Thanks to the DisBoards, I have discovered wonderful food places and treats I had not known about previously. Some of the fantastic things I have learned from other DISers is Boma dinner buffet, the Ohana Twilight Feast (via room service), Sweet Cream Cheese Pretzels, School Bread, Citrus Swirls, and Cheeseburger Egg Rolls.

We are going to WDW next August. It will be nine years since our last visit so I am sure there are more wonderful secret restaurants, kiosks, meals, or treats you enjoy which many of us may be unaware.

Please share your experiences and suggestions.

Thanks!!
Jody

One of my favorites for lunch, which isnt super popular and I dont see mentioned a lot is The Plaza. One of the only TS meals I have at WDW that I dont leave there feeling disgustingly full! Its a light meal and amazing ice cream desserts which are always welcome on those hot days. I leave The Plaza ready to tackle another 10 miles of walking around!

Liberty Tree Tavern lunch leaves me with the opposite feeling. While I love the restaurant, Im ready for a nap after I eat!

We stayed at CBR on our last trip and ate at OPR almost every morning. The biscuit and gravy side at breakfast was the perfect size for my breakfast and was under $5, plus it was really tasty!

Not a restaurant, but just an idea. Be sure to bring ziplocks of various sizes (but not to AYCTE places). That way if you have leftovers, you can always take them with you to snack on later. Just be careful with temperatures. During warmer times, we carry our insulated bag as a purse with those cool packs. All the non food stuff is kept in other water proof bags to keep from getting condensation or food on,

The Cobb salad at Hollywood Brown Derby. It's inexpensive and delicious.

You want something different, unique and yummy? Here is my tip that I found on my last trip. Disney Springs has a "Poutine" place. They make 4-5 different types of Poutine, all of them FANTASTIC.
Poutine is a Canadian phenom. Original is thick cut french fries with cheese curds and brown gravy. They have various versions of it, with different toppings. Make sure to try the "Latin" version. Yuca, pulled pork, black beans and cheese sauce topping. Huge portions.
It is around the corner from the big Disney store. It is (relatively) cheap and VERY filling. Of course you can feel your arteries harden as you eat it, but what is an extra pound or two for good taste? :)

I know it isn't unique or hidden, but I liked the carved turkey sandwich at BOG. Even though it is a QS lunch, you still need a reservation.
We liked the San Angel Cantina as a QS in Epcot.
1900 Park Fair was a favorite. We plan to return.
Cape May was a good breakfast.

My 'secret' food tip is to eat like you're at home!!

We usually have cereal/bagel and fruit for breakfast, a sandwich/wrap/salad for lunch and a proper meal in the evening with occasional snacks between meals if we're hungry - so that's what we do when we vacation!

My boys are super-early risers (I am not!!) so I have breakfast ready for them in the hotel room, we share a QS sandwich (2 orders for 4 of us) and if we're hungry after then we buy fruit/snacks to eat on-the-go, then we have TS in the evening - usually just an entree, occasionally we share a appetizer if something really appeals, rarely a dessert.....exactly the same as at home.

On our last 10 day trip we spent less than $900 for 4 !

Wolfgang Puck Marketplace for a quick service meal if you are on the dining plan (and perhaps if you aren't though the value isn't as good out of pocket). Good quality (better than some table service places), large servings and lots of options. We also really enjoyed Raglan Road on our last trip - not sure I'd go out of my way to Disney Springs just for the food but if you are there anyway both of these are definitely worth doing.

We really enjoy Chefs de France in Epcot but I prefer lunch to dinner -- I found lunch wasn't as crowded/loud so the overall experience was more relaxing.

If anyone likes bratwurst then you might want to try Sommerfest in Epcot for a quick service meal.

The breakfast at Captain's Grille is one of the better breakfasts on property, although we usually don't have table service breakfasts since we find early morning the best time for visiting the parks.

We really like Raglan Road too. DH loves the mixed grill because it's the closest thing to 'real' English sausages that's he gets since we moved to Canada 5 years ago....pretty sure that's why he agrees to Disney trips every time I suggest one!! Lol

If you aren't in a hurry on an EP morning, go to Les Halles in the France pavilion for croissants, baguettes, delicious coffee, sandwiches or even a salad nicoise (yes, my DS9 eats this for breakfast there!). We are usually the ONLY people there for breakfast in the morning and it is so delicious and relaxing.

Spice Road Table in EP. BEST TS in EP IMHO. Try the hummus and the lamb sliders.

Not really a food recommendation, but . . . get a Landry's Select Card. It's $25 and that $25 goes toward your bill (you also get a $25 credit for your "birthday" month - which can be any month, like August :)

Ample Hills ice cream on the Boardwalk - so good!

If you like sushi - go to Kimono's at the Swan.
