My Year of Disney BEGINS: a little Running, a little Drinking: PTR **1/12-W&D-Day 8**

Yay for the 30 day dance! Whoo hoo! :woohoo:

But bummer about your car.... I hope it's not too bad.

D~

Thanks. It came out to almost $1500 in repairs. :( My car is almost 15 years old and I've put very little money into it overall, so I suppose it's time for things to finally start falling apart. Sigh. I'm so ready for vacay!

Bummer - that is a HUGE repair bill! YIKES! But good that you haven't put much $$ into your car overall... Hopefully this is the only repair for a while. ::yes::

D~

The thing that really sucks is that it was JUST in for a lengthy - and expensive - service. And then this happens. :headache::headache::headache:

Welp, tonight I've got a 10K. The BFF was contemplating going, but she weaseled out of it, so it's just me. :( I'm hoping it goes well as my last 2 runs haven't been the greatest. :confused3

Good luck! I hope your race is/was awesome!! (Hopefully the bad training runs were a sign that you're going to have an awesome race)

Eek, I'm too late to wish you good luck on your 10k! :scared: So instead I'll just ask... How did it go, girl??

Thanks! I did OK. Definitely my best 10K so far in that I hardly walked any of it (only during water stops and a couple times after an uphill section).

Yeah, my legs were fairly fresh since I hadn't pushed myself in a few days. I was especially glad that I didn't have any tummy trouble after having a meal around 12pm/race at 6pm. Hopefully Wine and Dine will have the same outcome. *fingers crossed*

Thank you all for asking! It means a lot. I ended up with 1:36/15:33 per mile average. Super slow, I know. But it's ahead of the balloon ladies, lol. party:Now I just need to extend that distance by more than half in less than a month.

The Wine and Dine waivers/corrals/bib numbers came out. I'm in the next to last corral (K), so I should have a 10 minute cushion between myself and the balloon ladies. No picture stops for me!

Okay, I'm going to offer two pieces of advice here. Just remember that the only runDisney race I've done was a 5K.
1- Try to be one of the first people to get to the corrals. If you're towards the front of the corral, it gives you an extra 2-3 mins.
2- See if you can find some trip reports or blogs from previous W&D races that talk about being swept and pay attention to where they were swept. There is a point where they no longer sweep. It's definitely before Epcot. See if you can find that point. Once you get past there, you can stop for characters.

I hope that helps. And no matter what happens, remember that you will have an awesome time at this race. Hopefully that will help motivate the rest of your training.

Considering I've NEVER run a RunDisney event... But I have read all of this too, and I believe it to be true. LOL :thumbsup2 I believe it's an excellent plan of attack! ::yes::

You'll do great!!! What's your official countdown now? It's gotta be getting close! :woohoo:

Thanks, Sarah. :) I was planning to get over and into the corral pretty early. I've also read that can save a few minutes. As for the sweeping points, I may check that out. I think there were two when I ran Tink and everyone celebrated around mile 8 or 9 when we got past the last one.

22 Days!!!

I hope you are ecstatic with yourself, you should be! I'm really excited for you, love your positive attitude and your determination to overcome the less than perfect outings. Both you and DMGeurts (and others posting here and my DD of course) have been an inspiration to me. So even if the balloons were to beat you, you would still be heads and tails ahead of most of us. Got my MB Tuesday :)

Thanks, I forwarded this to my DD, it's her first 1/2 and Disney run so much appreciate the info.

I missed your MB post... Yay... Your trip is getting so close, just checking in on you! :)

Yay for MBs! Thank you for your compliments! I'm feeling MUCH better now that I've gotten up to 9 miles at 15:15/mile. Like maybe I can actually get through running 13?

You're so sweet. I've been so busy at work trying to get everything cleaned up for my time off that I haven't had much DIS time. Then at home I'm either sleeping, training or getting ready for the trip.

Princess update!

The 2016 passholder discounts came out for my Princess trip in February. Luckily it was available for my room and length of stay at YC and I saved another $280. With the initial discount added in, it almost exactly covers my car repairs. :headache: :sad2:

Wine and Dine update...

I took the kitties to the vet last weekend and they are both healthy. They got their shots updated so they're able to be boarded while I'm gone. :cat::cat: They were both good and the vet said, 'Oh I like these kitties' lol. I'm dropping them off to be boarded the day before I leave, Wed. 11/4.

Tomorrow I'm getting my hair cut and colored. Hopefully the highlights that I have will still show through. I've actually never done an all-over color before, only highlights.

I finally got my 9 miles in the other morning at a 15:15/mile pace. I'm super excited with that. According to my Garmin I knocked off 3 minutes from my 10K time from a couple of weeks ago. :)

Now I have to track down my Tables in Wonderland card and my Christmas party ticket. They're lurking around here somewhere. :scared:

Both of mine went to the vet on 10/9, and both left with updated shots and clean bills of health. Hooray! However, mine were NOT at all good. They were both unruly and uncooperative. :sad2:  Both of their badness levels are out of control...

Pics or it didn't happen! :D

Those are very important things! ::yes::

Yay! It's always nice to save money and be able to pay for car repairs...

Well behaved kitties? Really? I didn't know that could happen.

Yay! You got this! From what I've seen people saying everywhere, if you can do 9 miles in training you can do a half - so hopefully this means you'll do awesome at Wine & Dine!

Welcome to the Wonderful World of Color. I took after my aunts and grandmother who started greying early, so I've been coloring for a few years now :crazy2:.

That's a GREAT time! Congrats!
