:goodvibesAre these offered in those rooms with the balcony and hot tub?

Is this a good massage for two people who have never had them?

Times are only left near our dinner- should we take a reservation before or after dinner?

Any help appreciated. We have not spent any times at spas, but thought this might be fun.

-Thanks!!

Yes, those rooms with the hot tubs are couples villas where you can get a massage together (although I personally won't because Tony snores). Very lovely, decadent experience, although pricey.

If you book one and you decide you want or need to cancel it what is the policy. When will you need to cancel it by?

We get a couples massage almost every trip. They are awesome! But not cheap. They do leave your body mushy, and a bit greasy. It's like you are in lala land. So for me, I would have mine after dinner because it takes me forever to get ready - especially if I have to wash my hair which you will after one of these.

I also highly recommend the hot stones couples massage.

We usually head to the hot tub after, then back to the cabin and have wine on the balcony. :thumbsup2

I think it might just be worth the splurge. I am not sure where else we are going spend our money since we are not big drinkers.

I guess I will try anything once.... :goodvibes

I would love to try the hot stone couple massage but I don't see it offered. Can you request it instead of the swedish?

We had a Swedish Massage booked on our cruise, but when we went to our appointment, our massage therapists asked if we wanted to "upgrade" to a hot stone massage. We said yes! and it was definitely worth it!!! :goodvibes

I just booked one of these for myself & my son so that we could get the massage together (he is in his twenties)... I did not choose the individual option of reserving them because I was afraid we would get assigned different time slots & we wanted to try it together since it was our first time getting a massage.
It said on the online site for DCL that it was "romantic".... won't they be able to see on my reservation that is for my son & myself?

I am totally unfamiliar with getting a massage, will it be awkward?

First time cruiser & first time massage client.

My DH and I want to get the couples' massage also. We can finally book it next week! Yippee!! Our first couples' massage!

You will be in close quarters for the couples' massage, and if that makes you uncomfortable, you might consider calling DCL to explain the situation. I wouldn't presume they will automatically know (or see) that it is a son and parent.

The massage itself, while certainly sensual, is just that--a massage. You will have two massage therapists whose task it is to besiege your muscles with pressure in order to make you feel relaxed. You do strip completely (or at least to your skivvies), and with a romantic couple that's not an issue. However, I'm sure you and your son can artfully look the other way while the other disrobes. After the massage, there is the hot tub, two relaxing chairs, and food. Just bring a suit into which to change for the hot tub, and you'll be fine. Again, if you think you might be uncomfortable, then call DCL.

Thank you very much....
I think we will be okay then.
That information helps a lot.
But I am not sure if the hot tub is included in our appointment.
Our is just 50 minutes it states & I believe only includes the Swedish massage.
It was labeled "Swedish Massage for Couples" & is $242 for the couple.

You must cancel a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the scheduled appointment time to avoid being charged.

If it's just the massage, then ignore the last of my post. ;) Generally speaking, couples' massages (a la Disney) focus primarily on the main task at hand--the massage. The music is some light & airy, New Wave-ish style piffle, and the atmosphere is one of relaxation not titillation. I'm sure you'll be fine.

:rolleyes:The only massages that include the private balcony and hot tub are the Spa Villa packages. I'm pretty sure a regular couples massage would not include the spa villa experience. But it would be in a nice treatment room.

DisneyNDecember, I have had lots of massages and as much as I love my son, ain't no way I would sign up for a couples massage with my DS. You have to disrobe, at least partly and no way am I doing that with my son there. :scared: What I suggest is to book a massage for you and him separately but at the same time frame. That way you can go to the spa together, then split to the separate dressing areas. I treated my DS to a massage when he was a very young adult on the cruise and he loved it. I have booked concurrent treatments for myself and family members many times. We trot down to the spa together, and come out together looking like very happy, limp dishcloths. :tilt:

I have done a Spa Villa experience with my DD, and enjoyed it though it took a bit more effort to disrobe discreetly with her there. :rolleyes1

For those that have never had a massage, when you arrive early (at least 15 min before your appointment time) for your app't, they will ask you to fill out a health history. Then you will be taken to the women's or men's dressing/locker room respectively where you will get out of your clothes and put on a spa robe and slippers. I kept my own flip flops on because they were more comfy than the spa slippers. There is a small relaxation area in the dressing rooms to wait until your therapist comes to get you. Once in the treatment room, you will be shown where to hang your robe, and given instructions on whether to start face down on the table (generally they start face down first with massage), and to cover yourself with the linens on the table. The therapist will step out of the room and give you privacy to do all that. They will knock before re-entering the room to make sure they respect your privacy. If you are shy, you can leave on your underwear, though I don't recommend women keep on their um, "upper" undergarment. You would not enjoy the massage as much IMO. They will only uncover the part of your body they are working on at that time so you will be covered for the most part, most of your treatment.

To get the most enjoyment out of your massage, be assertive to let the therapist know how much pressure you like, and if you are at all uncomfortable at any time let them know. If you're cold, let them know. If you're too warm, let them know. If you are extra shy about your body, let them know and they will make sure to keep you more covered. Remember, YOU are the consumer and the therapist can't customize it to your personal needs if you don't let them know. :) ENJOY!!! Getting a great spa treatment is one of my very favorite splurges! Especially on a cruise. :cutie:

Hi - I am just off the Oct 17 Western Fantasy and my SIL and I did the couples Swedish massage. It was the first time getting massages for each of us and we wanted to be together, too, so we booked the couples one.

The only awkward moment was when the therapists told us to hang our robes and get on our tables. We were nekkid, but we just averted our eyes and did one at a time. When we were done, we just draped ourselves with the sheet until we got our robes on.

It was a great time!

This is the same procedure for couples, correct? You are both in the same massage room? :thanks:
