Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

I did both, but mentally I had already decided that it would be a chill day for me (I hadn't planned on leaving the resort, though I did end up popping over to MK for a late lunch in the end). I guess it all depends on how you prefer to spend your time at WDW - if your priority is to enjoy the parks to their full potential every day and make the most of that, then it is probably a bad idea, but if you are happy to have a resort day, then it might be for you.

Craziest thing I did that trip was attempt the "Avenge the Strip". I did Avengers Infinity Gauntlet challenge, and then straight after the half high tailed it to Santa Ana airport and flew to Vegas for the Rock n Roll half. Our plane got delayed so I ended up having to run over a mile to the start line just to get there in time! (arrived at 3:58pm at bib collection and the race started at 4pm! I started running still pinning on the bib). Almost everyone on the plane was wearing a runDisney shirt so I was in pretty good company. That kind of craziness wiped more than a day off my Vegas vacation, and I think I was more upset about that after my legs decided to go out in protest the next morning o_O That was definitely a one time thing!

My flight got delayed too! Were you flying out of SNA? I booked a hotel right by the start line but the cab ride over was stressful and expensive - the driver was rude and dropped me off in a slightly shady street where I booked it to the hotel.

Trying to talk my husband into it. The race is on our anniversary! But we are going for Dopey in 2017 and the registrations are only a few weeks apart so we will see. I would really like to go though. Fingers crossed.

Yup, SNA on SouthWest - sounds like we may have been on the same flight :) Almost every second passenger had a race shirt on from that morning and was talking about what distance thy were doing that night. People behind me were attending one of the run through weddings!

My sister is trying to convince me to do the 5K (I am not a runner at all lol, but did a 5K color run before and really enjoyed it so I figure a DISNEY 5k would be up my alley as well). We definitely plan on being there that weekend anyway, so if my husband decides to do it too, we are just going to take it easy that weekend (no parks). By any chance, does anyone know yet if the 5K is goin to be on the 4th or 5th?

Traditionally, it's been the morning of the Wine & Dine Half.

Anyone who has done it in the past, how crazy is the after party for crowds and what rides are open? I've only done Everest challenge with an after party and luckily I was in A so ride lines were short when I got done but crowds quickly filled in and it was only 5500ish people running. There's no way I'll be in A for Wine & Dine, probably a mid corral. Just wondering how long we might stay at the after party to do a few things (granted there's no rain/lightening/short course, etc.). Oh and were any characters out at the after party? hopefully we'll get registered that is. thanks!

My husband and I ran it this last November (we were in corral F). Despite being irritated about the lengthy wait at WWoS and the course being shortened, we had a pretty good time at the After Party but also decided we didn't get the full Food & Wine experience. There are a lot of characters out and even some that I had never seen in the parks before. Some of the food lines like Germany and Italy were long and then some had no one in them. We stayed until 4am and ended up being one of the last groups to ride Spaceship Earth for the night. We didn't go on any other rides because our time had already been cut short and we wanted to experience Food & Wine, but I'm fairly certain that most of the rides were open. I know at least Test Track and Soarin were. I would do it again before my husband would. We're probably going just for Food & Wine this year.

Thank you! It's nice to hear you had a good time, I've heard some horror stories about crowds and that it wasn't worth even going to. Spaceship Earth at 4:00am sounds awesome to me :) Thanks again!

Okay, I decided to give this one another shot. I've run it twice: 2014, during the monsoon, and 2015 with the heat and shortened course. I feel like I'm bad juju for this race, but I want another try, lol!

My husband decided he wanted to run this race again - we'll be going Nov 3rd to 9th!

But isn't it 3rd times a charm, so maybe you'll add luck to it this year :)

I'm right there with you. 2013 - got injured and ran the race with a foot strain (probably should have deferred). 2014 - got sick about 4 hours before the race, recovered, and then it monsooned. If my body and the weather cooperate this year I'll consider my W&D curse lifted. :)

There's still no way I'll make it happen this year, but the more I think about it, the more I know I need to go back for Wine and Dine. I hate the feeling of the race being incomplete for me, and need to try again.

Our dates too! For us, the cheese seminar the morning before the run is a perfect breakfast, highly recommended!

Last year was very anti-climatic (anti-climate?) but with even a short course, we feel less guilty about all the eating and drinking by throwing a run in!

For those that have done it the past what are rides are open during the afterparty? (I'm especially curious about Test Track, Soarin', and smaller future world rides like Nemo and Figment)

I know for a fact that Test Track and Soarin' were open in 2015. In fact, I'm pretty sure everything was open. There are A LOT of people in the park after the race, almost like a normal day at EPCOT.
