This really isn't a big deal. I'm just bored now, and with me always thinking about my first upcoming trip to WDW in June, I think of the little things. I see that the chest of drawers in most of the rooms at All Star Sports (if not all) only have three drawers in them. With there being four of us, I always like each of us to have our own drawer when we go on vacation. I'm sure my DH won't care and he'll just hang most of his clothes or keep them folded in his suitcase. With all the videos on Youtube I've seen of the Disney resorts, I see that all the values and most moderates (maybe some deluxe too?) are the same with three drawers. Does that bother any of you? And how do you work around it?

Use the little shelves on the side of the unit. Or the top. One person always seems like to like to leave their clothes mostly packed, so it has never been a problem.

Doesn't bother me. Does the nightstand have a drawer you can use? I can't remember. Usually one of us (typically me because I'm lazy) leaves all our stuff in the luggage and just takes it out day by day. Sometimes I put it on the shelf in the closet.

I don't usually do a Value and couldn't survive with 4 in a Value room for 2 weeks, so i have had enough room to unpack. I have been following your many threads and I ask " have you considered a different resort - a Mod or a Deluxe" . I think having more to do on " downtime" at your resort might help your DH with the length of your vacation.

I thought about a mod or deluxe, but we're kind of frugal with money, my DH more so. What it really comes down to is what my two DD's (who will be 11 and 7 by the time we go) are happy with. They've seen videos of the value resorts and are REALLY excited to stay at All Star Sports. My reasoning is that since they're still so young and are happy with the value, what's the point of spending hundreds more (it would add at least $1500 if we upgraded to a moderate) to upgrade? I'm thinking by the time we go to WDW again (my guess would be at least two or three years from now) my girls will be older and they'd enjoy a moderate or deluxe more. ETA-when I say my DH is frugal, he's ALL about what's the cheapest. I told him about the Port Orleans resorts and the bike rentals, and he says "I can ride my bike at home." :rotfl2:

I certainly would NEVER try to suggest how you spend your money. :cool1:
For us the Double Beds would be a no go, especially for 2 weeks.
And "listening" to your DH's concerns, it just seems that a resort with more amenities might have been better
Good Luck

The point is making the *adults* happy. Yes it'll be more. But if drawers and not being able to unpack everyone is going to bug you...why not go up a bit in the world of disney?

I don't want to rent a bike at Disney, either, but I'm not going to not stay at PO just b/c they have that possibility. Maybe he would like them, but without the thought of spending *more* money to get a bike?

That said, if they have the hanging rod off the vanity area, just get some of those velcro-attached hanging drawer units you can get at Ikea or wherever. Vertical storage space!

Your trip is really 2 weeks long and you're staying at a value with 4 people? Better person than I am. I couldn't do it even with just me and my son. Let alone with hubby and another kid.

They've seen videos of the value resorts and are REALLY excited to stay at All Star Sports.

What videos have they seen? Videos of the rooms or videos of the grounds? Because it's super-fun to walk around those bright shiny resorts, but if you're at the parks during the day and sleeping at night, at some point it becomes a matter of "why are we staying here?" The big figures are fun, the big pool is nice. It's exciting. But the room might not really suit your needs, and that's worth way more than the ability to walk around and see big figures. Because you can walk around and see big figures even without staying there. We toured around AOA without staying there, we've toured all around all sorts of resorts without staying there. Can't swim but oh well.

No matter where we vacation, if there aren't enough drawers for each of us to have one, we just share. It's not like we pack so much the storage is stuffed full. The only time we didn't have enough storage space was on an 8 night cruise.

I never put my clothes in the drawers at hotels. Phobia thing I guess. I don't want clothes I am putting on to have been in drawers where who knows what was. I do pack hangers, will hang as much as I can filling closet, arrange suitcases to live out of and then we put our dirty clothes in the drawers. At the end any clean are combined and all the dirty put in suitcases together.

Ditto! Thats where we stash our dirty clothes, so it doesn't matter if we each have our own drawer.

I totally agree, he's just not willing to spend the extra money. Personally, when it comes down to it, I really don't care where we stay.

Well up until now, I had assumed that people put their clean clothes in the drawers, so using them never bothered me. Now I know that people who are worried about what "other" people put in the drawers, put their own dirty clothing in there. :crazy2: Not very courteous!
Does anyone else see the irony here?

Yes. Now I am skeeved out.

Ever since checking into the Four Seasons in Maui and finding 2 drawers filled with damp, smelly and obviously dirty clothes from the previous guests 12 years ago, we no longer put anything in our resort room drawers. We keep our clothes in our suitcases or hung up and we bring a pop up hamper for our dirty clothes.

Yup, exactly why I won't put clean clothes in the drawers. Those drawers are never cleaned by housekeeping - anywhere. We would often find things in them, some people even store food or shoes in them. We noticed on several trips elsewhere - no dressers at all. Closet only. Makes sense.

Now I will say I fold my dirty clothes and stack them neatly and if something is wet etc, I put in a plastic bag and on the shelf, never in furniture. Hey all you have to do is look in some rooms, especially the tour groups (who I have seen leave pizza with no box right on the bed sheets) to know that I don't want to put any clean things in public spaces other than the closet hanging.

But seriously we are sleeping in beds that thousands of other people have slept in ... the skeevy of all skeevy. :crazy2:

OK I am more than just a little grossed out. I think I will be taking along one of those hanging shelf units with me next trip. I like to unpack and I usually put our dirty clothes into a plastic bag inside one of our suitcases or in a hamper. This thread has me completely rethinking drawer usage at Disney or anywhere else for that matter.

I pack my socks in one zip top bag, unders in another, bathing suit in yet another. I put the bags in teh drawers and hang everything else up.

WHen my DGD was young all of her outfits were packed in a zip top bag. Those bags were in the drawers.
