** OPENING DAY PRICING 2017 Pt 2 May/September: Magic, Wonder, Dream, Fantasy **

Thanks you've given me something to think about. I'm assuming they change the clocks at midnight meaning the kids would lose an hour in the Edge or do they change it at 2am so confusing. We did the west bound Hawaii cruise. I loved gaining that hour. I think I would prefer the WBTA. I wish that cruise was out to look at.

I guarantee my kids did not lose an hour at their clubs. LOL! I think they came in at 3am (would have been 2am, but the time change) I would definitely prefer WB and could probably just take my youngest and go, but my other two are in productions and won't be able to miss rehearsals. Usually WB is less expensive as well, making it a win/win (gaining sleep and paying less) I don't want to end in NYC so i skipped all the TAs this year. I would have loved WB Hawaii, but I wanted the overnight in Maui. I am hoping they put Christian on the EBTA for 2017 because he is my favorite cruise director. I think he made the Hawaii cruises that much more fun. :)

No OBB on that EBTA? My TA insists that we got the OBB discount and I was quoted that exact price for 2A, 1C (9) in a 5C also. Hmmm...

Many cruise lines are now changing their clocks at noon, and people say it makes the adjustmemt much easier. I think I would prefer this.

Disney does not do this.

You should really check out the prices for MSC lines in Europe. They're sort of the Carnival equivalent in Europe (flashy ships, okay food, lots of families, a bit of a party atmosphere on the pool decks) and they have lots of kids sail free promotions so you can get amazing rates. We sailed a seven day Eastern Med with them in 2014 for $4500 Cdn for 2A2C and I'm booked on a seven day Baltic for Aug 2107 for just under $5000 Cdn in an extended balcony. (I think it was $3800 US before the conversion)! We were a bit worried about trying something new, but if you mainly want to travel for the ports its an amazing deal. The rooms were really nice (Maybe even a bit larger than DCL) the food was fine, service was good, the entertainment was pretty lame and the kids clubs were nowhere near as good as Disney but we saw six amazing ports in seven days for an amazing price and had a great holiday.

MSC tends to fly under the radar a bit since they mainly market to Europeans and many Americans don't like the feeling of being in the minority on a cruise ship. It did get a bit tedious to have to listen to every announcement five times (Italian, English, French, Spanish and German) and the my kids felt a little overwhelmed with all the different languages in the clubs but their prices are often half the price of the North American lines, which more than makes up for having to deal with five languages and a bit of culture shock!

I'm sailing MSC this summer for Eastern MED cruise...and yup, kids are Free. Will be my first time on MSC but we're Italian, so the language barrier and culture will work out just fine.

June 28 - Magic - 11 night Norwegian

5C 2A/2K 14,11 $6388/6388/2054/1977 Total $16,808 No ins/no transfer/no air/no OBB

Couple more quotes I got:

Fantasy 7-Night Eastern
August 12
2A/1C (age 14) Category 5E - $6085 with OBB
no ins/transfer

Fantasy 7-night Western
July 8
2A/1C (age 14) Category 5E - $7084 with OBB
No ins/transfer

14 night WBPC
2 adults Cat 11B
$3433 w/OBB
Base fare works out to be less than $100pp/night
This is the cruise I'm interested in...but need quote for 2A, 1C (8) in 11B! Any thoughts? Would a child be about half the cost of the "per adult" fare?

7-Night Western Caribbean - Fantasy
August 19th

2A/1C (age 14) - Category 5E - $5327.13 (with OBB)
Per person - $1915.20/$1915.20/$1115.10
No ins/transfers

Not as bad as I was thinking.
Probably because most schools in the South go back somewhere in the first couple weeks in August (but, hey, we get out in May...)
