Surfs Up 1 and 6 are the preferred buildings but the way it is laid out, doesn't always mean you are close to the main lobby/dining room at Sports.

I've gone that route before but now try for Touchdown.

There is a sidewalk to mcdonalds.
Once you wak it in the hot sun, it seems longer than it really is.

There are only 3 floors to all the buildings at Sports.
You do have less noise on the top floor in most cases.

I have booked the hc room at Sports before and it has the roll in shower.
shower seat and hand held shower head if needed.
The one thing i did not like about the set up is the water does flow towards the toilet area.
It will drain back to the shower drain but until it does, the floor can be slippery.

The hc room i had was one king bed.
Do not know if they have 2 Q beds for hc.

Thanks for the reply! My main reason for paying the few extra dollars for preferred was to possibly avoid the youth baseball teams that may (or may not) be staying at Sports during the competition thing going on at ESPN that long weekend (I checked the schedule). Last trip at Pop it was overrun with baseball teams.

The shower seat will be great for my daughter - we'll just make sure to have extra towels to dry the floor with.

The roll in shower room is listed as a king bed and a double bed.

How far is McDonald's?

It's been a while since I stayed here but, when I did I don't recall ever having to catch the bus for an early morning ADR. The busses do start running at 6:30am to the MK from here too don't they?

Yes.

First bus times vary a little from day to day,but they are "usually" between 6:30 AM and 7:00 AM.

Magic Kingdom buses do seem to be more likely to come before 6:30 AM than the other 3 parks.

Here are "first bus times" on one of my days at All-Star Sports during a trip(The 6:09 AM MK bus that day was very unusual-it's usually much closer to 6:30 AM).

In the August heat I would not push a wheelchair to McDonald's. I would guess it is at least a mile away. Good Luck.

McDonald's is a half mile from All-Star Sports. But I agree that walking to it is not appealing - I still have not taken advantage of walking over there in all my stays at Sports. It's close, but not close enough. Plus you have to wait to cross Buena Vista Drive.

If you have a standard room booked, the Touchdown section is very convenient to the food court.

We are also doing a mother/son trip for just 3 nights, arriving May 8th! I didn't end up putting in a request for a building but did request close to transportation, which is also the food area. Like the others said Touchdown seems to be pretty close to the main building.

Hoops is okay. They are all good locations but I think hoops and homerun are the farthest.

Just a few tidbits for Sportsters who haven't been in a while.

The arcade is now open 24/7.

The ketchup/mustard/mayo dispensers have been removed and replaced with "packets".(Can't really blame Disney for this-the dispensers could get really gross at times.)

There are now a foosball table and corn hole game to go with the ping pong tables at Surfboard Bay.

The Grand Slam Pool has "stepped up to the plate" and now has towels available at the pool.

Current pool hours are 10:00 AM-11:00 PM for Surfboard Bay and Noon-11:00 PM for Grand Slam.

I was at Surfboard Bay today and they also have pool towels there.

Also,in a rare occurrence,we shared a bus with Music for DHS park opening.
