked my family to bring some of their silly hats...we have many!). i'm probably over-planning, but i don't want anyone (adult or kiddo) to get bored. since we are bringing in our own photographer and have about two hours of group photos scheduled beyond what Disney provides, we probably won't be using our post-toast/cake time for portraits.

i ordered a bunch of clear bubble umbrellas *JUST IN CASE* and they arrived today. THEY ARE HUGE! beautiful, but huge. as in...won't fit in a suitcase huge! i think we'll be shipping these to the hotel in one of those "golf club" boxes! after seeing the size we decided we only needed 6 or 7 (11 people in our party, 7 adults and 4 children) instead of the 10 that i bought. so...less stuff to ship! woohoo!

we also are getting some bubbles for photos. our favorite brand of bubbles, Pustefix (plentiful beautiful and long lasting bubbles!) has a small container that has the wand attached to the lid, so it's a really easy and not messy! the littlest is only 2 but apparently he can blow bubbles ("just not with finesse," was how my mother put it). i think a photo of us blowing bubbles together would be pretty cute. and it is totally a favorite pass time of me and sky.

i'm definitely an over-planner but i think in this case it isn't a bad idea. now that we've signed our BEO and let Disney take the wheel, we can focus on the details. we are still putting the finishing touches on our outfits, and then it's hair and tanning and makeup perfecting! and packing. ugh.

leaving in 3 weeks!

Your wedding is going to be such a gorgeous reflection of you both!! The details your doing are so fantastic :D I'm so impressed with how many DIY details you're getting done in such a short time frame. Just so much wonderful.

@LadyD awww thank you! it really is. i hope my family likes it too. this is as much about them as us in a way. although having a "wedding" doesn't really matter to me & sky a lot, it means a lot to my family. so the thoughtful details are all part of this being a gift to them. we were originally just going to do a courthouse ceremony locally, and then travel to see our respective families later this year to celebrate. but when i found out we could legally marry in Florida (and my brother is officiating) it just seemed so perfect!

tonight i'm thinking about jewelry! that's one area we haven't gotten to yet. we both have really ornate outfits so something simple is probably best, but of course we also don't really like "simple". right now i'm loving the idea of a longer necklace with a vintage key and maybe some pearls or teal stones/crystals (my shirt is orange). i was looking through my stash for inspiration and took some photos of the larger vintage key necklaces and other possible styles.

Everything looks great! You will love Seabreeze Point. My wife and I had a photo shoot earlier this week around the Boardwalk area. It has so many fun spots that work great for photos.

p.s. The ice cream shop at the Boardwalk is yummy and really fun for photos. There are some pretty lady statues that my wife pointed out to our photographer to include in the shots. :-)

yesterday was a big wedding plan errand day for us! we stopped by the Disney store and found R2D2 kid's umbrellas on clearance - we bought 5! they are much more kid friendly than the gigantic clear bubble ones we have, and they fit in a suitcase so it will be less to mail out!

we also stopped by the David's Bridal to do a little accessory shopping. we left with a lot more than expected but it is all sparkly and wonderful. we each got earrings and a bracelet, and i also picked up a necklace (Sky already has one). and totally unexpectedly we both got headpieces! i had a peacock fascinator that i was planning to wear, but i've had trouble getting it to work with my hairstyle. when i tried on a tiara, i just sort of fell in love! and i think it will work well with my short hair. when sky tried on this hippie-ish rhinestone flower crown, it looked so natural in their curls! terrible photos below:

our rings have shipped and should arrive this week! i'm almost finished altering my orange shirt and my tailcoat should be arriving soon as well. we finally matched creams for sky's shorts, and i just have to swap out the buttons (silver for gold). i had a really traumatic time bra shopping yesterday, so i may butcher an existing one to make it work, strapless bras are terrifying to me. this means our outfits are nearly complete! we also picked up a handful of tiny pinwheels to use as a decoration. we picked up matching black tank tops to some turquoise ribbon so i can finish off our celebration shirts. i finished sewing my nephews' neckerchiefs a few nights ago and now i'm working on their sashes. it's machine work so it shouldn't take long once i cut the pieces.

i have a pile of fabric to turn into hankies for keeping try in the humidity and i bought some new sandals for all the walking in the parks!

we are practicing or makeup skills, getting last minute items, and starting to pack!

all this and sky just got a promotion and i have had two job interviews!

whoooooosh! time has just flown by!

Don't talk about bra shopping. I had to go girdle shopping the first time a few weeks ago. NOT FUN. Trying to pee in one of those things is ridiculous.

You two look so adorable. :-) Can't wait to see more planning!

i got my hair colored and lash extensions! i'm really excited about the color. i pulled the faux pearls off the tiara last night and i've ordered some swarovskis to replace them. i needed more bling lol!

OMG we are leaving in less than a week! we have both been super busy with work and getting ready, so I haven't had any time to update!
my coat arrived on wednesday and it is currently at the tailor getting bustled and a few other alterations. i love it - the design is really brilliant and it feels totally me. there were just a couple of small details to adjust, plus a gigantic train to bustle! because it was not a professionally made wedding piece, the train is not easy to bustle, but the seamstress i found was lovely and i feel totally confident that she can get it done! we are picking it up on wednesday! i'll post pictures then.

i'm still working on a few of my other outfit elements. i bought an orange shirt on eBay but i had to alter it - it was a high necked tank style with a ruffle down the front and i turned it into a strappy v-neck tank. however i'm having an impossible time finding a bra to wear that doesn't show! i don't wear underwire and have a large band size. i picked up a few shirts at Old Navy the other day that i think could work, but i have to wait until i can try them on with my altered jacket. the challenges of planning a wedding with only 2 months lead time!

this shirt i absolutely LOVE, however the sheer front panel presents a challenge. i think i'll need a white bandeau or something...
Screenshot 2015-03-23 at 12.51.29 PM.png

this one is ok - it might be plain enough to wear under my coat, but i'm a little worried about the bubble hem.
Screenshot 2015-03-23 at 12.49.45 PM.png
meanwhile i'm just buying every orange top i can find in my size! sadly...there aren't very many out there. i was hoping that Torrid would come through for me - i have this white shirt from there that is perfect, two layers of organza and the right amount of billowy and fitted, but no luck in orange. i considered dyeing something to match but couldn't find anything made out of dyeable material.

sky is currently choosing between two different outfits. one is white with a lace cape (my fav) that they would wear over a teal cami.
Screenshot 2015-03-23 at 12.42.09 PM.png

the second option is awesome orange blazer over a white romper. both suit sky and look amazing! if sky wears orange i will wear teal (i have a plain teal tank top just in case!). we're both so finicky about our outfits i kinda think sky won't choose until our wedding day!

lastly, i've been working on some of the details for my nephews. i made neckerchiefs in scout sashes in coordinating colors, and i just finished these hankies last night - they're embroidered with each of their names. i'm making ones for me and sky as well, but they are still in progress! i'm also going to make two quick and dirty clip on bowties for the nephews wearing bowties - just in case the ones my sister got don't have the right feel.

and my mom sent me a photo of the flower boy baskets she made!

lastly, i've been repairing/altering the jewelry and accessories that we bought (replacing rhinestones, adjusting chains, etc) and we have both been practicing our makeup, plotting hair removal strategies and packing up our suitcases!

WE DID THE THING!
i'm still collecting phone photos from my fam, but our super amazing photographers LiveHappyStudio actually got us back our photos TODAY (we got married on Friday). the gallery is online, our disk is in the mail and they even blogged about us! anyway, have a peek here: http://www.livehappystudio.com/blog/2015/4/5/teukie-skys-up-themed-wedding

disney was a blast. we had such a great time! we got lots of nephew time in, explored the parks thoroughly and even got super into pin trading. i don't know where to begin!

just looked through all your photos - lovely! i can see your personalities shine through the photos - i know this is what you were wanting! there would be so many that would look fantastic as canvas prints or framed!

The very last picture where the 2 of you are holding balloons against the brick wall. That is a great picture!!!
And those boys look like they had a great time!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!
