An idea for Canadians!

We do Air Miles. With the Mosiac Mastercard I get 1 for every $10 plus we do all our shopping at Safeway. Easily earn 500-600 a month at Safeway.

I would be very interested in this card but I just looked on the PC MasterCard website and under the "How to redeem your points heading" it just says

  • You can start redeeming once you’ve earned 20,000 PC points, which equals $20 in free groceries. Or redeem higher amounts in further increments of 10,000 PC points (which is equivalent to a further $10 in rewards).
  • Just present your President's Choice Financial MasterCard or bank card at the check-out at participating stores where President's Choice®products are sold and tell the cashier that you're redeeming your PC points.
Am I missing something? I would love to start collecting points and redeems them for prepaid gift cards but I don't want to apply for another card if they're only redeemable for groceries.

You can redeem them for anything they sell in store, excluding lottery tickets, cigarettes or alcohol :)

On wed of this week I just purchased 3 $200 prepaid MC and this weekend I will be calling and applying them to our Dining plan. So I guess that is sort of groceries. YumYum

I don't see the point of cashing in a gift card from your PC points. Are you getting extra PC points by doing this? I just use the points on free groceries. Use the money you saved on groceries to pay off your trip.

I agree. Just seems like a lot of extra steps for no reason.

Its out of sight out of mind.

It's 6 of one, half dozen of the other.

I used to do something like this when you could redeem AM for Shell GC's. I'd fill up using the GC, then take that cash I would have used for gas and put in my Disney fund.

But watch out for the fees to use prepaid VISA and Mastercard. I was going to get one for my nephew but the hidden fees to use them were outrageous in my mind. They don't make any money on interest rates so they get you with usage fees! Read the fine print

Exactly. I either have to budget accordingly and transfer money into a special savings account every week/month etc... and then buy tickets. Or, I do nothing at all for a year, and then one day buy a $1000 gift card with which I buy tickets. There's no extra steps at all.

What are the fees?

This is totally unconfirmed.....

My DD is a manager at Superstore(that I can confirm:rotfl:). Loblaw Co. owns Shoppers Drug Mart so there is a possibility that they will merge PC points and Optimum at some point this year into a new program.

If that happens I hope it's more like PC points.

I've been waiting for this to happen since a lot of the grocery items are PC.

now that's a good idea! We recently purchased a huge flat screen at our local Superstore with our points. We already have another almost 100$ accumulated and we were trying to figure what else to buy. Well Now we know where to put all our pc points toward LOL

Yes, do tell! I have all the Optimum points in all the land and my fiancé and I are going this year in September for our honeymoon. And after paying up the nose for a wedding a couple weeks prior - getting whatever kind of deal we can for WDW would be SPLENDID.

It could be nothing more than rumour. DD really doesn't know. She did say that the company is very quickly streamlining the appearance of Shoppers and Superstore health and beauty. The store she works in already looks exactly like a Shoppers and it seemed to happen over night. However, her store is the test store.

Usually we use the shoppers points for pretrip items ie sunblock, snacks, meds. Most of our points are on the TD Travel card which can be used any where.
