Is Walt Disney World going to 100% security screenings at the parks?

I have a feeling that after the senseless shootings in Orlando this weekend they will go 100% for bag and no bag

My concern is access before the bag checks and metal detectors. There are hundreds of people waiting in security lines. What protects us there?

Nothing obvious. I know nothing about Disney's security plans other than what everyone has seen. I would hope that they have armed response personnel at key areas at the entrances and inside the parks. Anything else is just whistling past the graveyard, and wouldn't do anything against someone armed and determined. You have to stop an armed attack early by striking back to neutralize the threat. You can't allow the leisurely execution of sitting ducks.

We're here now and they were randomly selecting people to go through the extra security screening (metal detectors) at both Magic Kingdom and Epcot. However, we just left Animal Kingdom and when arrived it was 100% screening. They were sending everyone through and all of the security personnel were repetitively saying "It's 100% screening here, everyone needs to go through security."

I'm sure it's only a matter of time before it's at all the parks.

You know I am confused, adults cannot go into the park in costume but women can come in with birkas (sp) and only their eyes showing through the slits. HOW is this okay? And I am betting if they were asked to go through the metal detector it would be considered profiling. I think everyone should be scanned, detected and just about anything they can think of to try and screen out possible problems. I realize that this gives a false sense of security to many but SOMETHING is better than nothing.

Do what? Birkas are not costumes. Not sure why you are comparing the two
Besides, been in the parks a lot and can count on 1 hand, with fingers left over, how many birkas I've seen

You're not sure why she's comparing the two? Really? Political correctness is the downfall of this country. And I've seen more and more burkas in the park over the last few years.

Oh no you just gave me something new to worry about...and I thought I had all bases covered.

People have been saying this is a problem since they started the increased screenings at security, causing a bigger bottleneck. Been 10 pages talking about it here in this thread alone.

I would expect/ hope, there is lots of cameras/ undercover covering the areas beyond the park enterances, doing the same behind the scenes security as previously noted. Watching the guests, looking for body language, clothing, facial Id,s etc

AKK

I have no facts to back it up but I am of the belief that every square inch of Disney is under surveillance in one way or another at all times. About the only place I believe, hope at least, there are no cameras are in the bathroom stalls.

(Note, I've only read the first and this page.)

Universal has 100% screening now just to enter citywalk, it took them a few months when they started it back in December to get efficient at it, but now it's not too bad...

We noticed that when we were there in February. It was just a table set up on the walking path from our hotel, and we never had to wait long.

Really glad we go without bags. We get there on Thursday. I know there will still be waits for the metal detectors but that is faster than checking bags with 500 pockets in them.
I noticed the flags here are half staff too.

It's not Disney's call to fly the U.S. flag at half staff. It is the president's (and sometimes governors). I did hear that the president has authorized it for this attack.

I don't doubt there is good surveillance at Disney but I do believe there are a few gaps. Last year a cast member raped a woman at downtown Disney over by the cirque building.

We are scheduled to leave this sunday so I spoke to guest services yesterday about security, and they told me NO ONE was armed, not even the police on disney grounds...

And the truth is if what if someone gave up to line with suicide vest ? people are looking for guns and the obvious, but no one is really thinking outside of the box on this IMHO....

They can fly the flag as they like at their property. The President can order flags at half-staff for federal installations only, everywhere else it is voluntary.
