A New Disney Park in the US

Just an outside observation here, but given the demand increase for all things Disney, the increasing population, increase in Americans vacationing within their own country, wouldn't it make sense to build another theme park in another part of the country. Full disclosure, I am a Canadian, but I am well aware that we do not have the population base to support such a park, but I would imagine if they opened another one in say Texas that there would be sufficient demand from people in the middle of the country and those who love all things Disney. Has anyone ever heard of any talk of something like this actually happening?

At one time there was a plan for a Disney's America theme park in Virginia until it was canceled. Otherwise it appears Disney is now focused on expanding overseas, especially in Asia where the population dwarfs that of the US. I feel two theme park resorts is plenty for North America.

I would love it if they built a park closer to the midwest. But I don't see it happening in my lifetime.

I live in San Antonio, TX and apparently there was once talk of building here. Not sure how true it is. It's centrally located and in the south, which would make sense for a park opened 365 days a year. Weather is similar to Orlando (hot and humid) with a lot less rain. The rumor is that SA was demanding too much from Disney and they backed out or something like that. I haven't heard the story in years.

Although I don't think it'll happen, I do think about what a resort in a 4-season climate would be like. DLP gets plenty cold, and I'd imagine the Asian parks do too. Those manage to stay open all year, right?

I believe that is true as it was in Walts authorized biography.

I'm still waiting for the Disney's America Park that was supposed to be located in Virginia....

Would LOVE this. How about Texas???!! Tons of disposable money here. Housing is cheap and salaries are high. Dallas would be perfect (cause I live here). lol Y'all would hate our weather though. :(

There must be a reason for this ? Do Americans travel overseas ?

I agree. I think one great way to reduce crowds at both parks would be to open a third domestic park. Other amusement park companies have multiple properties throught the US. I think somewherein the middle of the US would be perfect. But like other posters have mentioned, it would need be in a location with a fairly nice climate.

It could be done another way. To reduce rooms of hotels and make them luxury hotels and make it more expensive per a room increasing revpar.

But actually.... :rolleyes1

Disney really should build a new gate in Europe, like it was first planned for.

Yes, when EuroDisney was rebranded Disneyland Resort Paris, they were opening up for another European park location.

But that's a bit OT... Sorry guys. :offtopic::duck:
