Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH RESORT Information & Questions

YES!!!! We were in Martinique 25 water view and the odor was extremely strong. I couldn't determine if it was smoke or some other odd smell. They tried to tell me they'd send housekeeping to our room with air freshener but I declined and asked for a new room. Housekeeping manager agreed the room had a odor but told me it was mold/mildew and not smoke. Either way, it made for a rocky start to our trip. It was hard to give up our perfect room and location but our new room that we moved to in Jamaica was lovely.

We are in Martinique 26 right now and we have been getting on and off a strange smell. Not sure what it is, but we are here for 14 days, just a few more left and it is the perfect water view room so we just couldn't change rooms. When we got the room our first day we were crazy excited about the location, we have stayed at Saratoga Springs before with almost a 10 minute walk to the food court so being 1 minute away from food main pool and drink refills is worth it.
Before we opened the door my wife said something like I hope it's clean and I replied, with this location I don't care if there's a dead animal in here, I'm keeping the room!

we stayed at SSR last year, and yes had stunning grounds but with my wife being pregnant, made trekking to the food court etc a bit more of a chore, and so when booking CBR for next year, a preferred room was a MUST, as we probably used our resort mugs maybe once or twice due the distance to walk, it was june we went as well so very warm.

but cant wait to visit CBR next year.

Ah man, a little disappointment on my end. I decided that I would rearrange days to get my boys signed up for the pirate cruise. I swore I read somewhere that it ran Thursdays. So I actually found it quite easy to flip all my reservations and FPs from the Wednesday to the Thursday and vise versa (MK to resort day). Called Disney to book the boys in....cruise only runs Sunday TUESDAY and Friday. None of those days work for a flip. I know my boys won't be upset, but I thought it would be fun for them (okay maybe I was hoping one would let me take their place because I think it looks fun). Thankfully I did not cancel any of my initial reservations so just reflipped to my original schedule. The plus I am saving extra $$ AND I found FP and dinner reservations were still plentiful for my dates!!

We have a pirate room booked for our Oct 2016 trip,
I didn't realize they are the farthest away,
any suggestion on which building for in Trinidad South which would be best?
Never stayed at Caribbean Beach, so any tips would be great.
We are going with extended family about 20 of us, some are 1st time disney trippers too.

Thanks,

Kim
For what it's worth, we were in building 39 earlier this month. That is one of the farthest buildings. One afternoon, my husband and I decided to walk to go get a pizza from Old Port Royale and pick up our packages that had been delivered to the resort. I asked him to go ahead and time us to see just how long it took us to walk there from our door. Unfortunately, he didn't stop the timer and I didn't think it remind him so we don't have the exact time. I can tell you that we walked there, I went to order the pizza, he went to get the packages, and when we met up while waiting for them to finish our pizza, it was just under 15 minutes. So, while it is the farthest section from the main building, the walk really isn't that terrible.

I believe that they changed many of the AC/heating units from the rooms. There was a musty smell, but nothing I couldn't deal with.

It is so disappointing to hear all these comments about rooms in 25 and 26 having bad odors. We are arriving in 32 days :) and I am very much hoping to get one of the waterview rooms in those buildings. JungleCruiseFan I look forward to hearing how tolerable the smell is since you decided to keep the room. Wondering if I should pack wall plug ins to help with the smell. We will be staying for 12 days and I think a good room is important - however I am not going to let it ruin my trip

Just booked CBR for February 10-18, requesting Jamaica 42. DH and I stayed there on our first trip together in 2013, and we're coming back this winter for my 40th birthday. I. Cannot. Wait.
Thanks for all the work, dansdad.....I'm a Penguins fan :P

Its probably posted somewhere, but does anyone know when the movie/activity schedule gets released? Trip is not til september but I started looking around and I cant even find august yet. Does it not get released until the new month hits? I would assume by now they would be handing out the flyers for next month.

Hi All!
This will be my families first time staying at CBR. We've been to Disney, just didn't stay at a Disney resort. There will be 5 of us, 3 adults (me, DH, and step-daughter) and 2 girls 8 and 6. I know we will all want to swim, the kids will want play at the featured pool as well. What would you suggest is the best location to stay on the resort? I'm hoping I can request a certain location as long as it can fit 5. Thanks everyone for any advice you can provide :-)

What category of room did you book? Standard, water view, preferred?

We booked standard but I'm open to upgrading to preferred if it's worth it.

To get you closest to the main pool a preferred room would guarantee you to be closest- it would put you in Trinidad North or Martinique buildings 24, 25 or 26. You could also book water view and request Martinique or Trinidad North since they have waterview rooms in both of those villages. If you want to remain in a standard room, you can request Martinique building 22 or 23 which are the next closest buildings or Jamaica 45 or Aruba 51 which are just across the lake. They have a kids play area on the island that the kids may like to stop at on your way over to the main pool. Building 45 in Jamaica or Aruba 51 are the closest to the bridge to the island and the walking distance is about the same as if you were walking from building 22 in Martinique. Here is the map of the resort that may help give you a visual.

I have a question, friends. 11 days out, yeah! and about to do online check in. They want a departure time. So do I put in the departure from the hotel or from the airport. I think it's probably linked with ME , right? So we will be checking out by 11 but not departing for airport till 4. So what time do I put in? How do I convey those circumstances or don't I? Not sure this makes a bit of sense :/

I had these same questions last year.
They don't need to know what time your flight or when you are leaving from the airport.
They are really needing to know if you will be out prior to the 11am check out.
This is so they can let mousekeeping get started early if they can.
We always leave early and head to a park or to Disney Springs on our last day so we show 10am just in case we get a late start but still early enough for mousekeeping.
If you are using ME, they will know what time your flight is as long as you have registered your flights.

Funny, I just did my online check in and it didn't ask me that??? They entire on line check in was different today than it has been in the past. Have you been on the site today???

I remember in the past it asked for an arrival and departure time but now it shows:
  • Room Notification-email and cell # for text
  • Hotel account charges - credit card info
  • It does have and entry for "Your Resort Arrival" but it says "Disney's Magical Express Transportation" and it won't let me fill anything in????
  • Room location request
  • Hotel account PIN
  • Magicband order and reservation address
That is strange :confused3

We have our first stay at CBR coming up in less than 60 days. :D

Like so many before me, I want to request Jamaica 45 (or 46 or 44- we are not THAT picky).

What is the very best thing for me to do to request one of these particular buildings?

Complete online checkin (I know this is not a request on the checklist, so not sure what to check on the room request list)?

Call? Fax? (Does ANYONE fax anymore?) All of thee above?

Thank you for all the wonderful information regarding on line check in. I will go for it and hope for the best, now that I know it won't interfere with ME. We do have that set up. I am about to get on now so I don't know what I will find. Goin' in!
