News Round Up 2016

I've got to say I'm not a big fan of the look of that Castle. But they're not building it for me. And it kind of gives the impression that a dozen different kings have added their own bits to the building, which does have historical precident...

True on the historical precedent. Its actually much more "realistic" to the European castles (including Neu Schwanstein) than the idealistic Land and World castles.

Which would make sense given that many East-Asian cultures are fascinated by European architecture.

Perhaps...but you have to think that it's a small
Number still.

Disney has "tolerated" the DVC renting to this point but they would tie it off quickly if it grows in popularity.

Do you really think they want people who paid $31 a point at old key west or Hilton head renting Disney's "$600" a night rooms at contemporary using points paid for long ago?

The pimp would be kicked off the corner fast in that scenario...

Count me in on this camp. I usually try to stay deluxe and wait for the discounted room offers. They seem to be few and far between lately. I've looked towards DVC but to be honest I haven't spent enough time to get a solid understanding of how this works. However it is clear that I can possibly get a better deal going that route.

My point being that I stay deluxe but haven't because of the cost. If it is pushing folks to DVC rental than I can certainly see them attempting to cut that off. The problem in my mind is if they continue to convert and the rentals dry up due to some unknown change in policy, how do you possibly go back?

Sorry for the delayed entry here but I'm a frequent but delinquent follower of this thread.

Thanks Reetz always enjoyable

Unknown at this point. Iger said they were a while back. I wouldn't see the new name being announced until closer to the completion of the re-imagining.

I wonder why this keeps getting brought up again with frequency?

I guess I just don't understand why anyone cares what the parks are called? Or maybe I'm misjudging it?

I think people are just hoping/excited for anything new and tangible at DHS. Right now it's pretty much a wait and see thing. I guess people think the name could be done quickly. It doesn't matter to me too much, unless they call it something really stupid like Igerland:rolleyes2 I just want to see the construction start and finish.

Honestly...they can call it park X for all
I care.

The era of labels and semantics at wdw is over for me. That's all it's been for the last 10 years.

Substance or bust. What does the name matter?

I have noticed that people often fixate on stuff like that. How many times have you seen someone say... "It will always be MGM to me!" as though it's a matter of great import. Kind of like how people worry so much about what the icon will be, a detail that changes nothing about your actual experience in the parks.

People make odd emotional connections to things.

Names are important to people. A good name can greatly contribute to something's success. A bad name can hurt it ( John Carter, anyone?)

My favorite thing about names is, in fiction, knowing someone's true name can give you power over them. Which again shows how important some people feel names are.
