Hello all!

I have been lurking and researching this board for several years trying to decide if becoming a dvc member was right for our family. After just returning from a cruise on the Fantasy with a stop at WDW staying at the BWV for 5 nights, we decided to take the plunge and hopefully become part of the dvc family!

Just made an offer on BWV for 250 points. Offered $93 a point. UY December with 453 points in 2015 & 250 points 2016 & 2017. Paying closing costs & MF. Hopefully this is accepted and makes it through ROFR. Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone here that shares their wealth of experience and knowledge with us newbies :jester: Looking forward to many more exciting Disney vacations.:tink:

Hope your offer is accepted and the purchase goes smoothly! BWV has been our home for 18 years now, and it's still our favorite!

We made an offer too on a contract this week. Ours is going to take a bit longer because the sale is because of a divorce and has to get approval from both sides first. Pixie dust all around!pixiedust:

Good luck to you as well! Where are you buying? Is this your first contract or an ad on?

We already own at BWV (since 1998). We have done a bunch of add-ons, so I sympathize with your waiting game. I am just hoping that you will be moving to the neighborhood soon. :cheer2:

Thanks so much. We just got back from a 5 night stay at Boardwalk. Our first time in the villas so I have nothing to compare it to. Can you tell me if those have all been refurbished lately or are they still in the process. We really loved the location and all that the BW has to offer even though we didn't really have a chance to explore it much while trying to cram in all the parks & last night of Osborne lights.:P

Refurbishment is finished in most of the rooms. As you exit the elevators, the rooms that are straight ahead are finished. The rooms that are a sharp right turn from the elevators are still being done on floors 1, 2 and 3. Also some of the rooms on first floor across the breezeway are still not done. April was the projected completion date and I think they should make that target. So, by the time you close on your contract, BWV renovations should be done! BTW, I think you are getting a good contract with all of those banked points!

Thanks for that info. I never made it in the elevators, just stairs as we were on the lobby level. The 2 bdrm villa seemed fairly updated but again I have no point of reference. Can you tell me all that is included in the refurb? Also, we had a view of the waterway/Dolphin & Swan hotels, is that considered standard or preferred? Just getting my bearings for future visits. I assume that rooms facing the boardwalk area are the most desirable and costly point wise?

Sounds like you had a preferred view room. They are the same number of points as Boardwalk view rooms. Most, but not all, people would say that Boardwalk view is the best view. But many buy Boardwalk points to take advantage of the standard view rooms, which face the hotel entrance and the tennis courts. Those views are not too bad and those rooms require less points. In fact they are some of the "cheapest" DVC rooms so you can make your points go a long way.
When you left the lobby did you turn right or left to go down the hallway to your room? If you turned right then you were in a refurbished room. If you turned left then your room was not refurbished.

We were at the very end of hallway on the right side. I believe that would make it a finished room. No carpet anywhere and the new pullout/table bed. Thanks again so much for the info. Really hope our contract goes through quickly. Wouldn't mind going again soon and try out the boardwalk view rooms! Now if airfare from California wasn't such a killer.

We always book BW view. We love it. Wait until you try a 1 bedroom or larger. That's when you will REALLY experience what DVC is all about.

Feeling you on the airfare from CA. The highlight of my year so far was getting SFO-MCO roundtrip during Thanksgiving week for $350! The airfare also didn't stop us from placing our first offer last week! :yay: Hope everything goes quickly for you (and me)!

Actually we did get to feel that magic. Had a nice 2 bedroom villa with room for 9 plus kitchens on both side. Loved, loved, loved it!
