Ok, I've now been dragged to BOG 4 different times by friends who "must" eat there on Disney trips. I honestly don't like the restaurant. The decor is pretty, but not enough to spend $40 on a meal. The food, IMO is just ok, there are much better restaurants at WDW. I've never had a great meal there, the food is mostly bland, and the restaurant so overlarge and overcrowded that the service is sub-par by default.

Am I seriously missing something here? Why the fuss? Is it the atmosphere, the food, the newness? :confused3

I wouldn't consider it as a TS restaurant for all the reasons you've said. For a CS I think it exceeds most options in the Magic Kingdom. I thought the Turkey Sandwich and Braised Pork were great. I like that you can order ahead. It's nice and cool with plenty of seating and it's efficient so you're not losing too much park time. If their lunch became a TS I doubt I would return with any consistency.

I think that it is a nice restaurant in a theme park. The Castle is pretty cool, and as an experience I think that it eally does meet most expectations. I think that as a CS option, it is a success. AS a TS option, well...that depends on what people actually thought it was going to be . This is a large theme park restaurant, so there is eally no way it is going to magically trun into fine dining. I think that some folks have made this restaurant a quest and in doing so they set expectations so high that they were doomed to be disappointed.

WE went to dinner there just as it opened and we thought that it was okay. We never felt the need to beat down doors to go back, although I will admit that I did try to get a dinne ADR for this next trip because I thought that my DDIl would enjoy it.

Breakfast was good. Dinner for me was okay. But lunch keeps me coming back. I love the roast beef sandwich and French onion soup. And I do love the atmosphere!

I've had lunch and dinner here a number of times and after the last dinner we all decided not to go back. The server was so rushed and spoke so fast that we forgot we wanted to order a salad. He never came back in time for us to order one either so we just skipped it Our meals were so over salted, and just not very good. I was tempted to try one of the pre-park breakfasts but the price is outrageous for what you get, and we pay out of pocket so we will skip that too.

To me it is a one and done. We ate lunch there the first year it opened. We were on the dining plan so it was a good use of a counter service but if I had to pay out of pocket I think it was quite expensive for a sandwich. Never ate dinner there as the menu doesn't appeal to me. It is a beautiful restaurant but I've seen it once and have no plans to return. I can't believe the prices they are charging for breakfast.

1) Yep.
2) You are pretty much on-the-mark.
3) We were underwhelmed by the items during the pre-opening "CM Tasting".
4) We are still not impressed with the food.
5) The environment was well-designed, but you are right (not worth $40) in our opinion.
.
6) As for newness factor, look at the Rush/Crush to eat at Skipper Canteen - and the menu hasn't even been announced.

I agree, not worth the fuss. I had lunch there before you could get reservations, just had to stand in line. For a QS without having to fight the bulls and sell your first born to get an ADR, it was o.k. but I've had better and certainly less expensive at WDW. We had a before park opening breakfast last May and again it was o.k. but my son said not worth getting up that early to get to. I'm not even real thrilled with the environment, it was loud and rushed both times we were there. We won't be be going back, I'd rather either eat at one of the hotels or the new menu at Pecos Bills.

I think BOG is one of those restaurants that either appeals to you or it doesn't. I find it difficult to let anyone else's reviews of any restaurant at WDW sway me one way or another because I like to try it for myself before passing judgement - thank goodness my hubby is the same way so it works well for our family.

I was a big fan of the Beauty and the Beast movie growing up so the atmosphere of the restaurant is incredible to me. I feel like I've been transported into the scenes of the movie from the moment I walk in. I'd eat there just because of that and nothing else, but we have had breakfast and lunch there and really liked both meals - pricey as they are.

The snow falling in the French Alps outside the windows of the ballroom is so cool. The West Wing is very dark and mysterious and the music box room is pretty too. I take it for what it's worth and love every moment of being in that atmosphere.

Our 1st dinner there in April 2013 was awesome. Everything was delicious and the service was great!!!

However, we saw a noticeable decline in quality and service when eating dinner there in August 2014. We won't be heading back anytime soon after that meal. :(

I feel the same way, I thought the food was horrible thank goodness they had wine to counteract that. Went there once and won't go back!

First, it's not for everyone!! We happen to 'love' eating there and enjoying the ambiance, 'but' we do lunch, which is lots less $$'s. To us, the braised pork and french onion soup (no tiny cupcakes, thanks) are delicious and worth the cs price. We have gone 4 times and have ressies for next trip! :goodvibes

I agree that people make a fuss over it because its new. Plus it gives people a different dining experience inside MK. I too dont understand the hype. I had lunch there, it was good....but I dont feel the need to rush back to it on my next trip. I'll probably skip it.

CS meals: exceed every option in the park, especially breakfast where a pastry basket is included.
Dinner service: Nice if you want a fancy meal but can't pay CRT prices.

I would personally never choose BoG dinner over CRT dinner, but I think BoG is great for families who want an "upscale" dining experience in the parks and don't have the money for CRT/don't like their food/don't want a character meal. However, I'd always choose BoG lunch/breakfast over any other CS in MK. While BoG isn't necessarily the best restaurant on property, I understand the hype. I get that fans have been waiting a long time to try the gray stuff and eat in the Beast's castle. I get that it's new and fun and employs all sorts of new technology. While the food is nothing to write home about, I understand why it's so hyped up.

We would not go back for lunch and definitely would not go for breakfast - menu does not excite me at all for that price. But we had dinner there a couple of weeks ago and it was one of the best meals we had during the trip! I would go back, but for dinner only. It was such a nicer experience than QS for lunch. Our server was great and the food was excellent! I also LOVE the lemon meringue cupcake, so that alone is worth going back for! But we were not impressed with lunch at all. It was an awesome start to our mvmcp night, and we were finished with an hour to spare before the party started. We were seated exactly on time and the restaurant did not feel overcrowded, which was surprising.

We think the Braised pork at lunch is probably the best CS meal in the parks. Love the West wing, and think the restaurant is one of the most beautiful locations. Our TS have been great, steaks were perfect, salmon wonderful, and the seafood in puff pastry was great. Is it worth giving up a first-born? Obviously not, but that doesn't make it sub-standard. Not everyone has to like every place. In Disney or at home, we all have places we like, and places we don't.

This restaurant is a must do for us for lunch at least once every trip. The three of us agree on it which is sometimes tough to have all three of us agree. I love the braised pork, DD8 loves the meatloaf and DH likes the turkey or beef sandwiches. We get tired of the burgers and chicken finger options at the CS restaurants at MK so BOG is a nice option for us. Now that Pecos Bills has converted to Mexican, that is once less restaurant option for us since I'm the only one that wants to eat there. Love the theme of BOG.

I feel that way about Dole Whips. It's really all subjective.

We have not tried breakfast there yet, but we like lunch there and love dinner. We do the dining plan on every trip, so even if we don't come out ahead money-wise, it's nice to not have to think about the prices while on vacation. That said, we can use one TS credit for BOG dinner, or one for, say, LTT, Tony's or the Plaza. In our humble opinion, BOG (atmosphere, food, ability to order wine) blows any other TS option at MK completely out of the water. We LOVE it!!

I don't like the food at dinner at all, and have gone 3x. I do however, really enjoy lunch. Breakfast was so/so.
