Canadian Buffoon's Disney With a Teen Vacation - 08/13 - The Wrap

crazy eyes and non-crazy eyes.... I can't get the photo to enlarge enough for me to get a close up on my crazy eyes! ;)

Wow, that is an amazing amount of money to raise for one school's fundraiser!

There's really not much one can say from an outsider's point of view about those kind of situations, although terribly enough nowadays so many people can have their own tidbit of history and experience to share when it comes to suicide and mental illnesses.

But I think it's beautiful to see how much everybody rallied for this young girl and for the cause. Especially so in the sense that I feel a lot of people nowadays have a sense of disillusion and lack of faith in the younger generations, because their lifestyle and interests and values are so different (or seem so different) from what they used to be. But then, look at what they can do!

This is our/this generation's plague, in a sense. But at least I feel like we'll keep fighting more and more for awareness, and your girls and their friends and their class did a tremendous job of that. So really, props to them is what it comes down to.

::yes:: I was quite literally... shocked.

So many of my readers have mentioned suicides
that they've had in their families or acquaintances.

But I think it's beautiful to see how much everybody rallied for this young girl and for the cause.

It was really something.
Incredible, actually.

You think that's it? Or part of it?
I find that very interesting.
And yes... look at what they can do!

This is our/this generation's plague, in a sense.

Agreed... unfortunately.

But at least I feel like we'll keep fighting more and more for awareness, and your girls and their friends and their class did a tremendous job of that. So really, props to them is what it comes down to.

::yes::

WOW! That is all. Okay, I guess I am not that short on words; that is an amazing success! That should be a big help to Molly's family.

Next round:
1. One last excursion before we leave.
What is it?

Volcano

2. What treat did we eat? (again)

Hmm. Tough one. Since you said we and again, I'm going with Shaved Ice. I was tempted to say the grasshopper shake but then I remembered Kay was the only one that had it.

3. Might as well keep the trend going...
How many beaches do we visit?

Two

4. Did you see it? Of course you did.
It was obvious. If you didn't, don't wine.
Just go back and look.
Bonus points if you saw it.

I know drinking and driving is a big no no. I believe drinking and flying is an even bigger no no. Therefore pass over that Maui wine. I'll sacrifice and drink it to keep everyone safe.

5. So you saw it. But did you see the other one?
More bonus points if you did.

Was it duck season while you were there? If it was, I heard the Donald's are very tasty.

6. What place do we re-visit for a sugary snack?

The only time I remember you specifically mention sugar was Krispy Kreme. So going with Krispy Kreme.

7. Who gets picked for TSA pre-check?

Ruby

8. Who gets patted down at security?

Pkondz

9. Our flight was not on time.
Early or late? How early or how late?

Not on time always signifies late to me. Hour late.

10. What do I unfortunately have to do
when we get home?

Work. That's the most unfortunate thing I can think of.

Just read about Molly. Its so sad that people think they're life is so bad, that they feel they must end it all. Usually not the one we would expect either. In the end, I'm glad things are working out for her and that so much money was raised to help her and her family.

I tried to get Lady H on here. The division she works for at her work place (my former work place) go out to schools teaching about the dangers of suicide and how to hopefully prevent it. Warning signs, how to get help and to help others. I'll see if I can get her on here to share some more.

That's a fantastic amount! I don't know enough about the Canadian Medical system as to whether or not they cover these sorts of medical issues, but I'm sure that the money raised will be well used by her family for her recovery.

It just blew me away... again.

Yeah. Especially at that age
when they have all their lives ahead of them.

I didn't know her myself, but both DDs did
and they were shocked to find out it was her.

She still has a very long and difficult road ahead of her,
but the money raised will certainly help.

I did know that about Heather.
I'd be thrilled if she popped in.

Our system covers a lot.
But it won't get the family a wheelchair van
to transport Molly to medical appointments.
It won't cover all the costs of Physio, etc.
Some things are covered, some aren't.

Noted.

Good news and bad news.
The good news is that all the points
are tabulated and the photos
are almost done.
So I'll be writing the next update soon.

The bad news is that I'm super busy
so I've fallen behind on your TRs/PTRs again.

<sigh>

I'll do my best.

Ugh. I know from experience that an acessible van is not cheap. And I didn't realize they didn't cover rehabilitative therapy either. Ugh. I hope that at least the 10K goes a bit of a way to help. And hopefully in the future they might be able to raise more. But how awesome that they were able to raise that much for the family!

They'll cover some, others not. It all depends... don't ask me on what.
Sometimes the doc says "That's covered." Sometimes he says it isn't.

I've been away for a while. quite a long while.
Sorry... feel bad about that.
Having missed about five updates, there is entirely too much to comment on properly.
And it'd be utterly pointless to even attempt answers in this stage in the contest, but as always
I've enjoyed reading along with your retelling of the family adventures.
Maybe I can get back to abusing you properly in the next update.

But enough of the frivolity.
for there are points in time where other things matter far more.
We encounter real life updates like the one you've related here and it reminds us all that
life is fragile and that each other is all that we have.
Those of us that are lucky enough to have an "each other' that is.

I've been touched by similar tragedies.
I've lost an in law to such hopelessness.
Our local high school lost an otherwise wonderful young woman through very similar circumstances.
I myself have stared deep into the chasm of that awful choice and honestly, nearly didn't not choose to stay.
If offered the chance to relive my youth, I doubt very seriously that I'd even consider it.

The things that haunt and terrify individuals are many and varied and in truth we each fight those epic battles in silence and at times utterly alone. We can reach out to others, but only if we know that it needs to be done and even then, we might not be heard and we may not even be enough to make a difference individually. Life is hard, plane and simple and for some it's harder then we'll even know. But the hope displayed in this story is inspiring.

I just wrote down a story
that others created.
And those others were kids.
They're the real great ones.
And it was quite the story.
I for one am not surprised that you were moved to tears by a piece of music.
This happens to me all... the... time... ("man-card" be damned)
Don't think I've ever seen a performance that my son was a part of that didn't result in such.
and usually there isn't the added emotional element or immense gravitas associated with the presentation.
Music just grabs hold of my sole and turns the dials in way that I can't control.

I was (and still am) truly humbled.
As am I.
congrats to the kids for having such huge hearts...
for the hard work they put forth...
and for the humanity they display.

We should all be so inspired.

I'm going to change my answer for question #6, about revisiting somewhere for a sugary snack. I'm thinking you stopped at Krispy Kreme again on the way to the airport. Maybe because the "HOT" light was on.
