Has McDonald's in your area made any of these changes?

Unless the change is McDonald's not having the absolute worst food in the industry, I really don't think it will affect me much.

I actually ran into this the past few times. The menus don't list everything, so I usually have to ask. One day I wanted cookies but didn't see them anyplace. Thankfully they were just not on the condensed menu. Also, when I was given my order, they go over it, including what kind of drink. Very nice because I hate when I go just for a unsweet tea and get sweet.

I don't eat fast food any more, but when I did go through drive-thrus I would always sit there and check everything in my bag before I drove away. I know they hate that, but way too many times I had to park and go back to get my order corrected, so I wouldn't leave until I had checked.

Because we are down to two cars, I would stop at McDonald's often dropping the kids off at work for a tea. I always talked to a real person and they always got my order right. They did rebuild it a few years ago and went with the double drive- through. I would get a small fries sometimes and they were always hot and fresh. That wasn't always the case.

The last two times I've been through the McD drive through (different locations) I asked for honey as a condiment and they gave me honey mustard. not amused. I guess honey is no longer available? If they had told me that, I would've gone with barbeque sauce.

Fortunately they don't do the pre-recorded thing. The local chicken take-out uses a live teen saying "would you like to try..." and it was so garbled I replied, "I didn't understand a word you said." She asked, "Would you like me to repeat that?" Um, no. I want to place my order.

At the local Panda Express I often order their terry-yucky chicken and about half the time they forget to put in the little container of sauce. When they hand me the bag I feel around the outside of the bag (my version of braille?) and make sure a little container is there. Last time that little container had sweet/sour sauce.

I really need to stop going to fast food drive throughs, but they're so convenient when I look like a hag and don't want to make myself presentable.

OM, I've not heard the word HAG in I don't know how long, and I'm of East Coast, Canada heritage.

I rarely, and I mean maybe once every 8-9 months will go to a McDonald's drive through. More so in the summer, but that's only for the $1 drinks. On the rare occasion I grab fries too, I HATE that they don't fold the bag over. The food gets colder that way..in a winter climate when it's -35C even with the heater cranked, you're getting home to cold food.

When I was still able to eat fries, on the very rare occasions I did, I didn't worry about whether the bag was folded properly, the fries never lasted long enough to get cold. I ate those suckers when they were hot, on the way home. :rotfl:

They should still have honey. Sounds like someone messed up. It's still included in their nutrition facts (May 2014).

KFC doesn't have honey any more. They have some facsimile they call "honey flavored". It might contain some natural honey.

We're just north of McD's corporate HQ's by 15 miles. We've had the prerecorded messages/questions for a long time. Basically, if I can understand the voice, I presume it is prerecorded. If I can not understand, I presume it is a real person. There are quite a few errors in orders.

There was a time some years back when I had read McD's was going to have centralized call centers in several parts of the country. When you would place your order you would be talking to somebody, somewhere, but not at the actual location you were at. The idea was to give staff people that could be understood to the public.

For fast food, we MUCH prefer the Chick-fil-a immediately next door to the McD's. Food is excellent, staff is as courteous and accommodating as can be and they are good with their local involvement.

The thing I hate at the drive thru is a Sonic thing (though some McDonalds seem to do it to)....I pull up to the window and the voice says "Hello, my name is Kendra, to whom do I have the pleasure of speaking?". Sorry Kendra, I'm not here for introductions and to make friends. I just want my diet cherry limeade, and I'm not going to introduce myself before I order it.

I don't go to McD's all that often, maybe every other month, and I suppose that "ask, ask, tell" idea will cut down on, but not eliminate, incorrect orders. Sometimes the problem is the person packaging the food. Twice this year I received the wrong item in the "right" box or wrapper. It wasn't a big deal, the substitute was acceptable. A different type of McMuffin or some other burger in the Quarter Pounder with Cheese box.

I prefer to go inside anyway, even if I'm taking out. Seems to be much quicker than the drive thru in many cases. I like the idea of touch screen ordering.

I haven't noticed the automated greetings but did notice that the order is repeated twice to make sure it's correct. We don't get fast food too often anymore but I am a fan of anything that will help the employees get the order correct.

So do I and have gotten grief from the window employee for it but too bad, if there wasn't a history of getting the order wrong, I would just drive away. I vividly remember one cashier at BK being very adamant about me not being able to check my order while I was at the window. At first, I was nice and saying it will just take a few seconds since I only make sure one particular sandwich is right and that there are the correct number of items in the bag. She got nasty and said "You can't do that here." I asked if she was going to move my car and that if she would just let up, I would be done. Then the punchline...something was missing.

There is a new McDonalds restaurant that opened up in my city that has a create your own burger (similar to how you create a sandwich at Subway), but I haven't seen the new changes to the drive-thru yet.

Think how much time they'd save on each order if they just said "Hello, my name is Kendra, what can I get for you today?" Seconds wasted on every single person adds up at the end of the day to lots of wasted time.

I used to always go to a McDonalds drive through in NYC on 34th St & 10th - had to fight with a bunch of taxis to get in there but I know they have a drive through there.

I've never been to that one so didn't even realize it was a drive thru. I forget the closer you get to the high ways there are suddenly drive through places. I normally don't even get realize them until you get to the Bronx.

That's an age-old problem of the drive-thru ordering process that I've always thought is maybe caused by the poor sound quality of the system - it seems like they never hear you properly. Very often at our local places there's a language barrier to contend with too. It makes for a frustrating and unpleasant experience and about 1/2 the time we end up having to park and go in to "fix" our order. We've taken to just going in and getting counter service and skipping the aggravation (on those rare occasions we even bother going at all).

That reminds me of a radio parody from at least 30 years ago. A guy trying to order and the employee inside sounded liked the teacher in Charlie Brown TV special.

LARGE ORANGE DRINK!!!!! SAY IT!!!!!

LOL - can you imagine some of the "famous people" they get to serve every day? :lmao: That's actually one of the most obnoxious things I've heard lately; we don't have Sonic here - I'd avoid eating there for that reason alone if we did.

This idea is totally lame and it'll never work. The only reason it even sort of works at Subway is because you're standing right there watching what they do and can stop them from putting on onion instead of lettuce and lite mayo instead of regular.

I don't think I have ever been to any drive up window at any fast food place with a recorded greeting.

I didn't notice if they folded the bag or not, but I never noticed before either. Been twice since they started the breakfast all day menu, and yes, ordered breakfast items in the afternoon.

I don't think McDonald's here has ever messed up an order. Taco Bell, well that is a whole other story.
