Has anybody been on the...

Unfortunately that is a brand new itinerary including things that's are not even available in Disney yet like river of light show in animal kingdom. I think the first trip is in June? Sounds like a great trip though! I would love to stay at the poly someday.

Oh, the first trip is in June? I am sooo excited to see a trip report to see what's offered. :) And, yes the Poly is great! I haven't stayed there myself but heard it was great. :dancer: Can't wait!

We looked at it, but decided it was way too expensive. Of course, we live in central FL and much of what the itinerary includes are things we can easily do on our own.

We have no intention of doing this trip. We've done 90% of the backstage tours that are or have been offered at WDW which covers a lot of what this tour covers so we don't really see a point. Plus we can't justify the $4000+ per person price tag for a trip to Florida when I can spend that on a trip to Europe. I've got a trip to SE Asia coming up and airfare for 2 people round trip out of Toronto, Canada is going to cost less than what it would cost for 1 person to take this trip. I think we can find better ways to spend our money.

I totally can't see the value in this trip. If it was half the cost, I *might* consider it, but at $4500 - $4900 per person (more with the single supplement) it's just not worth it. It's only 6 nights, 7 days, and for the exact same price, I could do the Ireland trip or Alaska for example, which are 7 nights, 8 days.

I am happy that there are a few ABDs not on "my list" and this is one of them. Granted, if I didn't live in Florida, wasn't at the parks just about every month and had done most of the back stage tours, then this would probably be one added to "my list". The darned must do ABD list is already long enough as it is :faint:

That's expensive! Wowsers!

Looking at the itinerary, I notice that they don't provide a lot of time in the parks. Which is the main thing, no? I have never been to WDW. So I guess I'm better off going on my own rather than using ABD.
:thanks: for your replies!

I'm going to say no ;) Anybody can have time in the parks on their own and they wouldn't need to spend the money ABD trips cost to do so. The back stage experiences are wonderful and there are several that we have done multiple times. They give you an appreciation for the parks, what goes on behind the scenes and purpose that you simply cannot get no matter how many times you go to the parks. I've lost count of how many times we've been to the parks in WDW and even how many times we've done each backstage tour WDW offers. We did not "fall in love" with the WDW parks and resorts until we started doing back stage tours. I would suggest adding a few days on the front or back end of this ABD to explore the parks.

I am certain the back stage ABD offerings are not exactly like the ones that WDW is offering but there are enough similarities for me that I can't justify the price or the time I'd need to take off from work. However, that is mostly because we live in Florida and visit the parks 15-20 times a year o_O To be honest, if it was a 4 day trip for less money, I'd probably do it.

On the flip side, I've only been to Disneyland in California 4 times in my life and have never done any of their backstage offerings. The back stage magic ABD is definitely one we will be doing down the line. We were going to do it next year but the dates we would have wanted weren't available to book so we are doing ABD Italy instead. Hope this helps :flower3:

Wow! Thanks! :)
BTW, I didn't know that you could do the backstage stuff at WDW OYO. Now I definitely can't justify the price. I am not really into anything non-parks related, as I can see they have the NASA thing and kayaking thing. Meh. I would rather go on my own trip and plan according to what I want. And it's probably cheaper, lol. I really would like to do the ABD Backstage magic for the DLR, someday as well.

Well the cool thing about ABD is they are often pretty flexible and if you didn't want to do the kayaking or NASA you could probably opt to stay and hang out at the parks I don't know how they are handling park admission for the trip but you could ask.

The backstage tours are on the WDW website but the website doesn't lend itself to finding information easily. All Ears dot net has a list with reviews of the backstage tours. Although I know that the ABD ones aren't exactly like the ones available to the public. They just aren't different enough for someone like me who has easy access to visiting WDW often and has done most behind the scenes tours.

There was one posted a couple days ago, but it got disappeared. I'm not sure why.

What??!! Darn, I wish I would have read it. I was in the midst of day by day trip reporting my own ABD experience and figured I'd read it after I got back.

Yes, weird that it was here, then not. I am like you. I really didn't see the need to pay ABD prices to do WDW, etc, but the trip report made it sound nice - early entry into MK. Time spent with Imagineers and the costuming and prop department. Multiple magic fast passes at each park. A chef's table at the Polynesian. And astronaut to be your guide at NASA. Etc, etc. So, still maybe more than I'd want to pay, but it did sound like you were getting experiences that would be difficult to get without ABD.

That's too bad it disappeared. I was mostly interested in seeing how different the back stage experiences were compared to what is already available at WDW. I've noticed that the descriptions in ABD itineraries don't often match the experience I pictured in my head. I was wondering if the descriptions only sounded like stuff I've done but then wound up being very different.

I wonder if the price is that much because of the hotel chosen? Isn't the Polynesian expensive? Hmm.
