Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

On behalf of a friend: Is the bus ride from AKL to/from MK lengthy? The family will be spending most of their time at MK, but like the idea of coming back to a hotel away from the bustle. A long commute might not work for them, since they need to come back mid-day for naps (little ones.)

This is my first post and my first trip to Disney World in about 15 years.
We are staying at the Wilderness Campground and are spending a Sunday at Epcot.
We'd like to take the monorail one way. Which will be best: morning or on our way back? We have a 7 year old.

We are going to try to get there for opening and I doubt we'll stay for all the fireworks. Definitely won't be there until close.

Thanks in advance!

So I have received conflicting advice to this question and though Id ask you all. We have a 7:50 ressie for Ohana and are staying at POR. I've been told by 2 separate CMs, one that we will need to take a taxi, and one that there is more than enough time to take transportation. Now I don't mind a taxi, but can we get there with part transportation in time? Thanks guys!

Well, it depends on what their definition of "lengthy" is. The drive time is about 20 minutes, but then there's also wait time.

what is the best/fastest way to get from Epcot to DS? thanks.

Walking's probably the fastest - I'm not sure what the exact boat route is, so I don't know when during the route it would stop at the Epcot resorts.

so you can walk from Epcot to Disney Springs?

Sorry, I could've sworn you wrote DHS, not DS. No, you can't walk from Epcot to DS, and in fact, there's no direct transportation between Epcot (or any other park for that matter) and DS. Other than taking a taxi or Uber (which would be the fastest), the only other way to get to DS from Epcot would be to walk to BC and take the bus from there.

Depends whether you're leaving from the front or the back of the park. If you leave out the front, take a bus to Saratoga Springs and get off at the Congress Park stop, then walk across the bridge to Disney Springs. If you're in the back of the park when you want to leave, exit through the International Gateway, walk to the Beach Club, and hop on a bus to Disney Springs from there.

If you want to be there for rope drop, then I wouldn't take the monorail in the morning. In the evening, exit the park and hop on the monorail. Once you get to the TTC, you'll have two choices; 1) you can transfer to the express monorail to the Magic Kingdom and catch a bus or boat back to Fort Wilderness, or 2) you can transfer to the resort monorail, exit at the Contemporary (the fourth stop), walk towards Bay Lake, and take the blue-flag boat back to Fort Wilderness.

Buses start running at or before 6:30AM, but they are infrequent. Take the bus to the Magic Kingdom. When you get on the bus, ask the driver how to get to the Polynesian. He might offer to drop you there after the Magic Kingdom stop. Otherwise, at Magic Kingdom, transfer to the resort monorail. I'm not sure how early the monorail starts running, so this might be tight.

What time does the monorail start running to Epcot from TTC? We are staying at the poly and need to get to Epcot for an 8am ADR breakfast at Askershus.

I'm not 100% sure, but it might not be running early enough to get there. You would have to be in it by about 7, then it would take 15+ mins to walk back to Akershus. If it were me, I think I would take a cab to the BC and walk in through the International Gateway. You could leave the Polynesian around 7:30ish.

Hi, we're planning a trip in September and want to spend the day at Typhoon Lagoon, then have dinner in Disney Springs. How can we get from Typhoon Lagoon to Disney Springs? Will we have to take a bus to a resort, or can we go straight there?

It depends.

Sometimes everyone leaving TL has to take a shuttle bus to DS, and connect there to a bus to their resort. If they're doing that when you're leaving, you're home free. There will be Transportation cm's at TL directing Guests when that's what's being done.

If they're not doing that, then buses will be going only to the resorts, and none directly to DS. But buses return to DS after they serve the resort. So the thing to do is take a bus to a nearby resort, and just stay on it until it goes back to DS. Saratoga Springs is probably the resort that will get you back to DS quickest. You could get off the SSR bus at the Congress Park station and walk to DS, but there's no reason to do that as DS is the next stop.

And be aware that everything could change by September.

Hi Joelkfla - if transportation doesn't change much, it sounds like we'd be OK either way :) Thank you for your response! I will keep watching but that is the only day of our trip that transportation isn't a no brainer and you made me feel a lot better about helping my big family navigate the WDW bus system that day! It's our arrival day so I would like to make it as smooth as possible :)

Can anyone confirm I'm getting conflicting answers. From the magic kingdom to animal kingdom park is there a direct bus. Or do I need to go to the ticket and transportation center ? Help

We're driving from Universal for an 8:20am breakfast at MK on a Tuesday in late May .

What time should we hit the TTC to get there in time, and how much drive time should we allow?? I'm also seeing some chatter about Monorail upgrades, and wondering if that will have much of an impact on us.

The first post on page 1 is helpful but could you add info about getting to and from Disney Springs from other parks and from other resorts. Also, while at it, how about getting to/from the waterparks.
