White tents/cabanas at Magic Kingdom?

8 person private room with snacks and drinks inside MK.

Whether the price is fair or not is a different debate. I could see the usefulness of this during a downpour, or intense summer sun.

Does anyone know if it's air conditioned? It almost would have to be, right? Because while a cabana at the water park doesn't have to be - sitting in a tent with summer sun / downpours outside would still leave you feeling damp and miserable.

Yes, I understand it's MK. I meant guest staying in Epcot resorts like Yacht & Beach Club but they will rent the cabanas on their "MK day". Can't imagine people staying at 4 Seasons or other luxury hotels in the Orlando area who want to spend a day at MK would have as much of a problem renting these cabanas. Since that is the crowd these are geared towards, I'm kinda surprised they aren't nicer with more amenities.
Ah I see. Sorry for misunderstanding.

Even if they looked stupendous this would be a rotten idea. The current Disney suits are doing a bang-up job of selling me on a Universal vacation.

OK - there's plenty of things to complain about at Disney - but this to me is a complete "who cares". It's like hiring a VIP tour guide. Sure - those people paying $1500-3000 a day for a guide are jumping ahead of me in line - but there's like 20 of them in the entire park. It has nearly zero effect on my vacation.

People renting these tents are going to likely spend more time in their tent and less time wandering around the park, making the park fractionally less crowded and the lines fractionally less long. Other than that they have zero effect on my vacation. So even though I don't think much of the idea - I could care less about it. It's the same as the $50 dessert parties which TONS of people do but I think are the biggest rip-off. To each his own, but in the end they have next to no affect on my vacation. I'll save my ire for those type of things - which almost none of these extras do. (The hard ticket events are the only "extra" that to disrupts my vacation. When MK is closed to me for 4 of the 7 nights I am there unless I pay an extra $100 - THAT pisses me off. But apparently it doesn't bother the other tens of millions of people there, and it's not changing anytime soon.)

Okay, I cannot believe I'm about to rationalize this but...

If you have a large group of eight people and you'd considered doing a DHS dessert party for $60PP, for just $20 more per person, you could do the cabana with viewing for the parade AND fireworks, plus food and the place to hang all day long. As a whole, the total cost seems ridiculous, but when you break it down, it doesn't seem as far-fetched.

Personally, I tend to think $60PP for a dessert party is way too high in the first place. We did the Tomorrowland dessert party back when it was something like $28/$29PP, and that was totally reasonable (DD was an infant back then). The $79 (IIRC) for the World of Color dessert party? Even for a child? Ridiculous. My 4 y/o isn't eating or drinking anywhere near $79 worth of food....even if you want to say 1/2 of the price is for the reserved seating, she's still not eating or drinking $30 worth of desserts.

The dessert parties are things DH and I would be interested in, but Disney has way overpriced them. It's not a matter of being able to afford it or not (for us), it's just ridiculous pricing.

My main objection with this is that time and money went into planning something that benefits a very small number of Disney guests. That money could have gone into something that would increase a much higher number of guests satisfaction. I used this in the attractions and strategies board, but they could have put the money into something small like bringing Luxo Jr. back to do his little 'show' in the TSMM area. I'm pretty sure his battery died or something equally stupid and no one could get the budget for a new one.

Whenever he came out I saw many people stop to watch. Disney doesn't seem to be all about offering magical experiences to all guests, just for the guests who can pay.

But whatever, Disney parks can now make more money by offering an exclusive benefit to a small group of people. Good for you Disney...I guess? I know all the arguments about Disney being a business and needing to make money and I just don't care. Maybe I'm feeling especially bitter today.

Ah see, that I probably wouldn't use since the DVC and Chase Card member lounges are there.

The Chase lounge was a complete mess the one time I tried to go. Overcrowded with no open seats, the soda machines desperately needed refills and only had like two choices available after waiting in a 10 minute line. Every other time we walked by there was a line outside waiting to get in. So not worth it, and it's free.

I agree with whoever asked about air conditioners. There are going to be some heat stroke northerners out there! I know it's shaded but Florida heat and humidity travel into the shade!

These will be cheap to build and cheap to tear down - first to go when they have something that makes more money per square foot to go in its place.

$650 per day?

I believe getting value for my money. For that kind of money it would buy $650 of Shula's steaks and meals at the other higher grade restaurants on Disney property.

Just an opinion.... I am not necessarily right, no one else is necessarily wrong.....

These are not just ugly - they eat up limited Park property. If something like this is desired? EXPAND Park Property to allow for them.

Don't do this? The MK shrinks.

Again - Just an opinion.... I am not necessarily right, no one else is necessarily wrong.....

Space is space of course, but they do seem to be in a dead area anyway.

Well, I was just meaning that I have a choice between the two lounges so investing in one of these at Epcot probably wouldn't appeal to me, but who knows. I like to try everything at least once.
