Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH RESORT Information & Questions

It sounds like you were given a free upgrade when you checked in. @dansdad did they change some of Trinidad North to standard?

It was water view, so not technically "standard", but also not "preferred", to my knowledge. It could have been an upgrade, but if so, they never informed us it was.

To be honest, if I booked "preferred" and got that specific building, I wouldn't be happy.

I wouldn't really blame you. Some of the buildings in Trinidad North are pretty far away from Old Port Royale.

I actually complained about this at check-in (was told that I was really close to a bus stop-um, super, so is basically every room, and it wasn't that close to the bus stop). I ended up emailing in after and complaining because a lot of Trinidad north is nowhere near as close as Martinique for the same price.

I arrive in 9 days (yay for me). I was checking my reservations on line and the only way to see my room request is to press the modify button. But that says I have no room requests and my arrival time is messed up. Though I did make request on line and over the phone. Should I be concerned?
Also, if I order through Amazon Pantry do I use the physical address or the USPS address?
Thanks folks!

I posted a separate thread but I was advised to ask here. I'm trying to decide whether or not to order from Garden Grocer or buy from the CBR shop as needed. I'm not from the U.S., so the Garden Grocer prices seem dear but maybe they're the norm. I've just narrowed it down to wanting to buy bagels, cream cheese, cereals and milk.

Thankyou for your help!

ETA: The question!
What I forgot to ask was - can anyone tell me what they cost in the CBR shop, please? It would be great if someone knew. Thankyou!

If I remember right, a half gallon of milk was $3.50.

Interesting. We're heading to CBR this September. My husband has never been to WDW, nor have the kids. I haven't been in 14 years! We have however been to DL three times since my last trip to WDW and to Tokyo DL twice. The husband is worried he's not going to like WDW with all the extra traveling to and from parks. We adore DL, although he prefers Tokyo over Anaheim if pressed. I just hope he doesn't get fed up with all the transport to and from the parks, especially after the loooooong journey over there. If he's not a fan, I doubt we'll make the 24+ hour flight over again.
The rides are not that long to any park. MK is the longest ride if I remember correctly, but I am so hyped up to go to WDW, the rides seem almost enjoyable.

Your memory isn't failing you...the ride to the parks isn't long at all. Hollywood Studios and Epcot are the shortest, followed by Animal Kingdom and then Magic Kingdom. I had to go back to the resort during our Hollywood Studios day to get my husband's meds. It took me 2 1/2 minutes!

Good to know. How long does it usually take to get to MK? Going by the Unofficial guide it could take over 30 mins - up to an hour from your room :sad1: We won't have a car. Certainly longer than the five minutes it took to get from the Grand Californian into the parks! I'm sure my husband will be fine since we'll be prepared. We head off on the Fantasy after WDW and then will go to DL for a few days on the way home so we'll still get our dose of Disneyland :)

It has never taken us an hour to get anywhere on Disney property from Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, not even with all of the construction going on near Disney Springs. However, when we took the bus from Disney Springs to Disney's Boardwalk, it was horrible! It took us almost two hours.

Hollywood Studios took 11 minutes from the time we sat down on the bus, made the loop around the resort and pulled into the Park. Epcot was ten minutes. Magic Kingdom was between 20 and 25 minutes and Animal Kingdom was about 15 minutes. Of course, it all depends on whether or not the drivers have to help load a wheelchair or ECV but that would be from any resort.

We stayed over a two week period and the rides did vary depending on traffic.

That's fantastic - thank you. I've stayed at ASMu, VWL and OKW before and figure CBR will be much like OKW in transportation times. I'll keep telling DH that it'll take us half an hour and he'll be pleasantly surprised ;) We'll have a stroller (in the afternoons at least) this time too - even though our youngest will be five. We don't know how jetlag will affect their stamina and/or mood and they've only been to DL so the size will be a whole new experience for them. Anyway, I'm slightly concerned about getting the stroller on and off the buses, but we'll hopefully only be using it in the afternoons.

Seven months today until we fly out :D

Hey everyone!

We recently returned from our annual trip to the happiest place on earth and had a fabulous time! Thanks to everyone on this board for all of their tips, insights and info!

We were there 1/19 - 1/29. We were originally assigned a room in Barbados. While on the way there, I saw the huge tents they put up in the parking lots to house some of the cheer events that usually take place towards the end of January. No thanks....(the girls are always very nice, but a little too peppy for me). We were allowed to move to Martinique, which turned out to be a wonderful room and location!

Never had any issues with busses. The longest we waited was 7 minutes. The electronic wait times boards were working at Martinique. The times displayed were current, sometimes changing to reflect a late bus.

Never had breakfast at OPR but we had lunch and dinner a few times and ordered a pizza to bring back to the room. I'm not a fan of ANY quick service at resorts or parks (Disney Springs and Tangerine Café excluded) so I will leave it at the meals were edible and that's all. We had dinner a few times at Shutter's and it was good. We have enjoyed dining there previously and again it didn't disappoint. Service at both OPR and Shutter's was fantastic. Everyone was friendly and willing to help at all times. We enjoyed talking with Bill, a 95 year old cast member, really nice guy!

Housekeeping was just OK. We usually drive but decided to fly this year. Therefore we relied more heavily on the things provided in the room. (Normally, we bring our own EVERYTHING). Our beds were always made and the trash disposed of, but other things I always had to check. It was little things, but the fact that it was little things EVERY day that frustrated me. Twice I had to call Housekeeping to receive items, one being toilet paper (we found out the hard way we had none!) Towels were left on the floor for multiple days, coffee but no supplies or supplies but no coffee. She would throw the soap away but not replace it. Or not replenish any toiletries. Again, I usually bring my own toiletries, hand soap, coffee, disposable coffee cups and supplies and even toilet paper (I'm weird...) so I usually don't pay attention to things like that being stocked everyday. But with us flying this year, I guess I just assumed these things would be provided on a consistent basis and we wouldn't have to pack them. It wasn't the worst.

Bell Services were very prompt and helpful. And Concierge Services at OPR were always able to answer my questions and help with any issues I had.

The resort is very beautiful and the grounds are immaculate. Its really a nice get away. You truly feel you are in there tropics.

This was our second time at CBR. We had plans to try every resort, but we were pulled back to this resort due to the fabulous vacation we had previously. It's going to be a hard decision next year deciding where to stay!

Thanks again to everyone, especially @dansdad & @mickeystoontown, you guys do a great job of answering questions and spreading the love of your favorite resort.

Oh my gosh you guys! I just booked our FIRST Disney vacation for September-staying at CBR! i'm soooo excited! My husband and I are both 34 years old and have each been once in our life, in the 80's. We both discovered this week from our parents that we had stayed in CBR way back then. It was where I was planning to book our first trip to take our children, and so now it seems like destiny, lol! Our boys are 4,6 and 8, and this is something I didn't think we would ever get to do with them so I feel like I'm dreaming! So excited!

When I made our reservations I didn't see anywhere to request a room or building, so I guess I'll call and add that. Any point in calling this soon? What would you request if you were me? (Standard room)

I am learning so much from reading-but it is a lot to take in-thanks for all the great insights!
