RC Lib of The Seas-Bermuda

After 7 Disney cruises, we are going to try RC out of NJ. Not expecting it to live up to the DCL cruises, but thinking it might be enjoyable in a different way.

From those of you that might have done this trip, at the Bermuda port, is it easy to grab a cab to take you to the beach? I know RC has excursions, but if it's easy to grab a cab and also get one back to the port, that might be less expensive?

Also, what other close activities do you recommend in Bermuda?

Can u rent the scooters to get around?

Our cruise is 10/3, wondering if it's still warm there?

The Lib of the Seas- any thoughts of your experience would be greatly appreciated. Our stateroom is Deck2-2562 which is mid. Can't understand why an oceanview room has the window at the head of the bed?? You would need to lay on your stomach and left your head, like an exercise to look out of the window??

Thanks

Chris

Thanks

Chris

Cabs are pricey...much easier to use their bus system. You will have to be mindful, though, that Bermuda does not permit wet swimsuits on their buses.

You will be out at the Dockyard so easy enough to take a bus from there over to the south shore beaches (Horseshoe Bay is over there!) or you can take the ferry to Hamilton and then grab a bus there.

When we went to Bermuda a couple years ago it was May and the water too chilly for us to swim, but we did stop and walk along Horseshoe. We also went to Tobacco Bay Beach, a smaller beach out near St. George.

I would not recommend scooters unless you are already a VERY experienced scooter/bike driver. The roads are very narrow and traffic can be very unnerving for an inexperienced driver. Remember, they drive on the left, too...another thing a lot of people are not used to.

Lots to do in Bermuda, its one of my favorite places to visit!!

I agree with using the public transportation. We were there in May on Norwegian Cruise Line's Breakaway. We bought a 3-day transportation pass which was good for unlimited rides on the ferries and buses. Of course it takes some time using public transportation, but we loved it. The bus drivers were so helpful. They would tell us when we reached our stop. We didn't swim in May but there were a lot of people in the water.

Thanks, that's great info.

Where do u get the passes... do they have a two day pass?

Thanks again.

Chris

Thanks for the great info, the link you sent was fantastic and covered Bermuda in Oct with everyone agreeing it's a great time in Oct. Water is still warm, the air is warm , but not humid...

Thanks again.

Sometimes rooms have funky orientations. That said, I can't find that Liberty of the Seas has that orientation; I see images online of Voyager and another ship (not in Freedom class), but those aren't Freedom class. Not saying it's not like that, just saying I don't see it. Our very first cruise was on Radiance, in an oceanview with that orientation. We were all the way forward where the ship slants back from the bow, so we had a little shelf that I could sit on to look out...but if you don't have that, I assume you'll have to sit up on the bed to spend time looking out.

We went in April last year for Easter on Explorer. Buses are an "experience". We used the Ferry and buses. Went to Crystal Caverns. Well worth the trip. Right next to it is the Swizzle Inn. Great spot for a bite and drink. The bus stops right there. Next day took the bus to Horseshoe Bay to swim. Incredible beach! If you ask the bus drivers to drop you off at "Glass Beach" they will. A short walk, kind of a let down. Really didn't live up to the hype. Getting in and out of Port Bayonne was fairly easy.

When you get off the ship and go through the gates into the port area, there will be a little kiosk where you can buy your tickets. They sell 1 2 and 3 days. You can also pay cash in exact change (coins). Ticket books are not available at the Dockyard. It's easiest to just buy the day pass and get unlimited rides on buses and ferries.

I wouldn't book an excursion unless there is something in particular that you see that interests you. Most things can be easily done using public buses and ferries. I recommend doing your long excursions on the first day, so you don't have to worry about the ship leaving. If you are being cautious, explore the immediate Dockyard area the next day or just take the bus to the beach and back.

If you don't like to swim when it's chilly, you can walk the trails that run along South Shore Drive/beach area from Warwick Long to Horseshoe Bay. It's very scenic and great for picture taking.
