Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

What you read is true. From their research/surveys 89% of WDW guests use their phones as their alarm clock. They will be removing the clocks and installing a USB charging hub in those rooms that have not been refurbed recently.

We didn't have them at Bay Lake Tower but we did have at Boardwalk Villas in a remodeled room in October. Was told same thing when I called guest services at Bay Lake

These are the photos I posted from the YC lounge.

Congrats on the pixie dust! That is fantastic!

I really appreciate the pictures of the lounge. They are the first I have seen.

@focusondisney :

And also the pictures of the suite. AWESOME!!! Do you know the room number? I know that isn't as important when your room has a name, though...

I also like having the clock so I can tell time. My sister lives in California and she'll frequently forget about the time change and text me at 3 in the morning when she can't sleep. I shut my phone off all the time now at night.

Why don't you just silence your phone?

I know the pool area gets crowded there and it will be especially bad in August. Is it poor form to put stuff on a couple of chairs in the morning before we go to eat breakfast at the Captain's Grille? I really like a shady spot. We'll be spending that day by the pool. If it's not allowed we'll just eat really fast. :)

Yes, it is bad form (and against the rules) to do that. Unfortunately, some people do try to reserve chairs with personal belongs while they are not in the pool area and that is what creates the problem with availability.

When my group was there in August, Stormalong Bay opened at 9 am, so you couldn't even access the pool area until then. So if you eat breakfast before 9 and get there when the pool opens, you shouldn't have a problem finding the spot you want.

My super-secret "shady" suggestion (see what I did there) is to get a couple of the seats at the top of the stairs of the gazebo looking thing above Hurricane Hanna's. You aren't really close to pool, so if you are trying to watch kids it isn't the best place, but it is out of the way and covered and there is often an open lounger or two.

In 4-5 trips to the pool in the past two trips we were always able to find a couple of chairs (sometimes chairs, not loungers) both in the afternoon and the morning, although sometimes we had to walk over a couple of bridges to get there.

Here's a bit of info we have on the first page about the "Towel Game"

Do guests play "The Towel Game" at Stormalong Bay? How do I deal with "Chair Piggies?"

Guess who is coming in January to help me clean out house and get ready for the movers????? Of course we'll spend one evening at Magic Kingdom too!!

Here's a hint: She has two sons and I do not think she ever sleeps.

Sorry, I didn't see this earlier. I was sleeping. ;)

I don't really have a guess at who, but I'm betting that the when is Jan 8-11. Sunday Jan 10 sounds like an awesome day to hang around the Beach Club while someone is working/getting hugs.

:thumbsup2

Well that sounds like one of the best ideas ever. You'll get stuff done and have fun doing it!

What are you doing Friday night before you leave?

:goodvibes:

Requests for Info:

Can anyone who is at the resort now, or left recently confirm whether the regular YC bus stop is still closed and if the stop is at the convention center.

I have been playing around with the info on Page 1 about the YC and BCV refurbs.

2016 BCV guests have mentioned receiving letters about upcoming work. Could someone post one of those here, or email to me at beachclubdee at yahoo?

I haven't heard that any 2016 YC guests have received letters yet, but I would love a copy when someone gets one.

TIA!

The only person I can think of is someone who sleeps so deeply that nothing seems to wake her. ;)

The pool will only have a few resort guests at it during the morning hours. And there are a lot of shady areas, too. So you should be fine waiting until after you have had breakfast. :)

That is the weekend that we will be in WDW. The marathon will be running past the Boardwalk that morning. It will be an interesting day. :)

I though it odd that there was no clock, I thought that it broken and that they didn't get around to replacing it.
I usually shut my phone off too, so that all the notification dings (facebook, email...) don't wake me or my husband up.

Do you mean turn off completely or put on silent / do not disturb etc? A phone in silent mode still makes a whole lot of noise when the alarm is set, and airplane mode does the same thing as turning the phone off (i.e. Disconnects you from the outside world).

Info request

As an aside note, The concierge Itinerary planning Department did confirm that texting service for 4th FP+ was available at YC/BC CL. I made a note on the Concierge lounge thread but thought I would repeat it here for those wondering.

I'm not sure I have any info about this in the Club Level post for the resort.

Can you, or someone who has used the service, explain how it works. Do you text CL after you have used your 3rd FP and they give you choices? Or does it happen at another time?

Thanks!

When I left on Thursday, 12/17, the work was still going on in the turn-around area in front of the YC so the bus stop was still at the convention center. Per a cast member at the bus stop there they are not yet installing monitors at the BC/YC bus stops but they expect them to be installed before March 2016

I know, I know!!! It has to be that very special person who plans trips in her sleep!
DW and I are coming down for a quick weekend trip to sing at the Basilica in Orlando 01/29 - 02/01 with my church group. We will miss you by a day. We hope this move is everything you and your daughter hope it will be for the family. We really cherish getting to have known you over the past several years and hope to meet up with you again on a Disney cruise sometime in the near future.

Exactly. I put my phone on mute at night. I have an alarm app that plays audible music at set time. Lots of alarm apps have this override feature.
