Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

Where would you change too? Back to another value or upgrade and pay more out of pocket. I'm just curious because sometimes I see one of the other values with a higher room cost. I don't understand it but I like PoP because they have their own bus, close to AoA and that gives two food courts for the price of one, three nice pools. For me it gives me the best bang for my bucks.
As I said I would switch to an AS resort. They usually only share buses at slower times and at that point I won't care. We would then at least have a table in the room (which you lose when you have to pull down the murphy bed) and neither of us would have to sleep on a murphy bed

Sorry I didnt see you mention going to an AS resort. Just wondering, have you slept on a murphy bed before? Are they uncomfortable?

Is anyone else not crazy about the new room design? It has made me hesitant to stay there if we go again (and we had a great stay there a few weeks ago!)

It also makes me wonder if the prices will go up as well.

Based on the pictures: NO I do not like the new plan, it looks like a hospital room not a hotel room. I don't know that I will go back if all the rooms are like that ... and I've stayed about 20 times at POP, it's been my favorite value.

I am not a fan. A friend and I are going in September and are booked at POP and I don't think either one of us should have to sleep on a smaller murphy bed while the other gets a nice queen size. I'm waiting to see if the rooms actually come out like that and if they do I'll be switching to an AS resort.

THIS. Not sure why everyone assumes that the rooms are just for parents/kids. PLENTY of all adult groups travel to Disney and stay in values. Bed vs Murphy, Queen vs Full. What to do? Draw straws?

Yes, I agree. We have a trip planned for this summer and I'm really hoping we have one of the regular old rooms. I'm not sure how I feel about the murphy bed (if you didn't use it and could just save the space that'd be one thing, but we'll need it so it'll always be down and I'm not sure about the comfort. I'm also not a fan of the sterile look (I love CR, which many complain of being sterile, but these just look kinda hospitalish). I'm also a little concerned about the way the space is going to work now...we'll have a stroller and a pack n play, so I'm hoping it all fits.

Agree.

I would rather we both have full beds. I don't think POP should be changing ALL the rooms to this set up. I think they shoulf have considered all situations and kept some of the rooms with the 2 full beds for those who preferred that set up. Again we will see and yes we will change our reservation if POP switches all rooms to a Murphy bed and queen set up

I am hoping this is for some of the rooms, not all, so they can offer a variety of options. Make it a bookable category. It has a demographic but it's not functional for all.

I'll be switching too. What I do hope is a brand new style that seems to appeal to families will draw out from AoA LM rooms and they will finally be getting discounts.

Think it works fine for a single or couple or just parents and just pack n' play but ........... not sure I get all those who say parents get a queen and kids a full. My DS goes to sleep much earlier than I do, while I sit at table on computer. Now with this he gets the queen bed while I would be getting the full fold down.... For many, like us, we don't need any more floor space, we don't use our floor other than to walk to other parts of the room. So this is not in any way a perk for us.

The only thing I'm really not happy about the renovations is them basically taking away the table when you use the bed. How is that even a good idea? :sad2:
I think this is due to not enough size for two beds and a pack and play. I think they are assuming this will open up more room, but yes, it is taking away the table and chairs for those who do not have children. It would be nice if they gave the option of a fold down table that can be used when the murphy bed is up. The chairs could be fold ups that you can hang in the closet like the ironing board. I know this is a lot of work, but it gives the room more space and would fit a lot of needs.

I would be okay with this.

I actually like the new design. The new design is rather smart as it will allow you to up up the murphy bed when not in use and really open up the room. If you are parents traveling with children that sleep in a play pen it will allow more space for that instead of blocking all the walking space. I think its a brilliant way to go to be honest.

I really like what I saw in the pictures. Love the lack of carpet (but I do hope there will be a couple throw rugs), the murphy bed seems smart to open up the space, and who wouldn't love having a coffee maker?

I agree. A bigger bed, open area if its only two people and no king available.

That's awful! I'd be so stressed out!
We always like to be back at resort 30-45 min before DME pick up. Get my carry on from Bell Service and we usually change to long pants for flight home. Will also grab some snacks at food court for flight home.
We do the same, around 45 min. We like to visit during the hot weather so we need a few minutes to go out to the showers beside the pool and get washed up and changed into fresh clothes. Then grab a last Mickey snack. When this happened after about the first 5 minutes we were looking at each other doing the 'what's the hold up' thing. A few more minutes passed and another CM asked if we had been helped which we said yes. Then another 5 minutes pass and we try to get the attention of the second CM and when we got him he said something about wondering why we had been standing there so long. He then goes off in search of our bags and takes about 5 more minutes. Then came out with the our bags and says 'are these by chance the ones you want?' OMG, what if they weren't? Fortunately, we allow an hour to get from the park back to the resort so we had tons of time but by the time we got our bags, changed clothes, grabbed a snack and got back to the DME stop we had about 10 minutes left until the 15 minutes before pick up time.:faint:

Note to self, photograph claim tags so you have a copy in case they go MIA
I do that with many things but didn't think of the claim tickets.....but I will next month. We are on the same flight home, so the plan is the same. MK all day and then back to POP around 4pm to change and get on the DME.

That is just so bizarre that they just disappeared like that. How very odd (and stressful).

What does that have to do with anything? Maybe the person who managed to draw the queen bed wants to use the table to eat something they brought back from the food court but can't because now the other wants to sleep on the murphy bed that's folded down onto the only table in the room. Or what we can't agree on who gets the luxury of the queen bed over the murphy bed. I just don't the the murphy/queen setup is a convient one for all people and I think there should be an option. I booked the room before the refurbishments were announcement based on the layout that is available now, if it changes I will change resorts to something suited to my liking.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you? I was asking if you have slept in a murphy bed before and found them uncomfortable, because I haven't. I was looking forward to sleeping in one, but if they are uncomfortable. I might not be looking forward to it as much. I'm sure the refurb will take a while. It's not like they are just swapping out the mattresses like the last one. They are pulling up carpet and putting down new flooring. I can understand your concern about the table. If you had read my other posts I also gave other suggestions to the table concerns that people have. Again sorry if I have upset you, that was not my intention.

I'm still trying to decide if I like the new rooms. Going with a friend but we always get seperate rooms. If it's just me in the room I'm ok with new room. If one of my daughters decides to come, then she gets Murphy bed, and possible loss of table use. If I'm having a breakfast in the room, I just don't want to eat in bed. I prefer having a table. Anything more than 2 people in the value rooms are way to squishy for me.

I would upgrade to a moderate and not stay at POP. The Argentinian tour groups are taking over POP and Art of Animation. I'm here now. We leave today, and I've never been happy about the Tragical Express.....but I am today. Will never book at a value again. Vacation was not magical.

I can understand this. I think it happens at all values, it is mainly finding a time that they are in school and not off.

Does anybody know if the trail around the lake goes all the way around and how far it is. I'm going to be training for a half marathon and wanted to know so I can still keep running while on vacation in sept.
