Just curious: Do you mean that they may have taken more from 10k and 1/2 marthon and reserved it for the DD? Or did you mean they increased the overall size of 10k and 1/2 marathon to increase DD size?

The first - increased the number of DDD bibs at the "expense" of Half and 10K bibs.

My assumption is that they (runDisney or other organizer entities) that have calculations on the safe number of runners based on the course and distance so I doubt that runDisney would increase the total number of participants at this time. Heck, it gets crowded enough for we middle-of-the-pack runners through some of the Disneyland paths!

Just for comparison's sake ... at Marathon Weekend this year, there were roughly 11,000 10K finishers and 8500 or so of those were Dopeys.

Or have enough people said 'naw not this year'.. I'm personally tired of the weekend having run 4 of the last 5 and with the price increase easy to sit it out this year..

Wow - I was so worried about Dumbo filling up right away. I'm amazed it's still open after 4 hours. Now my worrying seems unfounded.

It does make you wonder- esp in light of all the bibs being suddenly available for PHM the last week.
We know some of them were fundraisers not able to make the needed $$, some were deferrals- but there has been a lot of them.
I would have bought from a TA but the extra fees on top of 4 race fees and the Active fees- were just TOO much.

Whoever suggested that they might have opened up more 10k spots for DDD, that makes sense given how quickly the 10k actually sold out - it was quicker than last year right?

The only way I can justify paying the DDD price is that this is the only year I'm doing it. (Well, unless I win the lottery or something.) ~$375 (incl Active fees) is a lot to swallow for this newbie!

Maybe? But best I can figure, there were only roughly 50 bibs available for DDD for early registration. I mean, they aren't discounted or anything so I don't see why they would do that.

But honestly, nothing they've done recently has made any sense to me.

Now that I am registered for the DDD, I have at least two opportunities coming up where I could potentially submit a better POT. One race is a 10K, my first race at this particular distance. Is there a calculator out there somewhere that is recommended to convert a 10k time to the appropriate half time? I have looked online and seen a couple, but would still like opinions.

In other news, I can't believe there are still bibs available on Active. If I could swing the travel days, I might be talked into adding the 5K.

I could've told you this would happen as soon as I paid extra for a TA bib!

Regardless, I have no regrets. It was refreshing to go through a registration day completely unstressed!

I'm in for the 10k! Very excited. Aladdin was my favorite character when I was young.

So ... he's the weird thing now - if you go through Active, it says that registration is completely closed for the event. But if you go via RunDisney, you can access the page. What's the point of using Active if people can't search there to find the race?

Wow, DD is open today, this is crazy. They must of hit the point it is too expensive. I am glad I got the 10k through TA, that still went really fast. I also wonder if people do not think it is worth paying all that money for the 1/2 Marathon and 1/2 is not in Disney. I know if I ever do a 1/2 marathon it will be at WDW so that way I will stay in Disney. Disneyland seems the perfect size for 5k and 10k.
